Coromon is an indie RPG adventure game developed by TRAGsoft and published by Freedom Games, released on PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile platforms on March 31, 2022.

You are a young apprentice trainer of mysterious new monsters known as Coromon. You need to journey across the Velua region collecting fearsome yet adorable creatures with the latest creature catching technology from the brilliant scientist, Lux Solis. Along the way you must fend off a shady organization who wants to unleash the power of several Dark Coromon to destroy the world.

This game provides examples of:

  • Alien Invasion: The Big Bads are a group of aliens whose own planet was ruined and as a result they seek to use their Black Magic to corrupt the Earth and its mons and terraform it into a suitable replacement for their people.
  • Anti-Frustration Features: The Hoarder passive is like the Pickup ability from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, but it's always active and puts the item in the player's inventory instead of the Coromon's held item slot, and there's an end of battle message indicating what was picked up when it activates.
  • Arc Symbol: "Lux Solis", which means Light of the Sun, tends to be connected with sun-related imagery and phrases.
  • Ascended Meme: One of the Challenge Runs available in the game is Nuzlocke style, a popular way of playing the Pokémon games.
  • Backbench-Hitting Attack: Some Titans have attacks that can affect one or more of your Coromon that are in the backup.
  • Beary Friendly: Cubzero, an Ice-type bear who's one of the starter Coromon.
  • Capture Balls: This poke-clone introduces Spinners, which are short cylinders that are used to capture mons in the game. They are about as small in radius as the smallest Mons, although mons can get much bigger.
  • Catching Some Z's: The representation of the sleeping protagonist in the opening, is a yellow head emitting Zs.
  • Catchphrase: Scientists and trainers associated with the labs of Lux Solis are encouraged to end conversations with "Shine bright!"
  • Challenge Run: In addition to a Nuzlocke mode, a.k.a Insane, there are additional optional settings that do things like limit the number of items you can use in battle, make it so you can only catch one Coromon of each evolutionary line, and make it so you're only able to capture Coromon from other trainers' teams. All of these, as well as the base difficulty setting, can be readjusted by returning to the game's starting area and accessing a computer terminal.
  • Character Customization: The game begins with an in-depth avatar designer, including skin tone, hair color and style (with potential facial hair), outfit, headwear, and their default facial expression.
  • Discount Card: Talking to the first possible Shop assistant has them give out two coupons. A 25% and a 50% discount one.
  • Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors: Each Coromon has an elemental affinity that is weak or resistant to other affinities. There are also some elements that are exclusive to attacks, which are also stronger or weaker against specific elements.
  • Expy: Played with. Rachel Briggs based Bittybolt on her pet cat Bit, but Bittybolt has a very strong resemblance to Kotora, a cut Pokémon that Rachel likes a lot.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: There are variants of every wild Coromon that have golden palettes, which show that they have increased potential compared to the regular form. Averted with "Perfect" forms, which are mainly Palette Swaps instead of being notably golden.
  • Good Morning, Crono: The game starts with the protagonist having overslept their alarm.
  • Gotta Catch 'Em All: The game is a direct clone of the Pokémon series so one of the centralized elements is to collect every species of monster available in the game.
  • Item Get!: The protagonist raises their hands in the air to show off new items.
  • Level-Up Fill-Up: As the Difficulty manual says:
Easy: Coromon will fully restore their HP when they level up. No more backtracking!
  • Mon Tech:
    • Skill Flashes teach new Skills to compatible Coromon.
    • The Potential and Battle Readers are used to determine Coromons' Potential stat out and in-battle.
  • Non-Lethal K.O.: As the Difficulty manual says, the Hard mode has fainted Coromon leave the party instead of sticking around to be revived.
  • Player Personality Quiz: Early in the game, when it's time to receive your first Coromon, a scientist gives you a personality quiz while scanning your brainwaves in order to determine which of the three starters best fits your playstyle. However, you're still allowed to ignore the recommendation and just pick whichever one you want.
  • Pokémon Speak: Not unlike to the inspiring franchise's anime, the Coromon's cries sound just like their names.
  • Protection from the Elements: Weatherproof, a Trait unique to the Silquill line, makes the user immune to all weather effects.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: One house in Hayville has Mary inside and Judas outside, references to "The Bible".
  • Retraux: The game has a 16-bit art style similar to SNES games.
  • Sdrawkcab Speech: The Aliens' language is the player's chosen language backwards.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The decoration with a Heart Symbol in it in the protagonist's room, is a Portal Companion Cube reference: "It was a triumph!"
    • To Bad Hair Day's "Amish Paradise", by "Weird Al" Yankovic, along with his wife Suzanne: Al the farmer and his wife Suzanne in Hayville. Al references lines from the song:
Al: I've been seeding and plowing so long, that even my wife thinks my mind is gone.
But I'm a man of the land, with quite some discipline.
And befitting this job, I grow a beard on my chin!
And if the chores are all done, and all is well and fine,
Harvest Fest is here and we'll enjoy the party time!

Suzanne: We've spent most of our lives living in this small paradise.
And we like it so much that we'll live out the rest here.
    • The Power Tower's fourth floor is a Mastermind game hosted by Mr. Mind.
    • To Darude and his song "Sandstorm": The town of Darudic, in a desert, with the Darudic Sandstorm Spa.
  • Shout-Out Theme Naming:
  • Starter Equipment: Before the game's first battle, an Employee Starter kit is given.
  • Super Wrist-Gadget: Gauntlets are high-tech gauntlets used to manage mons and act as a Swiss-Army Appendage for traversing environments.
  • Video Game Randomizer: One of these can be unlocked as a Challenge Run variation by making enough progress in the game.
