These devices are made to interact with Mons in diverse ways. One of the most standard is Capture Balls, which are made to capture and then summon once used. Another is Monster Compendiums, which analyzes and gathers information about Mons. Mon Tech can do more than capture, tame, and summon. One of the most common is being able to perform an Evolution Power-Up. Usually, a Mon Tech would use The Power of Friendship by creating a bond between a Mon and the tamer. They may also have other abilities to support Mons while giving the tamer powers. They are often an artifact of Mons originating in overt video game systems. In some cases, they may allow the holder to transform into a Mon. Mon Tech may be Merchandise-Driven depending on the franchise, especially if it relates to Anime.

Sub-Trope of Applied Phlebotinum and Mon.
