Code Atma is a free-to-play mobile RPG for the Android and iOS by Agate.

A string of mysterious murder cases known as the Firefly Murders has the entire city gripped with fear. Bodies are found with no perceptible cause of death. Witnesses say some victims seemingly struggled against something invisible before their moment of demise.

You are plunged into this world of mystery one evening when you yourself are assaulted by an unseen force. Luckily, a mysterious woman named Kasna shows up in time and installs the application Code Atma on your phone. The enigmatic app allows you to see the true form of these killers: Atma, or supernatural beings drawn from legends and myths, hidden to the naked eye.

With the power of Code Atma, you become a Seeker - someone who can summon Atma of your own and wield their power to vanquish rogue Atma threatening our world. As it turns out, there's a supernatural war brewing under the world's thin veneer of normalcy - The War Beyond the Veil. Asterisk, the corporation behind the Code Atma app, recruits you as a Seeker to join the war and decide the fate of the world...

The combat mainly consists of the Seekers coming up with a party of up to six Atma with their own passive and active skills. Seekers need to find the right synergy between the Atma to face other Atma formations, both by NPC and other players.

The game was released in its homeland of Indonesia on June 25, 2020, and globally on August 19, 2021.


Tropes appearing in the game:

  • After-Combat Recovery: All your Atma are healed after battle in all modes except for Labyrinth, thus making the management of your Atma's health much more important to make it to the final level.
  • All Myths Are True: The Atma are drawn from various myths, legends, and folklore, mostly those common in South East Asia, with a focus on Indonesia in particular.
  • Artificial Stupidity: The Labyrinth enemy teams are generated more-or-less randomly, thus possibly making highly ineffective and/or imbalanced teams.
  • Boss Battle: In the story campaign, Labyrinth, and Tower of Time, there are boss Atma with higher stats and special skills. They can be identified by a red and black aura around them.
  • Bribing Your Way to Victory: Downplayed. As fights are carried between teams of Atma, even a group of the rarest Atma might not be enough if you don't consider how the party works as a whole and prepare the proper counter for the opponent's line up.
  • Character Level: Each Atma has a maximum level cap, depending on their rarity. The max level for 6-star Atma is 140.
  • Color-Coded Elements: Red for Fire, blue for Water, green for Wind, brown for Earth, white for Light, and dark purple for Darkness.
  • Com Mons: Many Atma are commonly found in their 1, 2, or 3-star rarity form. And they can only be synthesized up to 4-star rarity, drawing the line between the Com Mons and rare Atma.
  • Critical Hit: Some Atma specialize in dealing or buffing crits. Srikandi and Noni in particular rely on crits for some added effects.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Although there are some Atma who are originally described as beautiful in their lore, some Atma play this straight as being much cuter than their traditional interpretation. One of the most standout examples is the Atma Pocong, which are traditionally shrouded cadavers depicted with some rot and decay. In this game, they are adorable, magical girl-like beings.
  • Damager, Healer, Tank: The Atma classes are Ranger, Rogue, Wizard, Healer, and Tank. The first three are all damage dealers, only differing in their combat style of choice (ranged, melee, or magic).
  • Dark Is Not Evil: The Atma you control might have sinister origins, but it's up to you to use them for good or evil.
  • Detective Drama: A major part of the story campaign, as you are dispatched to investigate cases that may have Atma involvement behind them.
  • Diegetic Interface: The Code Atma game UI insinuates that this is the very same Code Atma app you use in-game.
  • Elemental Powers: Each Atma has an element associated with them between Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Light, and Dark.
  • Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors: As each Atma has their own element, they can get bonus damage when attacking an Atma with an element weak to theirs.
    • Fire is effective against Wind.
    • Wind is effective against Earth.
    • Earth is effective against Water.
    • Water is effective against Fire.
    • Light and Dark are effective against each other.
  • Elite Mooks: A special version of Sandekala appears as bosses on certain story chapters and Tower of Time levels, with much higher stats and nastier skills.
  • Glass Cannon: Some Atma are designed to be this, with high attack but low defense, HP, and no defensive skills. For example, Lohita and Sandekala.
  • Heroic Build: Gatotkaca and Drona are among the most apparent examples.
  • Light Is Not Good: Light is an element Atma can have, but as there are evil Atma of all elements, Light Atma have the potential to be evil as well.
  • Limit Break: The Atma's active skills, which can be used by saving up energy from attacking, being attacked, or through the effect of other skills.
  • Magitek: The Code Atma app, which can summon the supernatural Atma.
  • Mons: The Atma themselves, ranging from monsters of urban legend to divine beings.
  • Olympus Mons: Some of the Atma are demigods to full-on gods and goddesses.
  • Research, Inc.: Asterisk, the corporation behind the supernatural Code Atma app.
  • Supernatural Phone: Any phone can become this if they have the Code Atma installed.
  • Support Party Member: Many of them. For example, Krisnaga and Shinta have strictly supportive active skills.
  • Status Infliction Attack: Many of them. Some Atma specialize in dealing ailments and exploiting them.
  • Stone Wall: Certain Atma are built to last. Chief among them are Rahwana, who can stack the Block debuff easily, and Gatotkaca, who can draw in enemy attacks and potentially get more defensive buffs for himself.
  • Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl: Both Noni and Kuntilanak fall under this archetype.
  • Turn-Based Combat: Your Atma and the opposing Atma attack in turns, decided by the speed stat.
