SpinachPuffs is a British Troper who lives in Glasgow. When he isn't stalking the halls of This Wiki, he's making music as "songsfrompaul" or reviewing entries in the Disney Animated Canon in both text and video form.
While not much of an active contributor in terms of editing, SpinachPuffs does spend many, many hours reading through pages related to his favourite shows and films.
Tropes relating to SpinachPuffs
- Basement-Dweller: Although it's actually a ground-floor bedroom. Justified since he's attending a university within ten miles of his family's home.
- Berserk Button: If you pull an All Animation Is Disney in front of him, you better watch out.
- Can't Hold His Liquor: Alcohol causes him large amounts of digestive discomfort.
- Evil Sounds Deep: Averted. He may have a very low speaking voice, but he's actually a really nice guy who adores Disney movies.
- Famous Ancestor: His grandmother previously claimed that they were related to Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the Scouts.
- Fanboy: Rather obsessive over Disney films.
- Fat Slob: Subverted. He's lanky and underweight, but still rather slobbish.
- Fatal Flaw: An arachnophobe living in a converted garage? Oh dear...
- Growing the Beard: Both literally and metaphorically. The first months of his You Tube vlog coincided with his first months of trying to grow a beard. As his internet projects grew and took on new forms, so did his facial hair.
- Heroes Want Redheads: Why yes indeed.
- Identical Stranger: To Simon Pegg, if You Tube commenters are to be believed.
- I Thought Everyone Could Do That: Apparently blowing through your thumbs to make bird noises is not an easy skill.
- The Disney Movie Buff
- Muggle: As evidenced in the (as yet unreleased) song "Muggle Till I Die".
- Nerd: Well, yeah.
- Rhymes on a Dime: He is known to make up rhyming blues songs on the spot about random topics.
- Shorter Means Smarter: Subverted. He's over six feet tall but does well at school.
- Shout-Out: His most common screen-name (used on his Twitter and Dailybooth, as well as on This Wiki) is a reference to The Emperors New Groove
- Stroke the Beard: One of his many habits.
- Younger Than They Look: Less of a problem now, but he spent most of his early teens looking much older than he was.
Tropes relating to his music project, songsfrompaul
- The Artist Formerly Known As KronksSpinachPuffs
- Breakaway Pop Hit: The only trock song he ever released is also his most-watched original song on You Tube by a country mile.
- Black Sheep Hit: His song "Feel The Rain" continues to gain a lot of views thanks to the connection with the lyrics of Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten".
- Cover Version: His current music project, "The A-Z of Covers", is nothing but this trope.
- Everything Is an Instrument: Especially when creating percussion sounds. Items include an empty drink bottle, a Nintendo D Si and a blue plastic box from Ikea.
- Evolving Music: What started out as an acoustic guitar and one vocal track recorded on a webcam microphone has turned into something much more sophisticated.
- Gratuitous Panning: His first album is a little guilty of this.
- Last Chorus Slow-Down: As heard in You Are Not Alone as The Master dies.
- Medley: One of Gorillaz songs and another using The Killers.
- New Sound Album: Compared to his first album, his next one probably falls under this trope. Once it's actually finished.
- No-Hit Wonder: songsfromwho?
- Not Christian Rock: As he is a Christian, certain songs of his have obvious subtexts.
- One-Man Band: Drums, bass, guitar and vocals are all done by one guy (with the help of some MIDI software).
- Re-release the Song: His next album will feature full-band versions of his very first You Tube releases.
- Rhythm Typewriter: As seen in his cover of Can't.
- Scientific Progress Goes Oi: He's currently studying electrical engineering.
- Self-Backing Vocalist: If there are backing vocals, then this trope is in effect. Taken to extremes in his Nightmare Before Christmas cover, where he portrays every single citizen of Halloween Town.
- Self-Titled Album: The abandoned album planned for 2010 would have likely been self-titled.
- Stage Names: Subverted in that Paul is his real name, but he only ever releases music under "songsfrompaul".
- Tick Tock Tune: The unreleased "Clockwork Love", based on the Clockwork Droids.
- Wasted Song: Despite the fact that it's probably the best track on the album and that Glasgow provides no shortage of rain to film it in, "Rainy Days" never received a You Tube video.
