Trivia / Kamen Rider OOO

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • Ryosuke Miura, of course, plays both Ankh and Shingo Izumi. Both characters are only active for a very brief period in #42 after Ankh absorbs Lost Ankh and regains his full Greeed body.
    • Marie Kai plays both Chiyoko and Dr. Maki's sister Hitomi in flashbacks.
    • Sayako plays two Identical Strangers in Movie Wars Core, the ballerina Yoshino and Nobunaga's wife Nōhime, which explains why Nobunaga wanted to have her as a consort. Although he chose to cripple her when she said no, he had a change of heart and healed her.
    • Like Ankh, The Shogun and the 21 Core Medals' Big Bad Gara possesses an ordinary woman, meaning we get her actres Miki Sakai playing both roles.
  • Actor Allusion:
    • In the Shogun and Core Medals movie, we see a guy carrying a guitar who takes up the Perky Female Minion's offer and get a samurai hairdo. The actor in question? Mitsuru Karahashi, who played the guitar as Naoya Kaido and played a (fallen) samurai, Juzo.
    • One of the Net Movies for that movie has Gamel of all people get a Bishōnen makeover. Not so random if you know he was in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon before this.
  • Bonus Episode: The Hyper Battle DVD, Kamen Rider OOO: Quiz, Dance, and Takagarooba!?, was released with an issue of Televi Kun Magazine.
  • Dawson Casting: Or something like it. In Let's Go Kamen Riders, Isao Sasaki plays the "Man in White," who is the adult version of Naoki, separated from the Riders in the 1970s and eventually too important to history to go back and retrieve, having become the Shocker scientist who set Riders 1 and 2 free. However, since he was born in 1942, Sasaki was 29 in the year 10-ish-looking Naoki was stranded in. What makes is it funnier is that Sasaki had in fact guest starred in the original series as a young man, a defected Shocker scientist to boot.
  • Development Gag: #27, the 999th episode of the franchise, has a list of all Kamen Rider shows represented by title cards including mocks for Riderman, V3's secondary who was indeed considered for a spin-off before being dropped in favor of Kamen Rider X, and Kamen Rider ZX, which was intended to become series but ended as a One-Episode Wonder.
  • "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune:
    • All seven major Combos have their own songs (also played as closing credits music), all of which are sung by Shu Watanabe, the man playing Eiji. He makes it a duet with Ryosuke Miura (Ankh) for Time Judged All (Tajadol), and with Akira Kushida (the OOO Driver!) for Power to Tearer (Putotyra).
    • Hiroaki Iwanaga and Asaya Kimijima (Date and Goto, respectively) perform another duet for the Kamen Rider Birth theme, Reverse/Re:birth.
  • Dyeing for Your Art: Ryosuke Miura (who plays Ankh) had his hair dyed and styled to play the role. His more "normal" hairstyle as Shingo Izumi is a wig.
  • Hey, It's That Place!: Toku fans will probably recognize a lot of locations from other shows.
  • Meaningful Release Date: By accident, due to the 2011 Earthquake. #28, the 1000th episode of Kamen Rider in total, broadcast on April 3, 2011, forty years to the day since Kamen Rider first aired.
  • Milestone Celebration: #27 and #28 celebrate the 999th and 1000th episode in the Kamen Rider franchise, respectively. For bonus points, #28 ended up being broadcast on the exact date the original Kamen Rider first premiered (though this was actually due to broadcast delays after the March 2011 earthquake).
  • Prop Recycling:
    • The Homage to past Kamen Rider in #28 involves a Zerg Rush of past Mooks, including the Leo Soldiers, modified Zectroopers that actually appeared in Den-O before.
    • The Dinosaur Yummy costumes from Movie War Core are re-used as Dr. Maki's first Yummies in #32.
    • The Shocker legs from OOO’s Tamashiy Combo are repainted from the Condor Legs.
    • The Super Taka head from Super Tatoba is reused from Tajadol.
    • All over the place in Core Medal of Resurrection
      • Ancient OOO has the same suit as OOO, with a dulled Taka head that has visible cracks, and a golden cloak that’s taken from the Great Eyezer from Kamen Rider Ghost. His Greeed Absorption form has the arms taken from his Latorartar and Gatakiriba combos, the legs from Sagohzo and Shauta combos, and the shoulder armor repainted from Tamashiy combo. His sword is reused from the Armored Warrior Inhumanoid.
      • Goda’s rider form is kitbashed from other OOO forms; His helmet is taken from Burakawani Combo, with the helmet painted black, with a purple scorpion face and orange eyes added, the main body is a standard OOO suit, the shoulders and chest are taken from Ancient OOO, his claws and shin armor are taken from Super Tatoba combo and his feet are taken from Another OOO.
      • OOO Tajador Eternity is the evolved form of the Tajador Combo, and is repainted from said suit in the colors of Ankh. The Tajanityspiner is also recolored from the Tajaspinner, and the Taka, Kujaku, and Condor Eternity medals are colored form the regular medals.
  • Throw It In!: Eiji and Ankh's imfamous playing with toy animals at the end of one of the net movies.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Giru, the Dinosaur Greeed, went as far as having a voice-only cameo in the OOO part of Movie War Core only to never manifest in the TV series itself, with the Dinosaur Greeed instead being a form assumed by Dr. Maki (and Eiji). Giru was voiced by Kenji Hamada, who would be recast as Poseidon in Movie War Mega Max.
    • A V-Cinema was planned to be released after the show's conclusion but it was cancelled as the staff was funneled over to the production of Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters.
    • Ankh was originally going to be the final villain of the season, but due to the chemistry of Eiji's and Ankh's actors, they decided to scrap it.
    • The nature of the Kyoryu Greeed changed over time. At one point, it was intended to be the aforementioned Giru, at another, it would’ve been revealed to be Hina (explaining her Super-Strength), and at another, Date was going to die and be revived as the Kyoryu Greeed, before the 2011 Earthquake hit (this later received a Development Gag in Birth X no Tanjou Hiwa, with the alternate Date turning out to be the Kyoryu Greeed of his world).
  • Word of God: The Kougami Foundation is based on Smart Brain as Smart Brain was the most realistic company seen in Kamen Rider with Satonaka being a toned-down version of Smart Lady. Now, show of hands: who wants to see Kougami be used to make the Rose Yummy or Horse Yummy?
