Trivia Tropes

  • Acting for Two:
    • Once Nenerobo became her own character, Machico began voicing her in addition to Nene.
    • Usa-chan, the rabbit plushie seen in Wonderland Sekai, is voiced by Akina, Kohane's voice actress.
  • All-Star Cast: The game's original song compositions feature multiple legendary Vocaloid producers who have had at least one smash hit song, including DECO*27, Pinocchio-P, Giga-P, Mitchie M, kemu, and even neru.
  • Ascended Fanon: Vivid BAD SQUAD's Sekai version of KAITO is the closest the game has gotten so far to one of the more common portrayals of KAITO from back in the day; air-headed, childish, unreliable and most importantly, ice-cream loving/stealing.
    • For another piece of KAITO-related canonized fanon, Colorful Stage! continues the trend of referring to KAITO as "big brother" or "KAITO-oniisan", which was hugely popular in the Vocaloid fanbase before Crypton and Sega took notice and began referring to him as that as well. In "Wonderlands x Showtime" SEKAI, Emu refers to KAITO as "KAITO-Oniisan" and KAITO reminds the others that he would rather be regarded as an older brother than a parental figure. As well, Rin refers to him as "KAITO-nii" in Leo/need's SEKAI.
      • While less commonly used in the fanbase, the affectionate nicknames for MEIKO, those being "Mei-chan" and "MEIKO-nee", were made "canon" in Stage SEKAI and School SEKAI respectively. Luka is also referred to as "Luka-nee" by Rin in School SEKAI, which was first "canonized" by Len in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA.
    • Fans predicted that MORE MORE JUMP's depiction of KAITO would either be an idol, an idol Otaku, or an idol producer. Upon his actual release, it was confirmed through dialogue that he is all three of these things at once as he takes on managing idols as a hobby, is a fan of idols to understand what pleases his audience better, and of course, also an idol so that he can sing alongside the others.
    • Prior to the release of Colorful Stage!, High School AU's for the Vocaloids were fairly common in the fandom and in songs. Leo/need's incarnation of the Virtual Singers makes this alternate universe semi-canon, as School SEKAI does depict the Virtual Singers as high school students who are in a band together.
    • The SEKAI variants of the virtual singers play into the fandom's commonly held idea that the virtual singers can be interpreted in various ways, as each virtual singer is a reflection of the respective units feelings rather than how they actually are. The only exception to this is the "base" virtual singers who are Flat Character's and aren't intended to be viewed as the official portrayals of the group.
  • B-Team Sequel: Rather than being developed internally by the now-defunct Sega CS3 (responsible for developing the main Project DIVA games) or AM2 (responsible for Arcade and mirai), this spinoff of the SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project series has been outsourced entirely to Colorful Palette, a subsidiary of Craft Egg (developer of BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!).
  • Bad Export for You: In addition to being behind over a year on content, the English version follows the Japanese version's update schedule to the letter, meaning the game lacks many of the quality-of-life features and bugfixes that the other versions already received. There's also the issue of it being much more unstable than the other versions for some odd reason, with many more Game Breaking Bugs. As well, since the game's launch, the translation has been a point of contention, with various typos and grammatical errors being found, speech patterns coming off as out-of-character, dynamics being changed due to questionable dialogue alterations, and various other inconsistencies.
  • Banned Episode: Episode 6 of Petit SEKAI, "Leo/need Style", involves the girls of Leo/need trying out various styles until the end punchline of the characters being dressed as lions, as a pun on their band name. However, rather than simply being dressed as lions, the characters recreate a "tribal" look complete with Ganguro darkened skin and make-up. The episode garnered controversy due to presenting Ganguro alongside the aforementioned outfits and items mistaken for Blackface by some English-speaking viewers as part of a gag, with said viewers criticizing it under the official Youtube channel, Discord, and Twitter account. As a result of these complaints, despite disappointment from both Japanese and Western fans, the episode was pulled from the channel indefinitely and an apology was issued. A censored/edited version of the episode was eventually posted, with the African lion-themed outfits being exchanged for a more generic Gyaru Girl look with patterned sweaters, lion ear headbands and no make-up.
  • Cash-Cow Franchise: Colorful Stage! is extremely popular in Japan, as it's one of the most popular games in the country, unseating several of the long-running rhythm games that came before it. The game also rakes in tens of millions in USD every month and consistently generates a ton of social media and online engagement, and is SEGA's biggest free-to-play money earner over Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis.
  • The Cast Show Off: Kent Itou, the voice of Toya, was once a Vocaloid producer himself called 21SeikiP. He got the chance to show off his old talent when he was commissioned to create an original song for the game, "magic number" (in which he is credited as both the composer and lyricist).
  • Casting Gag:
  • Celebrity Voice Actor: An's voice actress, Tomomi-Jiena Sumi, is an active member of Kamen Rider Girls.
  • Colbert Bump:
    • This is actually an invoked trope, as one of the main reasons behind the creation of the game was to introduce VIRTUAL SINGERS/VOCALOID to a new generation of fans, as well as potential producers. In that regard, after the game rose to popularity, it succeeded.
    • The game received a huge boost prior to and on release due to being the first proper VOCALOID music center mobile Rhythm Game on the market. Several other things have contributed to the game's explosive popularity, such as the Virtual Singers being featured as actual characters, popular VOCALOID producers returning to create original songs for the game's original discography, as well as famous VOCALOID songs that aren't limited to having the Cryptons as vocalists being added on a near-monthly basis.
    • The game's popularity has influenced some old and new, upcoming producers to buy the voicebanks for the Virtual Singers. For example, some of the game's commissioned songs have producers using voicebanks they've never used before.
    • As with the DIVA series, expect an existing song to get a massive boost in views by being included in the game.
    • The game has also gone a long way in helping revive interest in VOCALOID games in general. As such, due to the combined success of Project Diva Megamix and Colorful Stage!, a new entry in the Project DIVA series has been in talks according to Word of God.
  • Completely Different Title: COLORFUL STAGE tends to translate the event titles, even when they're already in English. For example, Knock the Future!!, an English title, became A Bright Future!! in the game's English server. Interestingly, the "English" event title "Bout for Beside You" remained the same when brought over to the English server, likely because the translators didn't have any idea how to fix the title so it worked in the game's language.
  • Content Leak: It's very common for unreleased and unannounced songs to get datamined and uploaded to the internet, oftentimes appearing on Twitter and YouTube. It got to the point where SEGA released an official statement acknowledging the leaks and warning leakers not to spoil unrevealed content for other players. While the game has gone to lengths to prevent early leaks from getting out, including cracking down on the game's security, leaks are still a fairly common issue in the fanbase.
  • Creator-Driven Successor:
    • The game is one to the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA series, as both are rhythm games developed by Sega that feature the Crypton virtual singers and a discography that is nearly entirely comprised of VOCALOID songs. Word of God isn't shy about treating it as one and frequently bring up Project DIVA in interviews about Colorful Stage!. As well, there are various references to Project DIVA in Colorful Stage! in the form of Mythology Gags. However, while the characters and songs are familiar, the gameplay is completely different, eschewing the "notes fly towards on-screen markers" gameplay unique to the Project DIVA series in favor of a more traditional "notes scroll down lanes" presentation.
    • This is perhaps the closest SEGA is going to come to releasing a home port of CHUNITHMnote , another vertical-scroll rhythm game with a "hallway" perspective and variable-width notes. The key differences are that Colorful Stage! has 12 "lanes" of notes instead of 16, and it uses the Idol Genre scoring system (wherein points per note are based on card parameters and not just note accuracy) instead of CHUNITHM's strictly performance-based scoring. Also worth noting is that both games have songs that use the Crypton virtual singers, although in the case of CHUNITHM it's just a portion of the songlist, while Colorful Stage! makes the virtual singers the focus.
  • The Danza: Riho Hasegawa is voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa.
  • Darkhorse Casting: As seems to be the trend with recent idol-esque games, the non-VOCALOID cast is almost entirely comprised of up-and-coming voice actors that have yet to make a name for themselves in the industry as opposed to more established voice actors seen more frequently in similar works.
  • Defictionalization:
    • A bevy of real-world events was announced as part of the game's Half Anniversary Celebration, one for each of the game's units. Vivid BAD SQUAD's event is a limited-time concept cafe based on WEEKEND GARAGE, the cafe run by An's father and the main hangout spot for the unit.
    • Colorful Palette sells a "Reproduce Collection", a series of collectible merchandise based on items seen in the game.
      • The first of this series is a box of Phenny-kun plush toys that is featured as an item in Leo/need's School SEKAI.
      • Minori's Fun T-Shirt was made into a real t-shirt that you can buy.
      • Kohane's "Shooting Star" baseball cap that she wears backwards as part of her default "Vivid BAD SQUAD" attire is also available.
    • A real festival based on the KAMIKOU FESTIVAL / Kamiyama High Festival event was held in late 2022.
    • Saki's old stuffed rabbit which appears as a character in Tsukasa's Wonderland SEKAI was turned into a real plushie.
  • Demand Overload:
    • Upon release, the game's servers crashed so severely that the players were unable to access the game without being looped back to the starter screen. The developers quickly started an emergency maintenance in order to address the issue which delayed the game's official release by another hour. Thankfully, the game was fixed by the time the developers stated it would be and the players were given in-game currency as compensation.
    • As a combination of demand overload and technical issues, the first two Rehersal edits of Connect Live were damn near impossible to get into, with the server going down and kicking players out before the actual performance could take place.
    • The 1.5 Anniversary event caused the servers to be taken down within 45 minutes of launch due to the utterly massive influx of people attempting to log in at the same time resulting in persistent connection instability.
    • This was so frequent that in Spring 2022 the developers announced that plans to increase server capacity were gradually underway, and starting from the "On the Stage of Dazzling Light" event the event start time and the event gacha start time were made asynchronous to reduce the odds of the game crashing due to people showing up for the event and the gacha at the same time.
    • In the Global version, the start of the "Smile of a Dreamer" event saw the servers being overloaded to the point where just navigating the menus turned into a chore, never mind taking part in multi-live sessions.
    • Vivid BAD SQUAD 1st Connect Live Crash concerts one and three had to be briefly postponed due to the servers crashing mere minutes after the in-game concert venue opened.
    • The Global Release banner celebrating the Japanese version of the game's 1st Anniversary caused tremendous server lag which much like with "Smile of a Dreamer" made navigating the game impossible.
  • Dueling Works: With several other rhythm games that came before it such as Love Live and THE iDOLM@STER, though it's primarily in competition with Ensemble Stars!, the only current rhythm game that's been able to match it in revenue in the current gacha game climate.
  • Development Gag: Circus-P revealed in 2017 that "ECHO" was originally meant to be sung by Luka, but he pushed for it to be sung by GUMI instead, resulting in the final product. In an ironic twist of fate, the Vivid BAD SQUAD cover of "ECHO" does in fact use Megurine Luka NT, although this might be a coincidence.
  • Fan Translation: Before Colorful Stage was released, there were plenty of fans already translating the main and event stories on various platforms such as Twitter and YouTube. Even after its release, fans continue to do this due to Colorful Stage being a year behind in translated works, as well as because some do not agree with how things are "officially" translated.
  • Fanwork Ban: After the game's release, Word of God released an official statement giving guidelines on what type of fan content is and isn't allowed to be produced of the source material, mainly addressing fan works that could appear damaging to the IP.
  • Follow the Leader:
    • Like most other gacha games, Colorful Stage! has implemented its equivalent of a sparking system that originally appeared in Granblue Fantasy. Doing 30 10-part rolls will give the player 300 scout coins which allow them to trade for a rate-up card of their choosing.
    • Thanks to the game's Colbert Bump effect, some lesser-known or simply lesser-covered songs receiving SEKAI versions have made them more appealing for utaite and Vtubers to cover.
  • God-Created Canon Foreigner:
    • Omu, the creator of most of the 2DMVs in the game, made their own music video for the Wonderlands X Showtime cover of "KING".
      • Following the release of the Wonderlands x Showtime cover of "Fixer" by nulut, Omu returns with another music video.
    • Hachisan, the original illustrator for DECO*27's "Hibana", did the artwork for the Leo/need version's music video.
    • The SEKAI music video for "Positive Dance Time" is illustrated by Kinoshita, who created the original song and music video.
    • While initially, Hachiouji-P claimed that "RAD DOGS", the third commissioned song for the unit Vivid BAD SQUAD, would not be receiving a Virtual Singer version due to having been specifically written for the group, he did create and demonstrate a version featuring Kagamine Len, Kagamine Rin, and Hatsune Miku at VocaNico DJ Party 2022. This version of the song was added to the game in Summer 2022, over a year after the event it was commissioned for ran.
    • Inoue Mana who created the original PV for "Devil's Manner" returned to direct the 2D music video for the SEKAI cover.
    • Sashi Miyama and Akaran who made the original PV for Kikuo's "Love me, Love me, Love me" returned to make the Sekai cover's 2DMV, doing the illustration and text animations respectively.
  • Meaningful Release Date:
    • "Ifuudoudou", a song with heavy sexual overtones covered by Touya, Akito, and KAITO, was released around White Day, an opposite-sex counterpart to Valentine's Day primarily celebrated in eastern countries.
    • "Kagerou Daze" was added to the game on Sunday, August 15th, 2021. Sunday, August 15th is the day during which the song takes place and is often used by fans as a day to recognize the Kagerou Project franchise, and it also happens to be the first August 15th to be on a Sunday since the song's original release in 2010. For further attention to detail, the song was released at 12:30 PM JST, which is the time that the song takes place. This is eventually followed by "Summer Time Record" being released at the same date in August 15 2023.
    • An's delayed event song for Bout for Beside You was released on May 31st to coincide with her Wishing for Your Happiness Upon the Blue Sky! focus banner.
    • 2022 began and ended with a Miku-KAITO duet, as "Cendrillion" by Dios-P was added to the game on January 1st, 2022 (New Year's Day), and "Cantarella" by Kurousa-P was released on December 31st, 2022 (New Year's Eve).
    • "39" was released on March 9th, 2023, also known as Miku Day 2023.
  • Meme Acknowledgement: The "All songs can be Full Combo'd with 2 fingers" statement was eventually re-acknowledged on the 31st episode of WonderShow Channel, where the developers stated that as players have gotten used to the game they have gradually tuned up the difficulty to the point where the original statement is no longer accurate. However, they still stand by making most songs except for the absolute most difficult ones doable by thumb players.
  • Meta Casting: Funny enough, Yui Ogura, Minori's voice actress, was the original motion capture actress for Hatsune Miku in the very first Project DIVA game.
    • Tomori Kusunoki, who is known to write and compose her own songs voices Kanade who also composes songs.
    • Kent Itou was a Vocaloid producer before becoming a voice actor, and the character he voices, Toya, also has a heavy musical background and now gets to sing alongside Virtual Singers.
  • Milestone Celebration:
    • The game was initially revealed as part of the 10th anniversary of the Project DIVA series.
    • The game celebrated its Half Anniversary in March 2021. This included announcements for various projects, including new merchandise (among them a limited edition Yamaha piano), real-world events featuring the game's cast, the first CD singles for the game's original songs, and the release of the game's second Lv. 33 song, "Hatsune Miku no Gekishou".
  • Newbie Boom: According to Word of God, one of the main purposes behind the creation of the game was to introduce a new generation to the Vocaloid scene, which it successfully did after its rapid rise to success.
  • No Dub for You: There are no plans for the English version of the game to get a dub. Virtual Lives will be subtitled so players don't miss out on interactions.
  • No Export for You:
    • While the developers already forewarned it, Connect Live is region-locked to Japan, with overseas fans needing to use a VPN to experience it. Recordings were eventually added to the EN server, but the live experience is still region-locked.
    • As per standard from past VOCALOID and other rhythm games, "Senbonzakura" is not present in the Korean version due to Values Dissonance.
    • "Gimme x Gimme", "Ifuudoudou", and "on the rocks" were removed from the Korean version due to violating Korean age rating laws. The former two were able to be re-added, however.
    • The event Revival my Dream was cut from the global server due to controversy surrounding the perceived themes of the play Wonderlands x Showtime puts on in the story, as well as due to the backlash the event outfits received.
    • The "Retro" outfit pass will not be ported over onto the Korean server due to the backlash surrounding the outfits being modeled after the Taisho Era of Japan. It was instead replaced with the KR server's own unique "Sweets"-themed pass outfit.
    • The song Teikoku Shoujo was not added to the EN server for unknown reasons, with staff never even addressing its absence.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content:
    • A regular contest series called "ProSeka NEXT" allows users to submit their own songs to participate in themed contests for the chance to get their songs into the game.
    • May 2022 saw the introduction of a contest called "ProSeka ULTIMATE", which aims specifically to recruit songs considered appropriate for "max difficulty" (Level 33 or higher).
    • The monthly Premium Mission Pass outfit is also chosen from designs submitted through Piapro and Twitter.
  • Portmanteau Couple Name: Some singer pairings have inspired appropriate names due to being consistently paired together.
    • The Akito/Toya duet (used for "Fragile" and "Yobanashi Deceive") is collectively known as "AkiToya" or "TouAki".
    • The Ena/Mizuki duet (used for "Charles" and "Keitai Renwa") is called "MizuEna".
  • Portmanteau Series Nickname: the game is often called "ProSeka" by Japanese fans, while English-speaking fans usually refer to it as "PJSekai".
  • Release Date Change:
    • The commissioned song that was meant to release with the Bout for Beside You event in October 2021 was delayed indefinitely due to the producer falling ill. It was eventually released on May 31st, 2022 to coincide with An's Wishing for Your Happiness Upon the Blue Sky! mixed event banner, though by a new producer.
      • The song would end up being delayed on the Global server as well, due to development issues.
    • Likewise, the 2DMV for "Kokoroyohou" was delayed due to unforeseen health complications on part of the commissioned artist.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers:
    • The VIRTUAL SINGER version of "Chururira Chururira Daddadda" is not included in the song roster due to AH Software not allowing for Yuzuki Yukari's voice to be used in the game.
    • The Vivid BAD SQUAD version of "Aun no Beats" is excluded from the SEKAI Album Vol. 2 release. This is reportedly likely due to producer Hanyuu Maigo, who has forbidden covers of his works to be sold.
  • Staff-Created Fan Work:
    • The official Colorful Palette Twitter account occasionally posts fan art of the characters.
    • Minori Suzuki, the voice actress for Ena, has covered "Kagirinaku Haiiro e" multiple times, including a piano arrangement and in her own live concerts.
    • Many of the characters seiyuu upload covers of songs that are in the game that aren't normally sung by the character they voice on their social media accounts.
    • Tsukasa's voice actor Daisuke Hirose regularly posts dance covers to songs in the game on his social media.
  • Trolling Creator: One of the April Fools' Day 2022 area conversations featuring N25's Rin and Wonderland x Showtime's MEIKO and KAITO addressed N25 KAITO's absence, with WxS MEIKO reassuring Rin that KAITO will be there soon. Come the very next N25 event, it was N25 Len, who was similarly missing from the SEKAI, who was announced to be introduced in the event instead of KAITO, who would instead go on to be the last Virtual Singer to complete SEKAI just under a year later.
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: The official Discord server now forbids any discussions of the relationship or shipping between Kagamine Len and Rin due to inevitable contention regarding their ambiguous nature.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The original Bout for Beside You event song had an unnamed producer working on it, but due to unforeseen health complications, the producer had to quit during production, and Yunosuke was brought on to work on a song instead, which was titled "Awake Now" and released on May 31st, 2022, 7 months after the event.
    • There are some things from the Beta version of the game that never made it into the official release, such as SEKAI-specific stamps for the non-Hatsune Miku Virtual Singers. It wasn't until the game's second anniversary that the other Virtual Singers would finally receive SEKAI-Specific stamps.
    • There were plans to have the Virtual Singers in every SEKAI since the beginning, but issues with making the Virtual Singers sing with the groups arose and the Virtual Singers' SEKAI appearances ended up being staggered across events.
    • An early draft of Street SEKAI MEIKO's character design depicted her with a different hairstyle from her base form, suggesting that Colorful Palette may have considered giving the Virtual Singers other than Miku different appearances across SEKAI at one point, rather than just doing so for Miku.
    • The second official fanbook depicts a 3D rendering of a stage for "Otome Kaibou".
    • Early character designs for MORE MORE JUMP! reveal that Shizuku almost had blonde hair instead of pale blue hair, Minori was almost a brunette, and Airi almost had twin drills instead of Girlish Pigtails.
    • For Leo/need's early designs, Saki almost had a short brown bob and Honami short black hair. Ichika more or less looks the same save for the outfit, however, the early draft of Shiho looks nothing like the one that appears in the game currently.
    • The early drafts of Nightcord at 25:00 shows that Mizuki almost had short brown hair and Mafuyu short darker hair. Kanade and Ena more or less look the same save for Ena's hair being somewhat longer. N25 Miku almost had turquoise twintails instead of gray with a pale turquoise gradient.
    • An early draft of Tsukasa shows that he almost had black hair instead of the blonde-to-amber gradient he has today while Nene almost had straight blonde hair and orange eyes. Emu more or less looks similar to her current self, save for her outfit.
    • Rui's unit outfit was originally themed after The Joker and Willy Wonka to give it a "Chocolate Mafia" theme.
    • Early builds of the game make it look a lot more like BanG Dream! in design and playstyle than it does currently.
  • Word of God:
    • The reason that was given by the devs for no subtitles on music is that it would be too much of a logistical nightmare to get accurate translations for every song, a problem that Project DIVA: Future Tone also suffered from as a result of the sheer songlist volume.
    • When asked if Emu's Catchphrase is spelled "Wonderhoi" or "Wandahoi" in English, the devs responded with a third option answer: "Wonderhoy", presumably a portmanteau of "wonder" and "ahoy".
    • The current slated plan is for COLORFUL STAGE! to catch up to Colorful Stage! by Summer 2022. This is accomplished by releasing songs much sooner, giving events shorter time frames, reducing the time gap between events, and occasionally shuffling around events (despite the fact that they are intended to be viewed in release order). This plan shifted later down the line to being exactly 1 year behind JP by Summer 2022.
    • The ridiculous amount of Spotlight-Stealing Squad in regards to 3DMVs eventually became a topic on the Project Message blog, where due to logistical issues with commissioned songs and a strong desire to respect the original Virtual Singer used in the song in most cases (such exceptions including "BURIKI NO DANCE", "Ifuudoudou" and songs originally produced in non-Piapro software), characters like KAITO, Luka, and MEIKO have had extremely few 3DMV starring roles. The dev team's plan, in this case, is to feature the VIRTUAL SINGERS in 3-4 3DMV's for newly written songs by March of 2023. However, they expect that fixing the balance with SEKAI versions of songs will take longer to solve due to the desire to "respect" the original image of the song, though they are considering adding new SEKAI versions of songs featuring a different Virtual Singer, such as "Roki", after strongly considering which character fits the image of the song.
    • When asked if there are more cross-unit covers planned for the game, Kondo answered that these covers would only be reserved for special occasions (e.g. Cup Noodle collaboration songs, April Fools covers).
    • On the topic of reusing artists for commissioned songs, the stated plan is that they will attempt to exhaust as many VOCALOID producers as they possibly can before asking for second commissions. The only exceptions are "special" songs like collaborations and unique events like April Fools, which are excluded from this cycle.
    • Monthly WonderShow Channel streams feature "ProSeka Question Box" segments where fans can ask the developers at Colorful Palette various questions. In addition to pertinent queries about the future of the game, they also offer a Casual segment where they reveal small tidbits about the characters and the world. Some of these responses include:
      • Akito and Ena have the same favorite foods, but if asked to choose between them, Akito would choose pancakes while Ena would pick cheesecake.
      • In addition to hating vegetables, Rui also cannot eat vegetable-like foods, such as watermelons.
      • Kanade owns seven jerseys but keeps buying more of them.
      • Nene-robo is technically on payroll from Phoenix Wonderland since she qualifies as a cast member; the money she earns goes towards her maintenance.
      • Shizuku and Shiho do not go to school together since Shizuku typically has morning club activities. They eat lunch together once a month, but they always eat dinner together as a family.
      • Ichika eats yakisoba bread every day when it is available for purchase.
      • Tsukasa does not like butterflies. He thinks butterflies look pretty, but their face and legs are still too insect-like to enjoy them.
      • The Shinonome family uses carrots in their curry. Ena and Akito's mom emphasizes good eating habits even if they don't follow them very well.
      • An can eat ketchup despite being a tomato-based food because it doesn't feel like eating tomatoes.
      • Airi and Ena have the same yellow cat cushion in their respective bedrooms, which they bought together during middle school.
      • Of the four Leo/need members, Honami is the fastest at a 100m dash due to her relative physical fitness. This is followed by Shiho, who has above average speed, Ichika, who has average speed, and lastly Saki, who cannot run fast due to her poor physical health.
      • Emu's favorite flavor of taiyaki is red bean. She also likes custard, chocolate and okonomiyaki flavors.
      • Toya is capable of getting on airplane flights despite his fear of heights but is absolutely terrified of them.
      • Haruka and Akito get up earliest in the day, while Ena gets up the latest. This is primarily due to differences in their personal day/night cycles.
      • Akito is also scared of small dogs like chihuahuas.
      • Rui is faster at running from teachers than Tsukasa since the latter tries to avoid running inside of the school building when possible.
      • An keeps about 100 hamster photos inside the "Kohane🐹" folder on her phone. Said folder does not actually contain any photos of Kohane, and all photos of An and Kohane together go in a special folder.
      • The Hinomoris use a sweet curry base since Shizuku doesn't like spicy food, but since Shiho likes hers with a kick their mom splits the pot after cooking and adds chili powder to her portion.
      • Shinei Shinonome is Ena and Akito's father's real name and not a pseudonym.
      • Kanade is above average at all non-musical fields of study, except physical education.
      • Airi has followed Ena's selfie account since middle school. She gets worried when Ena uploads large batches of selfies at once.

General Trivia

  • An early interview with the Game information site "INSIDE" explained the basic concepts behind each unit, such as explaining that each unit was conceptualized to be based on an existing music genre, with those being Band/Rock (Leo/need), Idol (MORE MORE JUMP!), Street Music (Vivid BAD SQUAD), Musical (Wonderlands x Showtime) and Underground Music (Nightcord at 25:00).
    • The developers of Colorful Stage! had intended to create mixed-gender units from the beginning due to the VIRTUAL SINGER group itself being mixed-gender and to appeal to the various types of Vocaloid fans.
    • Each character was designed so that they could stand beside each other without overshadowing anyone. This decision was also influenced by the simplistic designs of the Virtual Singers, who the original cast also end up interacting with.
    • Each unit's attire was also based on the problems they faced in their stories. For example, while Leo/need is based on a rock band, their unit outfits look closer to school uniforms, reflecting that their conflict is centered around school life. Nightcord at 25:00 also wears school uniforms as unit outfits, though they're based on sailor uniforms with a dark scheme to them to reflect the "realistic darkness" the unit faces compared to the other main units.
    • Wonderlands x Showtimes unit theme is "Theme Park Cast and Roles", and each character's individual outfit is based on a Prince (Tsukasa), a Forest Fairy (Nene), an Angel (Emu), and a Villain (Rui).
    • Vivid BAD SQUAD's unit outfits are notably more mismatched than the other units' because each character reflects a different subset of "Street-style".
