Couple Bomb: The film was written by and starring Jenny McCarthy and directed by her then-husband John Asher. They divorced in September 2005, the same month the film was released (in 44 theaters) and went down in flames.
John Asher hasn't directed anything bigger than this movie again, mostly limiting himself to acting and directing some video shorts and episodes of TV series. (His biggest film since is reuniting with his ex-wife McCarthy in a Takenspoof titled Tooken.)
Jenny McCarthy hasn't tried her hand at writing a film again.
This film dirtied any chances of Jenny McCarthy becoming a big movie star, with most of her media appearances since constituting of Made-for-TV Movies, Reality TV, and appearances on programming such as The View (as a co-host) or The Masked Singer (as a judge). McCarthy also became notorious afterwards for her rather controversial view on vaccines, establishing herself as a recognizable face of the anti-vax movement.
Not that she would be considered a "star", but Kam Heskin, the actress who plays Rebecca's friend Carrie, had a pretty solid career as a supporting actress until this flop, playing Caitlin Deschanel on the daytime soap opera Sunset Beach and appearing in Catch Me If You Can. After this dud, her only screen work was a temporary run in the soap opera Passions and eventually replacingJulia Stiles as the protagonist in Direct to Video sequels of The Prince & Me. The latest one released in 2010 is her final acting credit so far.
Carmen Electra had already been recognized as Ms. Fanservice in various comedies like Scary Movie and Starsky & Hutch before this flop. Afterwards, she appeared in Seltzer and Friedberg's movies in sexpot roles. All four of their movies that she starred in seems to have killed her career, for she has only done direct-to-DVD films and reality television work since then.
Victor Webster started out with a minor role on Sunset Beach alongside Kam Heskin, before progressing to more substantial roles in the soap opera Days of Our Lives and the superhero series Mutant X. Aside from a starring role on Continuum, his career afterwards has been in a HallmarkMade-for-TV Movie purgatory.
Dirty Love received four Golden Raspberry Awards at the 2005 edition of the awards: Worst Picture, Worst Director (John Mallory Asher), Worst Actress (Jenny McCarthy), Worst Screenplay (McCarthy). It was also nominated for Worst Supporting Actress (Carmen Electra, lost to Paris Hilton in House of Wax) and Worst Screen Couple (McCarthy and "anyone dumb enough to befriend or date her", lost to Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman in Bewitched). The Razzies acknowledged that the film was smaller than usual nominees, comparing giving Worst Picture and other "honors" to this film withlike how the Academy Awards also "spot a small, worthy title among better known but less deserving films".
