The original series

The original series was animated mainly in France with stop-motion puppet animation by Serge Danot with Ivor Wood assisting before it was later adapted by the BBC for the English version. The show produced four series until 1990.

The 2007 revival series

When the 2005 film was released, a revival of the series came in 2007 under the direction of Graham Ralph of Silver Fox Films by re-using the character designs and CGI animation from the 2005 film. The revival series was animated by Action Synthese which worked on the film. Only two seasons were produced.

Films

1. "Dougal and the Blue Cat" (1970): When a blue cat named Buxton enters the Magic Garden, everyone takes a liking to him, except for Dougal, who is suspicious of him. He was proven correct after discovering the cat’s plan to take over the garden. With all his friends captured and imprisoned, it’s up to Dougal to save them.
2. "The Magic Roundabout" (2005): When Dougal accidentally releases an evil ice wizard Zeebad from his prison who then traps Florence, Mr. Rusty, and the children within an icy cell on the roundabout by freezing it over, he is tasked by Zebedee to go a quest with all his friends to find three enchanted diamonds and place them on the roundabout that will reimprison Zeebad before he finds them first.
