Recap / The Loud House S 5 E 10 School Of Shock Electshunned

Go To

"'School of Shock":

After her first-grade teacher gets fed up with her know-it-all attitude, Lisa takes over as her classmates' teacher.
  • Angrish: Miss Allegra when Lisa gets on her nerves.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Miss Allegra returns just in time to rescue Lisa from the dinosaur.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Dare-bot returns in this episode. However, it is called Dare-bot 2.0 due to the original Dare-bot being destroyed in "How Double Dare You".
    • It’s shown again that Lisa is bald and wears a wig.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Dare-bot tries to fight the dinosaur, but is defeated by one whack from the dino’s tail, which knocks his head off.
  • Day in the Limelight: For Lisa.
  • Fluffy the Terrible: The dinosaur that attacks the school is named Dolly. Justified, as she was created as a substitute for the Dolly the Dinosaur children's book Miss Allegra reads.
  • Gasshole:
    • The first grade students fart when Lisa tries to teach them during story time. Yes, even the females.
    • Dolly lets out a loud burp after drinking a juice box.
  • Giving Them the Strip: Lisa slips out of her labcoat to escape Dolly. It doesn’t help for long though.
  • Shout-Out:
    • To Jurassic Park, where a banner falls to the ground while the dinosaur rampages.
    • There's also one to Aliens, when Miss Allegra tells the dinosaur to "Get away from her, you beast!"
    • Dare-Bot fights the dinosaur while both are standing among miniature-buildings, making it look like a classic Kaiju-battle.
    • The title is a take on to 2003's School of Rock. Its short lived tv show adaptation was even on Nickelodeon, and had Breanna Yde, the original voice of Ronnie Anne.
  • Spit Take: Lisa spits out coffee when the phrase on her mug (“teachers bring learning to life”) gives her the idea to get an actual dinosaur to use in class.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Lisa may have the intellect to be a teacher, but she and her peers/students are first-graders, and the stuff she tries teaching them are much too advanced and/or complex for them to understand.

"Electshunned":

Leni runs for mayor in a battle against Mayor Davis. Things get hairy when Mayor Davis's campaign manager, Vic, ends up spending the campaign digging up dirt on Leni.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: See Call-Back.
  • Attack of the Political Ad: Both Leni and Mayor Davis do this to each other with smear campaign videos.
  • Baby Talk: Vic, when calling Leni an "inexperienced baby".
  • Bittersweet Ending: Leni loses the election, but her parents are proud of her for being true to herself—and Mayor Davis, inspired by Leni's actions, fires Vic as her campaign manager and gives Leni a job as an intern in her office so she can help make her ideas a reality.
  • Call-Back:
  • Day in the Limelight: For Leni.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Invoked by Vic when he tries to turn the tide against Leni, complete with a shot of Leni giddily taking Vanzilla on a joyride with a manic grin on her face.
Vic: Leni Loud failed her driving test 14 times. How do we know she won't drive over your rights or family?
  • Easily Elected: Downplayed. Leni tries to run for mayor of Royal Woods. Although she doesn't win, the fact that someone as young as her was allowed to become a candidate is impossible in real life.
  • Hate Sink: Vic can be considered this, due to his mean-spirited attempts to get Mayor Davis voted and even acting mean to Leni and her family, out of spite more than anything. It’s rather satisfying when he gets fired and his pet lizard attacks him.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Lola dismisses Luan’s campaign-themed whoopie cushions as a bad idea, and claims Leni will think likewise since they share the same style. No sooner is she done talking that Leni notices the cushions and likes them.
  • It's Personal: Leni, once Mayor Davis insults her fashion choices of wearing denim on denim.
  • Just a Kid: Vic tries to turn the tide against Leni by pointing out she's too young to be mayor, whereas Mayor Davis is a full-grown adult.
  • Literal-Minded:
    • In a flashback, when one of Mayor Davis's assistants needed toner for the copier, Leni gave it makeup.
    • Leni thinks the race to win the elections is literally a race.
    • When the Louds sneak into the mayor's office to dig up some dirt on Mayor Davis, Lana brings a shovel.
  • Mama Bear: Rita tries to chase down Vic in Vanzilla after he insults Leni.
  • Meaningless Villain Victory: Though Vic succeeds in getting Mayor Davis reelected, she ends up firing him because of his actions during the election.
  • Noodle Incident: Apparently, Flip tried to run for mayor during the last election, and lost because Vic was able to dig up plenty of dirt on him.
  • Politicians Kiss Babies: When Vic claims that doing this is out of style, he suggests that Mayor Davis kiss pets instead, such as his own pet gila monster.
  • Quote Mine: Lincoln makes an ad using doctored footage of Mayor Davis that sounds like she dislikes cat videos and wants them banned.
The real Mayor Davis: I'd wish there was a manicure for all my opponent's wacky ideas... The Louds are out of control. They were banned from every pool in town... Are those the family values we want? I certainly don't. Vote Davis!
Mayor Davis, as edited by Lincoln: [on cat videos] I certainly don't. I'd wish they were banned and never came back.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Leni announces she will no longer reveal dirt about Mayor Davis and will run a fair campaign instead, all her followers leave in disappointment.
  • Sleazy Politician: Downplayed with Mayor Davis. By Leni's own admission, she's a nice woman who's done genuinely good things for Royal Woods. That said, she still went along with Vic's idea for getting reelected through mudslinging.
  • Stylistic Suck: Lincoln's ad for Leni's campaign, which is exactly as poorly made as one would expect an 11-year-old to make.
  • Your Make Up Is Running: Both Leni and Lola's mascara runs after Rita drives Vanzilla into a lake.
