  • Strawman Has a Point: Vic tries to turn the tide against Leni by pointing out she's too young to be mayor, whereas Mayor Davis is a full-grown adult. While he did so just for the aforementioned tide-turning, he's not wrong in stating that Leni is only 17, as it is a young age to be one (While there are a few instances of people becoming mayor at around 18 or so, the average age of candidacy in Michigan is around the early 30s at least).
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: The episode was itself about an election, but it, in the opinion of many, quickly devolved into a thinly-veiled Author Tract about American politics, especially coming just a month after the inauguration of Joe Biden. Leni, an unambiguously Nice Girl who only wanted to have a debate about policy and was mocked for it by Mayor Davis’ campaign manager, was quickly reduced to flinging personal attacks at her opponent after her opponent started personally attacking Leni’s own family. Adding to this, Davis’ campaign manager was a pretty blatant rip-off of former Donald Trump campaign manager Anthony Scaramucci. Nickelodeon's shows have never been shy about social commentary, but it seems they really dropped all pretenses with this episode.
