"Peace and Quiet" provides examples of:

  • Birthday Episode: In this episode, Binky comes to Garfield's house, having mistaken it for Mrs. Fogerty's house, to wish him a happy birthday. In the end, Garfield finds out that it's his own birthday, and that Jon hired Binky to perform for him.
  • Brick Joke: Early in the episode, Garfield plugs up the sink with a cork so it won't disturb him. After he eats a chocolate-covered tabasco hot pepper, he goes to the sink to extinguish the flame, finding it backed up from when he plugged it earlier. He unplugs the sink, and the water pushes Binky away.
  • Chimney Entry: Binky disguises himself as Santa Claus and enters Garfield's house through the chimney after Garfield kicks him out.
Garfield: Santa Clown? Give me a break!
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Had Garfield pretended to be Mrs. Fogarty as soon as Binky arrived, the clown would have finished his task and immediately left without any more fuss.
  • Determinator: Binky has been hired to wish Mrs. Edna Fogarty a happy 97th birthday, and he absolutely refuses to leave until he's done so. He even quotes the famous slogan of the U.S. Postal Service to back himself up:
Binky: Neither rain nor snow nor gloom of night—nor cat with bad disposition—will stay THIS clown from his appointed rounds!
  • Disguised in Drag: Near the end of the episode, Garfield puts on a gray wig, purple dress, and glasses to pass himself off as Mrs. Fogarty so Binky will leave him alone. He then tells the viewers that he's doing the real Mrs. Fogarty a favor, as now she doesn't have to listen to Binky.
  • Don't Wake the Sleeper: Jon puts Garfield to bed after having found out that the fat cat stayed up all night watching a 14-hour documentary on coat hangers. He and Odie decide to go shopping so as not to disturb him, only for Garfield to end up annoyed anyway by both a dripping faucet and the arrival of Binky the Clown.
  • Downer Ending: When Garfield finds out it's his birthday and that Jon hired Binky to perform for him, he runs away to the desert for some peace and quiet, only to find Binky waiting for him there.
  • Dripping Disturbance: When Garfield tries to sleep, his sleep is disturbed by a dripping kitchen faucet. He plugs the faucet up with a cork.
  • Fire-Breathing Diner: Garfield breathes fire after he eats a chocolate-covered tabasco hot pepper. He then goes to the sink to extinguish the flame.
  • Foreshadowing: After Garfield kicks Binky out of his house, Binky says "I have to finish my birthday special; I have another house to do after this!" At the end of the episode, it is revealed that it's Garfield's birthday, and that Jon hired Binky to perform at his house.
  • Forgot Their Own Birthday: After Garfield finally tries to sleep after getting rid of Binky the clown, Jon and Odie come home and surprise him for his birthday; which apparently Garfield was so just busy trying to sleep that he didn't remember. However the joy for him is short-lived when Jon shows him who he hired for the celebration...
  • Here We Go Again!: Garfield finally manages to get rid of Binky, only to find out from Jon that it's his birthday and that Jon arranged for "a special surprise..."
  • I Ate WHAT?!: Binky offers Garfield some candy, and the fat cat happily takes a sample—only for Binky to remark "That's chocolate-covered TABASCO HOT PEPPER!" Cue Garfield immediately sputtering and flaming at the mouth.
  • No Indoor Voice: Binky, as per usual. He never stops shouting, making noise, and generally being a nuisance.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: After Garfield learns that Jon hired Binky to perform for the fat cat's birthday, he rushes from the house and runs for miles, finally climbing a mountain in the desert. But just when he thinks he's safe, he realizes that a certain clown managed to get there before him...
Binky: I THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER GET HERE!
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: When Garfield realizes that Binky won't leave until he completes his job of wishing Mrs. Edna Fogarty a happy birthday, he dons a purple dress, gray wig, and glasses to pass himself off as the old woman. This somehow fools the clown, even though Garfield is still, you know, an orange-furred cat.
  • Pie in the Face: Binky's present to Garfield has a tag on it that says "Warning: Splut enclosed." Garfield then asks what a "Splut" is, opens the box, and is hit in the face with a pie. He then says "Oh, right. I keep forgetting."
  • Squirting Flower Gag: Binky does this gag to Garfield as part of his birthday surprise.
  • Tempting Fate: At the episode's end, Garfield clambers up a mountain and declares "At last! A place where I can have peace and quiet." Three guesses who's waiting for him at the top, ready to sing his birthday song.

"Wanted: Wade" provides examples of:

  • Alliterative Title: Wanted: Wade.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: After he tears the tag off a couch pillow, Wade has a nightmare where he's in a prison cell with two dangerous criminals. This exchange occurs:
First Criminal: I've robbed 50 banks and 60 gas stations.
Second Criminal: Yeah? well, I robbed 70 banks, see, and 90 gas stations. And I stole the Klopman Diamond. What Are You in For?
Wade: Uh, I tore a tag off a pillow.
(the criminals run for the bars and scream for help)
  • Felony Misdemeanor:
    • In Wade's nightmare, tearing a tag off a pillow is so bad a crime it even gets two hardened robbers of banks and gas stations to grab the bars of the cell and want out when Wade admits his "crime" to them.
    • Wade sees a police car on the farm and gets him into his panic. When Orson tries to convince Wade he won't go to jail for it, a voice tells them and Roy "We know you're in there, come out with your hands up! We have you surrounded!" The three adults run for it. It was all Booker playing a joke. Sheldon asks if it was very nice, and Booker, in an Ironic Echo asks "What harm can it do?"
  • Longer-Than-Life Sentence: In Wade's nightmare, Orson sentences him to 9,999 years in prison for tearing the tag off a couch pillow. Wade then sighs with relief, saying "At least I didn't get life."
  • Mattress-Tag Gag: In this episode, Wade pulls a tag off a couch pillow, and when he sees a police car near Roy's coop (Roy's stereo has been causing disturbances), he thinks the police are after him.
  • Rake Take: When Wade decides to sew the tag back on after having ripped it off, he accidentally steps on a rake, gets knocked out, and has a nightmare where he's a wanted criminal.

"Garfield Goes Hawaiian" provides examples of:

  • Here We Go Again!: At the end of the episode, Garfield catches the Alaskan Cat Flu.
  • Hypno Fool: While not being actual hypnosis, Garfield's Hawaiian cat flu causes him to dance the hula or do something Hawaiian whenever someone mentions something Hawaiian.
  • Pun-Based Title: This episode's title is a reference to the 1961 film, Gidget Goes Hawaiian.
  • Sick Episode: In this episode, Garfield contracts the Hawaiian Cat Flu, which causes him to dance whenever something Hawaiian is mentioned.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Jon enters Garfield on a show about silly animal stunts, where the winner will get $1,000.00. On the night of the show, Garfield wants to be at his best health, so he takes his medicine, curing himself of the Hawaiian Cat Flu. When Jon tries to get him to perform, he ends up making a fool of himself. Fortunately, the audience finds what Jon does funny, and he ends up winning the money after all.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: During the auditions for the silly pet show, one of the acts is an octopus that knits while tapdancing. The auditoner responds "Not another one".
