Kure Karura uses Proposal! It's Super Effective! Ohma has been baffled!
The corporate world of Kengan Ashura is bloody, brutal, over-the-top and absolutely hilarious.

General

  • The premise of having one-on-one duels in place of corporate warfare and assassinations is quite childish... So, of course, the Kengan matches were originally the idea of a child.
  • Anytime somebody mistakes Kazuo for being a badass.
  • Anytime Rei is snuggling against Rino. Bonus if he says something serious.
  • Anytime (most of the time) Hanafusa wants to dissect someone.
  • Anytime Ohma runs from Karura.
  • Basically a third of what comes out of Yohei Bando's mouth is this, because literally nothing gets a rise out of him, no matter how goofy it is.

Ashura

  • Kazuo assuming that Nogi wants him to fight for the Kengan matches. Nogi's initial stoicism turns into a WTF face for a moment. Then he actually admits that isn't a bad idea.
  • Chapter 3
    • Ohma kicking Ivan Karaev in the family jewels.
  • Right after finding himself both a member of the Kengan Association and indebted with Nogi for 100 million yen, Yamashita goes back home with Ohma... And finds his second son Yasuo with two of his delinquent friends, who try and extort Ohma. Ohma only asks who they are after he's already slapped Yasuo and one of the delinquents silly.
    • The other delinquent ran and called up their gang, about a hundred of very hammy Bōsōzoku who threaten to lynch Ohma and burn down the Yamashita home. One Gilligan Cut later, and they're really beat up and on their knees begging Ohma for forgiveness while their boss is knocked out on the ground foaming from the mouth.
      • For some reason, Ohma took care of smashing up their vehicles too.
      • The name of the gang: Empire of Chaos and Evil.
    • After all's said and done, Kazuo is just tearfully happy these events have straightened Yasuo out. (Ignoring the fact that Ohma intentionally scared him into it.)
  • Chapter 38: The start of the chapter has the Kure clan hyping up Karura as a monster even by their standards, and then it cuts to the girl herself declaring that she wants to have Ohma's babies.
Kazuo: Uhhh.. Young lady? Do you think you could explain what you're...
Karura: (To Ohma) LET'S MAKE BABIES!
    Kazuo: She's ignoring me?
    • Everyone's confused and bewildered reaction to this, especially Ohma himself, who is utterly wide eyed in shock (or just looks like his brain just shorted out in the anime.) and trying to process this situation the hardest of anyone there.
    • After finding some time to think, he gently puts Karura down... literally. Then he sprints off with the most serious look on his face.
Kazuo: WHERE ARE YOU GOING, OHMA!?
Kushida: I wonder what's wrong with Ohma?
Kaede: He probably ran because the situation was too confusing for him.
Lihito: What is he, a middle schooler?
    • Lihito's reply when Karura asked for Ohma's name.
    Lihito: Kelp-thulu the dark one.
    Kushida: It's Tokita Ohma.
    • In response, Karura flashes an unsettling Slasher Smile after she learns Ohma's name.
    • The very fact that this girl just attacked a man, declared to him that she wanted to have his children and didn't even know his name yet until after.
    • The Latin American dub of the scene is even more hilarious as Karura is raunchier and explicitly asks Ohma for his semen to sire his children. When Ohma puts her down, he runs away SCREAMING WHILE SOMEHOW KEEPING HIS MOUTH SHUT AND HIS EXPRESSION CALM, giving the impression that Karura traumatized him for life.
  • After the situation above, Karura tells his grandfather Erioh that she's in love. Erioh is stunned in silence for a few seconds before happily congratulating her.... and then when she's out of earshot, he learns that it's Ohma from the fight with Lihito. Then, well... he jumps to conclusions way too quickly.
Erioh: THAT LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT!!!!!
    Karura: Hmm? Was that Grandfather?
    • If that isn't enough, he orders the clan to watch Ohma and utterly kill him if he comes near Karura again. Poor Ohma.
    • This is also the moment that the Kure clan's Removal technique is revealed. By Erioh, cracking the ground beneath him in an irrational tantrum.
    • Meanwhile, Raian is laughing his ass off as much as the reader is.
    Raian: My sides!
  • Chapter 40: Ohma running from Karura across the beach. With Erioh watching with a pair of Binoculars that he's crushing out of anger.
    • Hollis Kure directly questioning Rei why he entered the tournament, when his clan's creed is that "We will not accept any cases concerned with political strife." Then Rino walks by in a swimsuit and asks Rei to join her on her way to the beach, which he happily accepts. Hollis quickly pieces it together and is in utter disbelief.
Hollis: You broke your creed for a woman?-
Rei: Goodbye Hollis. I hope I get the chance to face off against you someday.
    ...
Hollis: Unbelievable. He chose a woman over his creed... I'm surrounded by fools... I guess this is youth.
  • Chapter 45: Upon recognizing Adam Dudley, Jerry Tyson jumps into the commentator booth, grabs a mike and starts commentating alongside a very confused Sayaka.
Sayaka: Where did he get a mike?
  • Chapter 54: Rei pouting like a small child at Lihito getting medical aid from Rino, and jumping headfirst into her boobs the moment he gets a chance.
  • Chapter 68: Kazuo unintentionally throwing a soda can at Julius' head from a blind spot in the hallway. Both Ren and Julius instantly start overestimating him for this.
    • Then when Ren tries to knock Kazuo out by flinging a needle at him, Kazuo quickly bows his head down to apologize to Julius, narrowly avoiding it. Ren mistakes this as a badass moment too.
Kazuo: Huh? Did something just whizz past my head?
    • Only after they leave that Kazuo and Ohma notice Sawada's battered body behind a soda machine. Kazuo's naturally freaking out. As for Ohma;
    • Togawa thanking Ohma and Kazuo for stopping by and (accidentally) saving Sawada from Julius. When Ohma says they didn't do anything, Togawa mistakes this for him pulling a I Was Just Passing Through (which was literally what they were doing) and starts crushing on him.
  • Chapter 84: Kaolan recalls his first fight with Saw, and how after it ended in a victory by judge's decision, it caused Saw to harass him for the next decade for a rematch, crossing borders and even challenge a naked Kaolan in the shower.
    Tadashi Iida: ...That's rough, buddy.
  • Chapter 88: In the hallway with Kazuo and Kiryu, Matsuda gets to meet the mascots of Tochigi Destiny Land, Mockey A.K.A Masami Nezu and Honald. note . Her hugging and taking a selfie with them is adorable enough, then Kiryu notes how much she knows about them. It gets Matsuda flustered and she mentions how her "awakening" started from an anthropology slash fic featuring Monkey and Honald.
    • Mockey randomly strips out of his costume with only the mask on and heads to his match with Rei Mikazuchi. The sight of this promptly shocks the consciousness (and likely childhood dreams) right out of Matsuda.
    • He's also so tall that his head could pass through the ceiling, forcing him crouch his head down and shuffle along the hallway to his match like a zombie. Kiryu is left wondering how someone like him can even fit into the costume.
    • Shion and Hatsumi's reaction to him walking past in the hallway, still wearing the Mockey mask and walking weirdly. They both go blank-eyed from shock.
Shion/Hatsumi: What kind of creature is that?
    • He's still wearing the mask after he walked into the arena. And after his introduction is done, he kicks himself the face and splits the mask open. Underneath is Masami Nezu, a former biker boss with a pompadour who is crying his eyes out for destroying Mockey's image. Least to say, the audience did not expect this.
Kaede, Kushida and Kaneda: What the hell!?
    • In the anime; where each fighter gets an over-the-top introduction, complete with elaborate projected visual effects showing them in a variety of poses, culminating with a portrait of them next to their weight and height stats; all of the images used in Masami's introduction are cartoon images of Mockey.
  • Chapter 90.5:
    • Cosmo's injury from his first match starts acting up. Adam tells him it's because he's moving too much; the manga points out that it's his fault in the first place.
    • Then Cosmo goes to the medical office for a painkiller. Instead, he finds to be what looks like Kokomi getting down and dirty with someone behind a curtain (She's actually just making suggestive noises while straddling Sawada, who's complaining that he's not being treated by the "hot doctor" (Hajime) instead.) and shuts the door.
Akira: Is it me, or do you look worse now?
    Cosmo: ...I'm okay...
Kokomi: You can't do that doctor!
    Hajime: Really? Not even Murobuchi?
    Kokomi: Of course not!
Hajime: I see... Then how about Mokichi?
    Elena: !?
    Kokomi: You can't dissect anybody!
Hajime: Alright then! Now that we agreed on dissecting Sawada, let's start by-
Kokomi: We haven't agreed on anything!
    • When Nezu, Sekibayashi, Haruo come in for treatment, Hajime tries to get them to sign a "specimen consent form". They have no idea what a specimen is and think he's referring to a special tournament.
Kokomi: Don't let him trick you!!!
    • Ohma also comes for treatment on Kaede's insistence. And then he immediately runs out when Karura starts chasing him.
    Hajime: Tsk, he got away.
Kokomi: That's no reason to "tsk".
  • Chapter 112: Upon experiencing Agito Kanoh's aura for the first time, Okubo compares him to Zetton from Ultraman and loudly proclaims that he, the strongest human, is going to bring the final boss Agito down, just like Zetton was eventually defeated by humans as well. So how does the favorite to win the tounament, the presumebly strongest of all participants and reigning champion of the Kengan matches, respond?
Agito: This "Zetton" you speak of... Is he strong?
Okubo: Come one man... He's easily in the "top ten characters your think of when you hear the words 'final boss'" of our generation, right?"
Agito: Final Boss? What kind of martial art does this "final boss" use?
  • Chapter 158: A grumbling Kuroki repeatedly denies that he has taken Lihito as a student, even though he practically has. Lihito completely sandbags him and continues calling him "Master" anyway, and Kirimi doesn't believe Kuroki either.
  • Chapter 177: In the montage showing all the Kengan fighters, Bodyguards and the Kure Clan stomping the Guardians, Hatsumi is just running away to the frustration of the Guardians pursuing him.

Omega

  • The face Ohma makes when he hears Karura coming and seems both annoyed but resigned at the impending glomping.
  • Chapter 57: All the fighters from both Purgatory and Kengan entering the arena would be completely badass if not for Okubo wearing a Kuidaore Taro costume for some reason.
    • Okubo is upset that no one cares to talk about his costume.
  • During Lihito's fight with The Falcon, Yumigahama is trash-talking his teammate pretty heavily. Unfortunately, he makes the mistake of trying to talk back to Rolón:
Yumigahama: What's taking The Falcon so long cooking up this small-fry?
    Rolón: Shut up, Yumigahama.
Yumigahama, flabbergasted: Did you just tell me to shut up? Why don't you-
Rolón: Why don't I what, Yumigahama? Go on.
    Yumigahama immediately shuts up
  • After Julius' fight against Toa Mudo, his rival Wakatsuki offers him a high-five. The stoic, serious Julius immediately returns it with enough force to essentially produce a thunderclap.
  • The entire buildup chapter to the showdown between Misasa and Yumigahama Hikaru during the Purgatory vs Kengan Association tournament, from Misasa casually stepping on stage to taunt the guy by calling him a "bitch", but especially the rest of Hikaru's team reactions to it.
Liu: Oh dear, he's talking smack at you, Yumigahama. That's Trash Talk if I ever saw it.
Nicholas: He's calling out Hikaru by name, huh? And here I was ready for my turn, too.
Fei: What'll it be, Hikaru? I can go instead of you, if you'd like.
Hikaru: (Stomping into the ring) YOU'RE DEAD.
  • Chapter 97: When Jurota Arashiyama enters the ring, Okubo asks who wears clogs and if he's trying to cosplay earning a stare from Misasa.
  • Chapter 115: Liu calls Okubo 'baldy'
Okubo: I'M NOT BALD, YOU IDIOT!
    • Later Okubo earned another stare this time from Alisa after reprimanding Terashi for wearing a mask and fullbody suit.
    • And then Terashi starts laughing since he is a big fan of Kansai comedy, which troubles both Okubo and Alisa.
  • Fei Wangfang performs a crane stance that is shown in kung fu movies and tells Takeshi a secret; That the stance is completely useless.
  • Edward Wu going through half a dozen cigars in just a few chapters because the Kure and Wu Xing won't stop attacking him, while he keeps lighting up a new one every time he has to throw it away or duck an incoming punch. At first he himself finds it amusing, but he even starts lampshading it while lighting his sixth cigar in about that many minutes.
Edward: (In a casual tone as Raian beelines towards him) Come on man, I just lit this up.
  • Similarly, Edward lighting up a fat cigar while telling a bloodied Raian on the floor about his beef cattle preference (It's Rubia Gallega, for the record). Doubly funny that he's talking to himself via two other "Wu Hei"'s, with them discussing their Catchphrase only to be interrupted by Fabio Wu booting Raian in the head, who was still awake and looking for an opportunity to Back Stab them.
  • Xia Ji's interrogation by Mitsuyo Kureshi and Joji Narushima is played for laughs, with Kureshi getting aroused at being able to break Xia Ji's bones and pulling all kinds of faces while Joji plays it off as if it is another day in the office. It's made even funnier when Xia Ji's Smug Snake tendencies come into play, threatening both masters ineffectually while internally bricking it.
Xia Ji: AAAAAAUGH, MY ARM!!!!! YOU FUCKING BROKE IT!!!!!!!
Kureshi: Now now, keep your voice down or they'll find us.
Kureshi: (Creepily singing while lustfully sticking his tongue out) Don't you worry, I only dislocated it. When I do break it, you will know!
Joji: (Casually waving his hand behind Kureshi) I'll handle the punching and kicking.
  • Chapter 173
    • Shen and Joji meet each other and after a long staredown..... they toast their beer before drinking.
    • Komada makes a return and it turns out he's camera shy.
    • When Jerry Tyson mentions that Okubo is good friends with Lihito, Okubo tells that Lihito looks up to him as an older brother and mentor. Lihito mentally notes to beat him later.
  • Chapter 174: The falcon claims to be Kuroki's student even going as far as calling him master, he also calls the Kaiwan style a 'ninjutsu' much to Kuroki's confusion.
  • Chapter 196: During the match between Okubo and Sekibayashi, the former once again reminds the readers why he is considered one of the "four idiots".
Okubo: (After getting up from a hit that briefly knocked him unconscious) So you are just gonna stand there 'n shrug it all off? What are you, the mayor of tough guy town?
Okubo realizes what he just said
Okubo: What the hell is tough guy town?
  • Chapter 248: Desperate to find a way to defeat the Worm's leader, "The Connector" Shen Wulong, the Kengan Association asks Koga's uncle Narushima Joji to fight for them since Shen has previously stated that he wouldn't hurt his friend. The latter refuses but offers to introduce them to a person who knows how to beat him instead. The person in question? Shen Wulong.
Kimishima Mana: I hope it's not rude to ask... But is your uncle alright in the head?
