No one Escapes...Redemption? is a crossover fanfic between Hazbin Hotel and Dead by Daylight written by Raving_Madman.

After the Entity somehow "dies", the Trapper finds himself in Hell and runs into Charlie, who recruits him into her redemption project. He's not the only one from the Fog to appear, though, as more Killers show up in Hell with various aims and goals.

Currently ongoing at 38 chapters and 71,033 words. Beware of unmarked spoilers.

Tropes:

  • Adaptation Expansion: Anna's backstory is expanded on here. In addition to her Dark and Troubled Past per Dead by Daylight canon, she tells Charlie about how her mother met her father before he died from a fever he didn't recover from.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Vaggie and Charlie are best friends instead of lovers in this continuity.
  • All Animals Are Dogs: The Demogorgon behaves like an extremely affectionate dog towards the Hazbin crew and the Killers despite being an Eldritch Abomination. Max even nicknames it Snuffles!
  • Asshole Victim: Herman is so despised by many of the other Killers that when he dies, they're less concerned about the fact he's dead and more worried about how Charlie managed to emerge unscathed from his attempt on her life and kill him in the process.
  • Bad Boss: Evan tells Charlie during their conversation in the hotel that the Entity would pretty much torture the Killers if they failed to or refused to carry out its orders. In his conversation with Angel Dust at the hotel's library, Phillip states that he had his tongue ripped out of his mouth by the Entity when he initially refused to kill innocent people in the Fog.
  • Being Evil Sucks: It's heavily implied that most of the Killers (minus Herman) did not enjoy killing innocent people in the Fog to satisfy the whims of the Entity. Phillip even calls out Angel Dust for assuming he enjoyed murdering people when they talk to each other in the hotel library.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Evan hates being called a coward, which causes him to lash out at Charlie when she unintentionally implies that he served the Entity out of fear. He calms down when he realizes she never intended to mock him over his past
    • Max does not like when people treat him as a freak given how his Abusive Parents did just that before he snapped. Katie Killjoy calling him a freak on live television gets her butchered by the enraged Hillbilly for her troubles.
    • Herman Carter does not take being called insignificant well, as demonstrated when he attempts to kill Charlie after she points out how he's nothing more than another speck of dust in the grand scheme of things.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Sally is basically the Team Mom of the Fog-dwellers and one of the nicest Killers ... who's also implied to have delivered a Cruel and Unusual Death to a particularly depraved inmate at Crotus Penn Asylum known only as "The Bad Man" along with the cruel staff who abused the patients under their care.
  • Brutal Honesty: Herman can be quite candid for an Ax-Crazy Mad Doctor when he wants to, though not without cruelty as shown when he deems Charlie's dream of rehabilitating sinners in Hell 'worthless'.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Charlie, after finding out Herman's plans, points out in her "The Reason You Suck" Speech to him that demons like him are a dime a dozen for her father, Lucifer.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Angel inflicts this on Jeffery as part of his rehabilitation by forcing the clown on a diet and exercise plan to get him in shape.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: All the Killers have pretty messed-up pasts by default, what with being stuck with terrible parents, having the worst luck imaginable, or just being horrible people themselves.
  • Denser and Wackier: For the Killers, Hell is much more vibrant and chaotic compared to the eerie, dreary cold of the Fog
  • Eldritch Abomination:
    • Considering how the Demogorgon comes from the Upside Down and has a Flower Mouth that makes up the majority of its head, it's not going to be winning any awards for cutest pet in Hell anytime soon.
    • The Entity itself fits the bill, with its speech being described as "from before the stars had been wrought and mankind had stood upright".
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: The more cynical Killers are quite bemused and suspicious towards Charlie for being such a genuine Nice Girl even when it wouldn't benefit her, to the point that they initially suspect that she has to be faking it somehow given her status as the princess of Hell itself.
  • Evil Is One Big, Happy Family: Some of the Killers are hard to exactly call "evil", but in general, the Fog dwellers see each other like family due to their shared experiences of working for the Entity.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Caleb, being a mercenary from the Wild West, is mystified by Hell's modern tech, asking Charlie on how the hotel's elevators work when he first arrives at the Hazbin Hotel. Justified in that Caleb was also an inventor before being enlisted by the Entity.
  • Fluffy the Terrible: The Demogorgon, a monstrous beast from the Upside Down and formerly one of the Entity's killers, also goes by the name of Snuffles courtesy of Max.
  • Freak Out: Charlie nearly suffers a nervous breakdown from the stress of having to deal with the numerous volatile personalities in the Hazbin Hotel, which only gets worse after Jeffery arrives at the hotel. Vaggie tries to alleviate Charlie's burden by taking up hotel manager duties in her place, but immediately backs out once she experiences just how stressful the job is.
  • Gorn: Max, Herman, and Alastor practically paint the news tower with gore during their rampage there.
  • Groin Attack: Vaggie kicks Caleb in the crotch over his rude behavior towards Charlie, though to his credit, Caleb is actually impressed by the strength she packs in her kicks.
  • Hated by All: Most of the saner Fog dwellers absolutely despise the Entity for turning them into its attack dogs, as evidenced by Caleb, Philip, and Max's unhappy reactions to Charlie revealing that the Entity killed Herman when she was breifly stuck in the Fog.
  • Hate Sink: Herman quickly establishes himself as the most vile and unpleasant character in the story with his wanton cruelty and manipulative tendencies towards the other Killers and hotel staff.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Herman's attempt to kill Charlie by dragging her into the Fog backfires on him when the Entity kills him in its attempt to eject Charlie from his mind.
  • Manchild:
    • Max behaves like an overgrown little boy due to his Dark and Troubled Past at the hands of his Abusive Parents depriving him of an actual childhood. However, he can occasionally veer into Psychopathic Manchild if he's angry enough.
    • Due to her isolated upbringing in the Russian wilderness, Anna has the mindset of a little girl, most notably attempting to pet Husk like a housecat because she found him cute.
  • Mercy Kill: As Sally explains to Charlie in chapter 15, her reason as to why she killed the patients at Crotus Penn Asylum was to free them from their suffering.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Even with all the scars on his body, Evan is quite well-built and handsome.
  • Mugging the Monster:
    • The very first demon Evan interracts with tries to rob him for his mask, only to get violently butchered for his trouble.
    • A group of demon muggers attempt to accost Anna and Sally as they navigate through the slums of Pentagram City. The two Fog dwellers decimate the gang in short order, only leaving one mugger alive so they can get information on the nearest lodging options available in Hell.
  • Nickname Basis: Zigzagged; the Killers are initially referred to with their titles before they meet the Hazbin Hotel crew, later being referred to with their real names
  • Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Michael most certainly fits by virtue of intimidating most of the Hazbin Group without even needing to speak.
  • Oh, Crap!: Played for Laughs when Charlie proceeds to sing "Inside of Every Demon Is a Rainbow" after Evan asks her to tell him about herself
    Evan: Tell me about yourself
Slowly, she smiled, and she cleared her throat and stood. Was she going to SING?! What in the name of the Entity had he just requested?!
    • And another Played for Laughs instance happens when Anna and Sally show up and the former sees Alastor, with the Radio Demon barely avoiding getting a hatchet to the skull while an amused Husk points out that while Alastor's smile didn't falter, his eyes betrayed him with the "oh shit" look in them.
  • Omniglot: Charlie can speak just about any language, including extinct ones and obscure dialects, which comes in handy for talking with Anna, who doesn't speak English.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Despite being minions to the Entity, most of the Killers simply did their duties mainly so they wouldn't have to suffer its wrath. Outside of their "job", they're perfectly willing to interact with other individuals such as the Hazbin Hotel team and can even make friends with them.
  • Ship Tease: Plenty between Sally and Phillip. The same can be said for Charlie and Evan
  • The Dreaded: Caleb had this reputation not just among the living but also the residents of Hell for his ruthlessness as a bounty hunter. Even Charlie is noticeably afraid of him when she first meets him.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Apart from Alastor, everyone hates Herman Carter for his sociopathic cruelty.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • Herman tears into Charlie's idealism and her plans for redemption and dismisses them as naïve fantasy when she brings up her goals to him.
Herman: And just what makes you two qualified to review MY work? Are you two trained psychiatrists? Are you neurologists? Do either of you have any education in medicine or therapy? No. I know neither of you do, otherwise you’d already have patients, and you wouldn’t have desperate need of one such as myself! (...) Even if you did have training, it wouldn’t matter. I’ve reviewed footage of your fiasco of an interview with those news anchors: you live in a world of absolute delusion. Your expectations are so beyond unrealistic they are borderline psychotic. You think that these wretches you call ‘patients’ will be willing to change, but you’re wrong. If they are down here, then they have become so defined by their vices and failings that they will have to be forcefully corrected. They will have to suffer. They will cry, they will beg, they will scream and curse…and judging from what I’ve seen, you lack the nerve to have them see their therapy through to the end. You have far too much empathy for one who oversees a rehabilitation institution. Even now, the many-limbed nymphomaniac snorts nose-candy, and your receptionist is a raging alcoholic. How can you hope to change someone like Evan or myself, when you can’t even bring yourself to be stern with those two? You’re so sweet to everyone that it genuinely sickens me when I think of how much power and privilege is wasted on you. Had you even a hint of a spine for enforcing your own will over others, you’d have plenty of patients by now, and you wouldn’t be such an embarrassment to your parents, who are so ashamed of you that they’re willing to watch from afar as you humiliate yourself for all of Hell to see!
    • Charlie repays the favor when she confronts Herman in the hotel over his Evil Plan, noting that for all his posturing, he's nothing more than a big fish from a tiny pond who has no idea how insignificant he truly is.
Charlie: So that’s it then? Your brilliant plan was just…mind control?
Herman: Are you mocking me, Charlotte?
Charlie: And to think you called ME naïve.
Herman: Care to elaborate on that!? (hands sparking)
Charlie: (sneering at Herman) Oh, gladly~! You see, my father—you might have heard of him—Lucifer, has been ruling Hell for as long as Hell has existed! I won’t bother telling you just how long that’s been, but he’s lost track of the number of upstarts, petty tyrants, scheming politicians, and madmen like you who have tried to depose him. (stifling a yawn) At the end of the day, despite your ‘brilliance’ and your appetite for cruelty, you’re just another mundane, unimportant demon, Herman. (smiling) How does that make you feel? Do you want to talk about it?
  • The Speechless: Phillip Ojomo can't talk because the Entity tore out his tongue for daring to defy its will.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Herman Carter qualifies as this among the Killers, oh so very much. Jeffery Hawk and Caleb Quinn qualify to a lesser extent, being mostly neutral with some Jerkass moments.
  • Too Good for This Sinful Earth: During a card game with Husk, Philip, Angel, and Jeffrey, Angel notes that Charlie's probably the only person in Hell who doesn't deserve to be there for being the only one without any sins attached to her name.
  • Training from Hell: Played for Laughs when Vaggie solicits Angel Dust to put Jeffery through the ringer to help him lose some weight after Jeffery tells Vaggie about his Dark and Troubled Past.
  • Tragic Villain: A good amount of the more sympathetic Killers qualify as this, as they never asked for the Entity to make them its attack dogs nor the horrific situations that drove them into madness in the first place.
  • Villain Has a Point: As cruel as Herman's "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Charlie is, he's not wrong about how most of Hell's denizens would refuse to give up their vices for redemption without the application of force to keep them in line.
  • Violence Is Disturbing: Charlie and Vaggie are visibly sickened when they see the gory results of Max, Herman, and Alastor's bloody rampage at the 666 News Tower.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: As Evan recounts to Charlie, he used to hate being under the thumb of his monstrous father, Archie, before the abuse Archie put him through (which included Archie murdering Evan's uncle and mother and bribing Evan's friends into betraying him on top of the constant beatings he subject his son to) warped Evan into his loyal enforcer. After that, he then tried to appease Archie through whatever methods he could use, even if it meant doing some truly horrific things to other people.
