The Titan Wills and YMIR
In General
Nine entities that came into existence when Ymir gained the Power of the Titans. They were shaped by her primal desires and fear of death before being given forms of their own. Since Ymir’s death they have been bouncing from host to host.
- And I Must Scream: Up until the battle of Mitras the Titan Wills could not talk to or control their hosts, only make subconscious suggestions (which could still be ignored) and talk to them in their dreams (which are forgotten after).
- This changes after the Battle of Mitras where the wills can talk to their hosts and even take control of their bodies if needed. Though the other wills are content to let their hosts actions be their own, the Warhammer jumps at the chance to completely control Laura Tybur, putting her in this position.
- Been There, Shaped History: They have been around for 2,000 years. Hopping from host to host during Eldia’s reign. Giving them power and influencing their actions subconsciously. To this day there are many cults inspired by them and their actions through their hosts have shaped civilization.
- Big, Screwed-Up Family: They refer to each other as siblings (though the Founder goes by Father) and consider YMIR their mother. But they all have issues with atleast one of the other and a long history of grudges and disagreements. The Attack Titan is considered an outcast, he and Armor have a rivalry, Beast is greatly disliked for his cruelty, Cart is an outcast for their nihilism, and they consider the Founder a neglectful parent. Also, the wills besides Attack all left Ymir in the Paths assuming she was fine with her “job” only to realize she wasn’t.
- Eldritch Abomination: They are entities created from the fears and primal desires of a scared slave girl and cannot interact with the physical world unless they are in control of hosts. Not to mention they manifest giant Titan bodies for themselves of unique shapes from Path energy.
- Everyone Has Standards: They (with the exception of the Warhammer) refuse to take control of their hosts even when they don’t agree with them and are willing to let their actions be their own.
- Gender Bender: They identify themselves with the same gender as their host, referring to each other as brother/sister at different times in their lives. The only exception is the Female Titan, who also only ever chooses female hosts, due to representing Ymir’s identity as a woman.
- Jerkass Realization: Armor, Colossal, Female and Jaw all feel bad for unintentionally neglecting YMIR when Attack calls them out on it.
- Like a Son to Me: They consider the children of their hosts their own as well and take offense to the Vow of Renouncing war stating they have never known the feeling of being parents. The Female Titan boasts that she sired many daughters through her shifters (which then became her hosts) and the Attack Titan has some fatherly affection for Eren. The Armored and Female Titans have also taken parental roles towards Reiner and Annie respectively. Beast fakes some of this to manipulate Zeke.
- Who Wants to Live Forever?: They are all basically tired of living at this point.
The Founder/Founding Titan
- The Dreaded: By the world due to its power over Eldians and capability to cause the Rumbling.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: He allows the Titan wills to speak to their hosts since they may be their last ones and trusting they will keep respectable boundaries to keep their minds from becoming vegetables.
- Top God: He’s the “father” of the other wills and their highest authority apart from their “mother” YMIR.
The Attack Titan
The embodiment of YMIR’s rage. The Attack Titan has always sought freedom and fought against tyrant. Through his current host Eren he seeks to cause the Rumbling to express YMIRS suffering for the last 2,000 years so she can move on from the Paths. He is known as the Chaosbringer, Bloody-Hand and the Devil of All Earth.
- Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: He’s the only Titan Will who was aware of YMIR’s suffering and everything he does is so she can be freed if the paths one day.
- So Proud of You: Unlike Grisha who was quite horrified, the Attack Titan is proud that Eren killed two kidnappers to save Mikasa when he was eight.
The Armored Titan
The Colossal Titan
The embodiment of YMIRS shock and awe. Despite the destructive potential of his power, he prefers studying astronomy. He is also known as the stargazer.
- All-Powerful Bystander: He was the most vocal against the Founder allowing their hosts to speak with them since he fears the impact on their hosts psyche. Though he doesn’t necessarily approve of Bertolt actions he doesn’t try to change his opinions or stop him aside from offering him advice on being decisive.
- The Stoic: He’s imposing and formal.
- Worthy Opponent: Though he has nothing against Armin personally, Armin is this to him by proxy of Bertholdt rivalry with him. He compliments Armin when he thinks to use a sword with a crystal end to redirect Bertholdt lightning back at them.

The Warhammer Titan
- The Sociopath: While she does have a degree of affection for the Tyburs they are more of pets to her if anything. Her idea of fixing things is to take control of the situation entirely.
The Cart Titan
The embodiment of YMIR’s slave mentality, endurance and submission. She is the only Titan Will who openly awaits for their end.
- Straw Nihilist: Due to representing YMIR’s slave mentality, Cart is very morose and finds existence itself painful. She’s the only Titan will who actually welcomes death.
The Beast Titan
YMIR Fritz
The first person to inherit the Power of the Titans, the ancestor of most modern Eldians, and the “mother” of the Nine. A slave girl for King Fritz who helped form the Eldian empire. After her death her soul was condemned to the Paths where she spent the last 2,000 years building Titan bodies and answering requests from her “children”.
- Adaptational Personality Change: This version of Ymir was never IN LOVE with King Fritz. She was simply compelled to make Titans in the paths due to her slave conditioning and she’s eager for Eren and the Attack Titan to start the Rumbling to express her rage so she can move on.
- Those Two Guys: She’s friends with a future version of Eren who initiated the Rumbling, watching the story (a different version of their past) with amusement.
The Ackerman Guardian
Vow of Renouncing War
An artificial will created by Karl Fritz and the Warhammer Titan which has taken control of the Founder. Like Fritz, he believes that the Eldian people deserve to be wiped out and the world will be better off without them or Titans, this he controls every member of royal blood that inherits him so they won’t do anything when Marley attacks.
- Brain Uploading: He is basically a mental copy of Karl Fritz bound to the Founder.
- The Ghost: He is referred to as the ghost of Karl Fritz.
- Mistaken Identity: When he possesses Rod Reiss after he ingests Titan serum their misshapen Titan form is mistaken by the humans as the Founding Titan.
- Not Quite the Right Thing: He thinks he’s going the right thing by letting Marley exterminate the walls and that “he” did the right thing helping Marley overthrow Eldia. He seems unaware of how Marley’s basically become the new Eldia.
- Straw Nihilist: He thinks the world would be better off if Eldians never existed and his purpose is to ensure that they are wiped out someday, believing it is what the modern Eldians deserve for their ancestors sins and not even that can atone for them.
The New Warriors
Eren Jeager
- Everyone Has Standards: Eren approved of his father leading the Eldian restorationists while visiting his father’s memories, but was horrified and disgusted by his treatment of Zeke.
- Like Father, Like Son: He shares the same rebellious spirit of his father in his younger years. He also takes after the Attack Titan a lot and can be considered his son as well by virtue of Grisha being the Attack Titans host when he fathered Eren.
- Poor Communication Kills: He resents his father because he thinks he failed to get the Founder resulting in everything that’s happened since. Including the sacrifice of hundreds of refugees and the battle of Mitras. He doesn’t know that Grisha was actually successful or about the Vow of Renouncing War.
- Relationship Upgrade: He discovered his feelings for Mikasa after she kisses him before the battle of Trost.
- Sympathy for the Devil: Though Eren still has some negative feelings towards Zeke for changing Raganko into Titans, he makes an effort to talk to his half-brother after seeing his childhood through his fathers memories.
- Took a Level in Kindness: After becoming Mikasa’s boyfriend, he stops taking her for granted and compliments her on her superior skill (while in canon he was jealous for a long time), making an effort to be a better boyfriend.
Mikasa Ackerman
- Action Girl: It’s Mikasa, of course.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Pieck encourages her to play this up so she can avoid the lineage lottery.
- Not So Stoic: She breaks down in tears upon discovering Eren is alive…then again after learning he only has nine years left to live.
Armin Arlert
- Amazon Chaser: He is inlove with Annie.
- Badass Bookworm: He’s a genius, a capable fighter, and he even na ages to take down Bertolt after he unlocks lightning abilities.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Armin is a seeetheart, but also a cold strategist and a capable soldier when needed.
- Covert Pervert: Annie notices him taking detailed notes during Keith Shadis’ sex Ed classes. He also knew his way around her body despite being a virgin thanks to accidentally reading an erotic book when he was a child.
- Cowardly Lion: He’s meek and quick to show fear but is willing to fight to protect the people he cares about and risk his life to do what’s right.
- Eye Scream: He looses an eye during the battle of Mitras.
- The Pollyanna: He is optimistic and looks on the bright side of things. This is what made Annie fall for him in the first place.
Reiner Braun
- Adaptational Agnst Upgrade: Inverted. Here he never gets around to killing Marco and the Armored Titan keeps him from developing a split personality due to his guilt. He still carries a lot of it & many issues but he’s more mentally stable than his canon counterpart.
- I Hate Past Me: He hates his childhood self for his naivety and eagerness to kill all the Paradisians, almost as much as he hates himself for breaking down the walls.
- My Greatest Failure: He blames himself for Marcel’s death.
- You Are Better Than You Think You Are: The Armored Titan assures Reiner that despite his mistakes he is not the worst host he has ever had and reinforces that he has noble traits.
Bertolt Hoover
- Crazy Jealous Guy: He wants to kill Armin, half to keep Annie from becoming a traitor for her own safety, half because he hates the fact that she chose Armin (a “Devil”) over him. It crosses into Ungrateful Bastard territory considering Armin saved his life a few times.
- Fantastic Racism: Unlike Reiner, he continues to hold onto the Marleyan propaganda of the Paradisians being Devils. However this is more because thinking like that is how he was raised than anything else. He even admits that despite a part of him wanting to kill Eren and Armin he also feels sorry for them.
- He is also distrustful of the Titan wills due to them being remnants of the Eldian empire and refers to them as “Devil Things” and “Eldian Abominations”.
- My Master, Right or Wrong: He knows Marley doesn’t care about him and will eventually kill all Eldians, Paradis or otherwise. He’s just too immersed in the propaganda he was brought up with to turn traitor. Subverted as to where he states he knows Marley will fall too, he just doesn’t care since he will be dead by then anyways.
Annie Leonhart
- Bash Brothers: With Mikasa.
- The Cynic: She tends to look at things negatively. In fact she loves Armin partly for his optimism.
- Love Redeems: She develops romantic feelings for Armin which encourages her to rescue him during Eren’s trial, causing the first major deviation in this story.

- Sycophantic Servant: They are completely immersed in Marleyan propaganda (to Eren’s disgust) to the point of worshipping the Marleyans, demeaning themselves, and wishing for the extermination of the “Island Devils”.
