The Player Characters

     Emem Louis
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vampire_the_masquerade_swansong_emem.jpg
Voiced by: Blessed Niayemi

A bold Toreador performance artist with Anarch sympathies. She is the former lover of the Toreador Primogen.

  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Emem Louis holds Leysha in contempt and thinks of her visions as just hallucinations. You know, despite being a vampire and knowing the Tremere practice magic.
  • The Beautiful Elite: She is one of the Toreador and a beautiful woman who dwells among the highest and loveliest of society.
  • Blue Blood: As a Toreador, she is a member of the High Clans. She is also the childe of a Primogen member.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: Her breakup with Hilda resulted in her becoming disillusioned with the concept of permanent romantic relationships or marriage.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The forcible blood bonding of Emem is treated like a sexual assault by the game.
  • Family-Friendly Stripper: Despite being Embraced for her burlesque, it is only mentioned in her Codex entry.
  • I Hate You, Vampire Dad: Her love with her sire, Hilda, has long since turned to disgust.
  • Hooker with a Heart of Gold: A former sex worker. Has much more loyalty and worry about her loved ones than the other PCs.
  • Lesbian Vampire: All of her major relationships are with women with Hilda being her lover for sixty years and her current closest relationship being with Journey.
  • Male Gaze: The camera seems to focus on her derriere when she walks.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Should she survive the ordeal with duping the Anarchs for Iversen and the one-woman infiltration mission, Emem can choose to leave the Camarilla in disgust, not caring that she'll be hunted down for the insult.
  • Ms. Fanservice: A spectacularly beautiful black woman who wears incredibly flattering outfits.
  • Rape as Drama: Emem's relationship with Hilda fell apart when she suffered a forcible blood bonding that the Primogen told Emem to keep quiet about.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: May decide to leave the Camarilla due to the manipulations of the court. This despite the fact it can result in a Blood Hunt.
  • Vampires Are Rich: Has three successful clubs but is nowhere as wealthy as some Kindred in Boston.
  • Vampires Own Nightclubs: She owns three night clubs in the Modern Nights.

     Galeb Bazory
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galeb_7.jpg
Voiced by: Graham Powell

A 300 year old Ventrue that is the oldest Kindred in Boston but serving as Scourge instead of Primogen.

  • Anti-Hero: By far the most ruthless of the protagonists and perfectly willing to kill police or other people who stand in his way.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Is the toughest of the three characters but also dresses in an impeccable suit.
  • Blue Blood: A member of Clan Ventrue as well as an Elder in his own right.
  • But Now I Must Go: If he survives, he will answer the call of the Beckoning at the end of the game, unable to resist any longer.
  • Death by Disfigurement: One possible ending for Galeb post-torture. Should he fail to break Stanford's willpower in their last encounter, he will be smote by True Faith on the spot.
  • Disappointed in You: Dislikes his childer, Berel Underwood, for only caring about money and power. This is notably uncommon as an attitude among Clan Ventrue who would consider Berel an exceptional success story.
  • The Dragon: Serves as the Scourge of Boston, which is different from the Sheriff and closer to court executioner.
  • Honor Before Reason: One of the few vampires who treats the Camarilla and Prince as worthy of putting obedience over personal ambition. Other vampires hold this attitude in contempt.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: His criticisms of Berel seem somewhat unfair but Kindred trade in favors rather than money so his childer's obsession with wealth is actually an embarrassment.
  • Offered the Crown: Was actually offered the Princedom of Boston but refused it according to Boston by Night. He called it a poisoned gift, which even Berel admits is true.
  • Overrated and Underleveled: Despite being 300 years old, Galeb is not noticeably stronger than Emem or Leysha despite both being only a third his age. This may be related to the fact he's only 10th generation, which is very weak for a Kindred his age.
  • Prince Charming: Is actually the son of the Ottoman Sultan, Ahmed III, but fled his father's court while alive.
  • Scars Are Forever: Midway through the game, Galeb is captured by the Society of Leopold and is brutally tortured by Monsignor Stanford. He eventually breaks out when the Beast takes over, but not before his entire right arm, the right side of his face is scorched almost to the bone and he's rendered blind in one eye. However, Vampire: The Masquerade lore means he will heal eventually; he just needs time and blood. Galeb himself hints at this when he can downplay his injuries to Feng, stating that vampire bodies are different.
  • Romantic Vampire Boy: An older example than most but is in a romance with Xu Feng, a human woman.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Galeb is always dressed in extremely fine suits and showing the taste that comes with being a respected elder of the Camarilla court.
  • The Stoic: Is significantly more reserved and controlled than the other protagonists as well as the court as a whole.
  • Undying Loyalty: Galeb has a samurai/knight-esque loyalty to the Camarilla that causes him to chastise anyone who doesn't show sufficient respect to the Prince or the institution.

     Leysha
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vampire_the_masquerade_swansong_06_13_21.jpg
Voiced by: Inka Malovic

A Malkavian prophet recently released from imprisonment in a nearby asylum.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Leysha often peppers her speech with "Pumpkin" and "Sugar-Fangs" when talking to her daughter.
  • Amnesiac Hero: Leysha doesn't remember large chunks of her past and her sire manipulated her memories as well.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Wears a very nice suit while also using her stealth to fight werewolves.
  • Bifauxnen: Leysha dresses in men's clothing and maintains a androgynous look but is still quite pretty.
  • The Cassandra: Mostly averted. She can see the future but some of the court just believe she's crazy like Emem.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: A mild example as she's been locked up for three years and a lot has happened in the political situation.
  • Good Parents: Leysha is always warm and kind to her daughter, supporting her despite their vampiric nature.
  • Mad Oracle: Leysha's importance to the court of Boston comes from her prophetic visions.
  • Master of Disguise: Leysha is extremely good at copying the costumes of others in order to fit in.
  • Mercy Kill: Leysha can eventually give one of these to Quentin King III.
  • Nice Girl: Leysha is one of the most polite and pleasant characters in the game, especially in scenes involving her daughter.
  • Significant Anagram: Leysha is an anagram of her daughter's name, Halsey. Turns out they're both fake names they were given as part of Richard's efforts to cover up the true circumstances of their Embrace.

Kindred

     Hazel Iverson
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/iversen.jpg

The recently risen Prince of Boston. She overthrew the previous one and is still solidifying her powerbase.

  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: Hazel is fond of these as while she asks first, it's made very clear no one can refuse her.
  • Blue Blood: As with most Princes, she is a member of House Ventrue but is noticeably higher generation than most (10th).
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Subjected Quentin King III to this for years for no reason other than spite.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Was a financier in life and carried on the trade after death.
  • The Good King: Argues a lot of sensible policies and reinforcement of the Camarilla's position in Boston.
  • Manipulative Bastard: She has Emem ask the Anarchs for help with the Second Inquisition and openly says to say they'll reinforce them without any intention of doing so.
  • Puppet King: Averted. Hazel was supposed to be this but has proven intractable to the Primogen that put her in power.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Hazel presents herself as this and is friendly to all three of the protagonists. At least at first.
  • She Is the King: Still is referred to as the Prince of Boston, which is common in Kindred circles.
  • The Usurper: It's more or less an Open Secret that she had Quentin King III murdered to take his position. She did much worse.
  • Visionary Villain: Has the ambition to unify all of New England under her reign.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Hazel is only a 10th generation vampire and was only Embraced in 1941. Which barely makes her an Ancilla. She is a canny political operator and manipulator, however.

     Berel Underwood
A Ventrue banker and money man. The childer of Galeb.

  • Blue Blood: As a member of Clan Ventrue, he is a well-established lineage of kings. He's 11th generation, though, and very weak for a Primogen.
  • Greed: Berel cares only for his wealth and increasing it. His work with other Kindred is only a means to further this goal.
  • I Hate You, Vampire Dad: Is remarkably insecure about the fact that his sire holds him in contempt.
  • Only in It for the Money: His obsession with wealth as his only motivation actually offended his sire to the point of being disowned.
  • Soulless Bedroom: A substantial amount of insight into Berel's personality can be gained by the fact that his bedroom consists of a rack of identical suits, a overlarge television set, and the bed.

     Hilda MacAndrews
A Toreador painter and former Suffragist. She is a powerful member of the Primogen.

  • All Love Is Unrequited: Emem's love for her has long since withered and Hilda can't accept it.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: One of the rare cases of such in vampire fiction.
  • Death Seeker: Is one of the rare Kindred who keeps a will and leaves everything to her childe that hates her. Galeb notes this speaks volumes.
  • I Love You, Vampire Son: Hilda is in love with Emem despite their relationship having long since fallen apart.
  • Karmic Death: It's possible for Emem, the childe she abused, to kill Hilda if she knows that the latter betrayed the Camarilla to the SI, either indirectly by reporting it to the Prince (which will almost certainly result in her execution) or if Emem confronts Hilda about it, leading to the two getting into a physical fight that can end with Emem killing her sire personally.
  • Lesbian Vampire: Hilda shows no interest in men and has had multiple relationships with women.
  • The Mole: Hilda is the SI's mole in Kindred society and the reason that the majority of Boston's Kindred population has been destroyed.

     Dajan
The Tremere Primogen of Boston. He is the one who negotiated the treaty with Hartford.

  • Admiring the Abomination: Is fascinated by Richard Dunham's blood research.
  • Authority in Name Only: Despite being the Tremere Primogen, there are no Tremere in the city of Boston other than himself. He, however, was the one to negotiate with the Hartford chantry.
  • Blood Magic: Dajan is a practitioner of this as a Tremere warlock. This includes the sacrifice of small animals.
  • Hollywood Voodoo: Dajan was born in New Orleans and his sorcery is heavily influenced by it.
  • Revenge: He worked with Hazel Iverson against Quentin King III because the latter sentenced his sire to final death and forced her from New England.
  • The Rival: Both he and Deneb realize that Boston has room for only one Tremere leader.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Is already planning to abandon Boston for Salem at the time of the Unification party. The merger with Hartford dramatically reduces his importance to the Prince.

     Delsin Coates
The Sheriff of Boston and Prince Iverson's chief enforcer.

  • The Brute: Delsin spends most of his time sitting behind the Prince and looking menacing.
  • The Dragon: Alongside Galeb, he is the primary enforcer of Prince Iverson.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: Everything the player characters do in this game would normally fall under his job.

     Richard Dunham
A Malkavian doctor and psychologist.

  • Blatant Lies: Richard claims to be the child of William Bitmore (i.e. one of the most powerful Kindred in New England) but is only 10th generation. William Bitmore, by contrast, was 6th.
  • Control Freak: Richard wants to dominate Leysha's life in all respects and has done a decent job for the past century.
  • Gaslighting: Constantly engages in this with Leysha, attempting to convince her she must rely on him in all things.
  • Hookers and Blow: His behavior at the Unification Party indicates that this is his MO when he's not engaged in mad science.
  • Mad Scientist: Is engaged in a large number of highly unethical blood experiments with Kindred and Kine. While he can temporary raise Leysha's Obfuscate score, it is indicated they are not worth the money expended on them.
  • Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: Richard is a Kindred psychologist who locks away his patients, feeds on them, and experiments on them.
  • Skewed Priorities: When Leysha pulls the stake out of his heart, he's more concerned about the fact that the Prince has let her out of her cell.
  • White-Collar Crime: Has been embezzling from his tithe to the Prince to fund his research and decadent lifestyle.

     Quentin King III
The former Prince of Boston and a Malkavian. He was overthrown by Hazel Iverwood.

  • The Caligula: Quentin King III was a Prince who ruled unjustly, let his followers get away with anything, and was ultimately overthrown by Hazel Iverwood.
  • Fate Worse than Death: He was kept by Hazel after his death for constant neverending torture.
  • Miscarriage of Justice: Hilda was branded by Quentin King for the actions of Emem after the latter killed her assailant.

     Deneb Osborne
The Regent of the Hartford Chantry.

  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: Emem knows she's negotiating from a very poor position when Deneb attempts to extort Domain or a Primogenship from her in Iverson's stead.
  • Blood Magic: Is capable of doing such as a Tremere warlock.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Is charming and pleasant to Emem but tortures people for their blood while also mocking her about any lost memories they might have.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: This is his specialty as a Tremere warlock, using it to keep his prisoners in line.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Is willing to overlook the suspicious nature of the party massacre in exchange for territory in Boston.
  • The Rival: Has very little respect for Dajan and is already gunning for the man's job. Dajan returns the sentiment.

Mortals

     Xu Feng
A human woman preparing to be Embraced by Galeb.

     Jason Moore
The human accountant of the Boston Kindred.

  • Bodyguard Betrayal: Inverted. He betrays his own bodyguards in hopes of getting away from the Boston Camarilla.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Jason Moore makes all of his money from high powered business dealings with the city's elite. This includes the Kindred and their blatantly illegal enterprises.
  • I Have Your Wife: An unknown force, The Second Inquisition has murdered Jason Moore's wife and kidnapped his daughter in exchange for all of the information that he has on his Kindred clients.

     Monsignor Stanford
A major figure in the Society of Leopold.

  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Engages in this with Galeb as a means to extract information from him.
  • Holy Burns Evil: As a man possessing True Faith, he is capable of doing this to the Kindred.
  • Knight Templar: Stanford is someone who believes any and all methods are justified in the destruction of the undead.
  • No-Sell: Stanford's powers include the ability to see through Kindred illusions as Leysha can potentially find out.
  • Torture Always Works: Sadly, you must pass various checks to avoid spilling valuable information to him.
  • Van Helsing Hate Crimes: Stanford tortures Galeb with True Faith in hopes of convincing him that he is a monster who deserves to be punished.
  • Villainous Breakdown: If he fails to kill Galeb with his True Faith in their final confrontation, he'll react with disbelief and ask God why He has abandoned him as Galeb drains him dry.
