Characters / Transformers: MHA - G.I. Joe

Go To

G.I. Joe

A secret global special mission force made up of highly trained individuals from all subdivisions of the military, collectively known as G.I. Joe. Their purpose is to defend human freedom against villains hidden deep within the shadows that are national security level threats, such as the terrorist groups Cobra and V.E.N.O.M.

     In General
  • Adaptational Badass: All characters from the team are Badass Normals in their canon series. Since the story is taking place in the setting of MHA, most members of G.I. Joe have their own respective Quirks that they use to fight villains that threaten the peace of the world.
  • Battle Cry: "YOOOO JOOOOOEEE!"
  • Big Good: They are an international organization dedicated to protecting the fragile peace of the world from national security-level threats.
  • Code Name: Each and every member has their own that they're identified with.
  • Secret-Keeper: They eventually come to know of the Cybertronian war between the Autobots and Decepticons.
  • Walking Spoiler: Their existence is a big reveal for the second story arc.

    Snake Eyes

??? — Snake Eyes

Quirk: Quirkless

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/se_013_cover_b_se_coloured_2_small.jpg

An unknown Hero who for some reason refuses to divulge anything about himself. He watches the Sports Festival and every few years tries to recruit someone to intern with him, but none have chosen so far due to knowing very little about him.

  • Badass Normal: Tiger Claw confirms he's Quirkless, so everything he's capable of is due to his training and meditation techniques.
  • Blade Enthusiast: Snake Eyes carries multiple blades around his person.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Upon his introduction, Snake Eyes has shown feats that go beyond what the average human is capable of, showing that he's gone through some extensive training.
  • The Comically Serious: Due to his inability to speak and his attire, it's easy for Snake Eyes to look completely serious even in a casual moment like offering a bento to Kyouka.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Of course, being dressed from head to toe in black and being a ninja who can blend in with the shadows with ease, but he's a hero and Kyoka can't help but think he's also cool-looking.
  • Easily Forgiven: He holds nothing against Kyoka for attempting to spy on him and takes equal responsibility for the misunderstanding between them.
  • Flash Step: He can move faster than anyone can blink. This was how he could stop Tiger Claw from attacking Optimus Prime while he was in his alt mode.
  • The Ghost: He's a Hero no one has ever heard of. There are no records of his history, where he came from, or what his real name is. Many Heroes ran investigations to find out who he is, all of them ending with zero results. Only very few people like Nezu and Edgeshot are aware of his true nature.
  • Good All Along: Only from the perspective of the U.A. students and the other heroes, who were suspicious of him and his agency due to his secrecy, when in fact he's a hero with benevolent intentions.
  • Hidden Depths: He makes excellent bento boxes as a hobby, since there's not much to do at his base when not in a mission or training.
  • Ki Manipulation: Despite not having a Quirk of his own, Snake Eyes is capable of this to a degree through the use of a meditation technique that lets him channel his chi to enhance the strength of his strikes.
  • Not So Above It All: Despite the seriousness of the situation, even he looked sheepish when questioned about his secrecy regarding his internship with Kyoka.
  • One-Man Army: He is able to easily dodge and slice through an army of Vehicons without breaking a sweat. Made even more impressive as all this is without the use of a Quirk.
  • One-Way Visor: Snake Eyes wears a cool-looking white visor to cover his eyes.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: He only goes by his hero name as he refuses to give his real one.
  • So Proud of You: At the end of her internship, Snake Eyes lets Kyoka know that she was a wonderful student which caused the punk rocker to burst into tears of joy.
  • Super-Strength: He tore Kyoka's school blazer with a wooden sword. And that's pure training since he's Quirkless.
  • Unseen No More: After being teased, mentioned, and talked about a lot; Snake Eyes finally makes his appearance at the end of Chapter 49.
  • Un-Sorcerer: Snake Eyes is a part of the minority population of his world that doesn't have a Quirk. Still doesn't stop him from kicking Decepticon ass though.
  • Utility Belt: He wears a black one with multiple pouches.
  • The Voiceless: Snake Eyes is unable to speak due to a massive scar on his trachea given to him by an old adversary.

    Jinx

Kimi Arashikage — Jinx

Quirk: Probability Manipulation

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jinx_movie.jpeg
A member of the Snake Eyes Hero Agency.
  • Blindfolded Vision: She has trained for so many years with her eyes blindfolded she can effortlessly deflect an attempted surprise attack from Kyouka.
  • Easily Forgiven: She holds no ill will towards Kyoka for attempting to spy on her team and forgives her while admitting that mistakes were made on both sides.
  • Good Is Not Soft: As Kyoka and Kenzie have learned, Jinx doesn't know the meaning of holding back during training sessions, especially against the newbies.
  • Happily Married: She's married to Budo.
  • The Jinx: True to her codename, she can manipulate probability so that unfortunate minor things happen to her targets, as Shadow Striker finds out.
  • Ninja: She's a kunoichi who serves under Snake Eyes.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: She keeps her real name close to her heart and instead goes by her hero name, Jinx.
  • Red Is Heroic: Her kunoichi garb is red in color as well as black and she fights on the side of good.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Inverted. Her kunoichi outfit may be red and black but she's a pretty friendly hero.
  • Related Differently in the Adaptation: In most adaptations Jinx and Storm Shadow are cousins, but here she explicitly refers to him as her brother.
  • Shipper on Deck: She teases Kyoka about her crush on Izuku, much to the latter's embarrassment.
  • Translator Buddy: Due to Snake Eyes' inability to speak, Jinx serves as a translator to interpret what he's trying to communicate to others.

    Tiger Claw

A member of the Snake Eyes Hero Agency.

    Budo

A member of the Snake Eyes Hero Agency.
  • But Not Too Foreign: He's part Japanese and part Caucasian.
  • Happily Married: He's married to Jinx.
  • Necessary Drawback: His Quirk is quite powerful, but there's a limit to how much energy he can store within his body and he needs a full day to recharge it.
  • Samurai: Unlike the rest of the agency who are ninjas, he's a samurai through and through.
  • Sword Beam: His Quirk allows to accumulate energy within his body that he can transmit to any bladed weapon he holds and release it as a beam that can cleave almost anything in its path.

Sean Collins — Kamakura

Quirk: Lightning Bug

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kamakura_rah.png

  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: His Quirk allows him to turn into an 8 foot tall insect-like monster that can even match a Cybertronian.
  • Double Take: Has this reaction when he finds out that the Autobots are not with Cobra but are aliens from another planet.
Kamakura: Yeah, see? They're-wait, WHAT?! You're aliens?!
  • If I Had a Nickel...: Says this when Starscream calls him a 'freak of nature'.
  • McNinja: He's Caucasian but is also a ninja.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: His Bug form is described as having the horns of a stag beetle, the legs of a grasshopper and the forelimbs of a mantis.
  • Shock and Awe: In his Lightning Bug form he can shoot and even control electricity that's strong enough to short-circuit a Cybertronian.

    Quick Kick

Mackenzie Ito — Quick Kick

Quirk: Quick Kick

A member of the Snake Eyes Hero Agency.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Her close friends call her "Kenzie" for short.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: She's the youngest out of all the Joes in Snake Eyes' Hero Agency, being only 18.
  • Big Eater: It's heavily implied she's this due to how loud her stomach rumbles.
  • Disappeared Dad: Her father died nearly three years prior, sacrificing himself to stop a Cobra weather control device.
  • Hurricane Kick: Her Quirk, Quick Kick, lets her deliver multiple rapid kicks with just one leg.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite her brashness, Kenzie means well as she and Kyoka got along well once Kenzie explained her issues with the punk rock student.
  • Kick Chick: She inherited her father's Quirk and Code Name.
  • Legacy Character: She took on her deceased father's code name and became the second Quick Kick.

American Branch

    Duke

Conrad Hauser — Duke

Quirk: Wolf Ears

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a763436c5b38585991f2c9c9a71f64a1.jpg

First Lieutenant Duke is a highly respected field commander of G.I. Joe's American Branch.

  • Always Second Best: Duke mentions that while his Quirk may be good at sensing disturbances and hearing sounds, it's still inferior compared to Kyoka's Earphone Jack, which has the added benefit of letting her produce sonic attacks.
  • Friendly Rivalry: He and Snake Eyes have friendly sparring competitions whenever they get the chance to meet outside of battling Cobra.
  • Little Bit Beastly: His Quirk, Wolf Ears, is a mutation that gives him the ears of a wolf, allowing him to pick up even the faintest of sounds.
  • Sensor Character: The type of abilities his Quirk grants him makes him this.

    Hawk

Clayton Abernathy — Hawk

Quirk: Bird's Eye

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3496de384d3a4444e45f0ee0328529f7.jpg
The General in charge of the whole organization of G.I. Joe.
  • The Leader: He's the one of the highest ranking members of G.I. Joe and is the one who gives orders which people follow without hesitation.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He's a pretty understanding person who also doesn't hesitate to go full-blown Drill Sergeant Nasty with unruly soldiers, as Sideswipe and Strongarm find out.
  • Super-Senses: His Quirk, Bird's Eye, gives him the ability to transform his eyes into that of a bird. This allows him to see far off objects and targets that no other human would be able to see.

    Flint

Dashiell Faireborn — Flint

Quirk: N/A

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/123f8703df3830b0be137e11b65816e2.jpg
A member of G.I. Joe and the estranged father of Marissa Faireborn.
  • Disappeared Dad: That he refuses to be in contact with Marissa despite having many chances since meeting again is why she refuses to forgive him until he actually talks to her face-to-face.
  • The Ghost: He's only been mentioned so far and Marissa mentions she hasn't seen him herself in years.

    Shipwreck

Hector Delgado — Shipwreck

Quirk: Unnamed amphibious Quirk

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wp7990588.png

A rambunctious member of G.I. Joe's American Branch.

  • Captain Crash: There's a reason his codename is Shipwreck. He might be a genuinely skilled captain and sailor, but he's prone to crashing or beaching whatever boat he's driving.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: He's Latin American and is prone to adding Spanish to his sentences.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Upon noticing the Autobots in their alt modes with Snake Eyes and the Joes, he assumed them to be Cobra and attempted to attack them. Luckily, Snake Eyes managed to stop him before any damage can be done and finds out that the Autobots are friends, not foes.
  • Nice Guy: He's a pretty nice person, offering Kyoka some hot chocolate and his jacket, and gets genuinely worried about her when he finds the walkie-talkie he gave her on the island grounds.
  • Oh, Crap!: Shipwreck gets this reaction when he sees Kyoka has left the walkie-talkie he gave her on his ship.

    Wild Bill

William Hardy — Wild Bill

Quirk: Copter Cruiser

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e482bb4bc8f71ca39414f37d92aef986_0.jpg
Chief Warrant Officer and expert helicopter pilot.
  • Ace Pilot: His Quirk, Copter Cruiser, allows him to almost instantly deduce the ins and outs of any helicopter and similar vehicles just by touching the controls, making him this by default.
  • Cool Shades: His signature aviator glasses.
  • Large Ham: His first dialogue in the story is loudly declaring he made another successful landing.
  • One-Steve Limit: He has the same first name as Bill Fowler and Fowler himself is there when he's introduced.

    Scarlett

Shana O'Hara — Scarlett

Quirk: Crossbow

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scarlett_infiltration_by_spidermanfan2099_on_deviantart.jpeg
Second lieutenant and the resident crack shot of the main Joe team.
  • Arm Cannon: Her Quirk transforms her arm into a crossbow.
  • Always Someone Better: While they both competed with each other multiple times, it was only during their last confrontation where Scarlett proved herself to be a better shot than Lady Nagant.
  • Friendly Rivalry: She used to have this with Lady Nagant, until the latter went rogue.
  • Master Archer: Her Quirk, Crossbow, lets her transform her arm into a literal crossbow for her to fire arrows with.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: The students note how her Quirk is similar to Lady Nagant's, something which she acknowledges.
  • Shipper on Deck: Like everyone else, she too can see that Kyoka has the hots for Izuku.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: She has long red hair tied in a ponytail and has green eyes.

    Roadblock

Marvin Hinton — Roadblock

Quirk: Road Monster

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gi_joe_roadblock_and_lady_j.jpeg
Sergeant First Class and experienced gunner and chef.
  • Afraid of Their Own Strength: He doesn't like using his Quirk outside the battlefield due to its destructiveness and the fact that the longer he stays in his rock golem form he loses the ability of rational thinking.
  • Chef of Iron: He's both a machine gunner and a professional chef.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: In his Road Monster form, Roadblock gains the ability to manipulate certain materials and types of rock to a degree.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Seems to have formed this with Mirko.
  • Gentle Giant: Easily the tallest and most muscular Joe seen so far, but is a pretty friendly guy when not in combat.
  • Heroic Build: Described as having a physique and height comparable to that of All Might's muscular form. Even Mirko is impressed by it.
  • Hidden Depths: He apparently has played college football before.
  • My Suit Is Also Super: His uniform doesn't tear once he goes gigantic, showing that it was specially made to handle his Quirk.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: Not as bad as the cartoon, but he has his rhymes there and then.
  • Rock Monster: His Quirk, Road Monster, allows him to transform into a giant rock golem that is the size of a Cybertronian and strong enough to take them down in a fight.

    Lady Jaye

Alison Hart-Burnett — Lady Jaye

Quirk: N/A

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/408cb1064e59d30e00b83ab91b0be3f5.jpg

  • The Ghost: Like her husband, she only has been mentioned so far and has yet to make an official appearance.
  • Parents as People: To show how much she regrets having abandoned her daughter for 10 years, she spent an entire year showing up to every major event in Marissa's life to show she cared, until Marissa finally caved in and forgave her mother.

    Cover Girl
