Dragon Worlders

    Spyro the Dragon/Jendovahzoor
The most recent in the ancient line of Purple Dragons, Spyro was born into the world with a lot to live up to. Fortunately, a natural knack for mastering his gifts, coupled with a fiery ambition and an unbreakable will, has made living up to the legends of his ancestors an almost easy task; ever since his original quest to save his kind from the clutches of Gnasty Gnorc, the name Jendovahzoor (or Spyro amongst the mortal races) has become one synonymous with great feats of battle, heroism, ferocity, and power. Both across his own world and the numerous others his adventures have taken him.

Tropes that apply to Spyro the Dragon:

  • Adaptational Personality Change: While still a good guy at heart, he behaves more like traditional dragons like Smaug. There are also some aspects of theropod dinosaurs from Walking with Dinosaurs and Dinosaur Planet with some of hints of his Skylanders Academy personality sprinkled on top.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Zig-Zagged. While he's not that much bigger than most other creatures, including humans, he's quite large when standing alongside the tiny ponies of Equestria (After all, the show's called My Little Pony for a reason). It's Played Straight, however, when he grows into his adult form.
  • Berserk Button: Don't let another dragon enter onto his territory. Or put him in the same area as his species' natural enemy, the Griffon. Spike, Rainbow Dash, and Razer found these out the hard way.
  • Black-and-White Morality: Spyro has this kind of view of the world, and in turn will fight any enemy he comes across, regardless of motive or justification.
  • Composite Character: This version of Spyro takes cues from all three of his previous iterations, including the history of the classic Spyro, the legendary status and powers of Legends Spyro, and his Skylanders incarnation's association to the titular team.
  • Destructive Savior: In his giant adult form, his powers are so strong that he could literally change Equestria's landscape during a fight with another equally large creature.
  • The Dreaded: His awesome power makes him this to most ponies, especially when he's in his adult form. Even Princess Celestia herself is afraid of him because he's so much more powerful than she is.
  • Elemental Powers: Has powers over the elements of Ice, Earth, Electricity, Fire, Wind, Water, Technology, Magic, Nature, Undeath, Light, Shadow, Fear, Poison, and Aether.
  • Genius Bruiser: In addition to having the powers of all fifteen known dragon Elements, he can get very creative with how he harnesses them.
  • Godlike Gamer: Is an avid gamer, and a big fan of Mario Party.
  • Good Is Not Soft: As a dragon, Spyro will not hesitate to do whatever is necessary to follow his destiny and save others, including destroying entire lands and killing other creatures.
  • Interspecies Romance: With Elora, especially for her "nice big pair".
  • Jumped at the Call: Quite literally, as he leapt through the World Gate to Equestria upon hearing Celestia's pleas to the Tree of Harmony.
  • Meaningful Name: His dragon name, Jendovahzoor, when translated from Dovahzul to English, means quite literally "Purple Dragon Legend", reflecting the legendary status that comes from his lineage.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: This version of Spyro is more in line with traditional Western dragons, right down to the hoarding of treasure and taking pleasure in the presence of females of a different species.
  • Physical God: His power is so great that it even rivals both Princess Luna and Princess Celestia. Also, his strength can literally change the landscape around him when he's in his giant form.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Carries immense power as per his status as a legendary purple dragon.
  • Time Master: Like his Legend counterpart, he has a degree of control over Time.

    Elora SpringGlade
Born from the tribes of the Fracture Hills, many consider Elora to be the weakest of the group; while her legs are strong and fast, her physical strength and magic diversity are lacking, leaving her often standing in the back during a fight. However, what she lacks in magical diversity she makes up for in knowledge, quick thinking, and powerful magical specialty: her skills in the Nature Element and Restoration Magic know no equal, making her a powerful Forest Mage. Thus she serves as the team's healer on the sidelines, able to mend wounds and cure poison even in the heat of battle.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Her time under Ripto was so bad that it made her desperate enough to decide to summon a dragon, which at the time seemed to be potentially an even more dangerous monster than Ripto himself. Luckily she was brought back by Spyro.
  • Fauns and Satyrs: She's a Faun hailing from Fracture Hills.
  • Interspecies Romance: She's a faun and romantically involved with Spyro, a dragon.

    Bianca Arcarrot
A foreigner in the lands of Avalar, Bianca Arcarrot hails from the more advanced and civilized Forgotten Worlds, where the forces of magic are more abundant and further researched than the rest of the Dragon World. As a wizard in training, she has full access to the knowledge of their magical advancements and can cast high level spells and incantations of all classes with ease, specializing in Alteration and Conjuration magics. According to the reports, she was once the personal assistant and apprentice to the Forgotten Worlds' former tyrannical ruler, whom she betrayed and help Spyro defeat and slay in battle.
  • Fish out of Water: She finds herself in this situation due to her being from the more civilized Forgotten Worlds, which leads to her being partially put off when she finds herself in more tribal environments such as Avalar and Ponyville.
  • Rabbit Magician: She's a Sorceress-in-Training, as per canon.
  • Token Wizard: Subverted. In this canon, she's still a Sorceress-in-Training, but she's not the only one who can use magic in Spyro's group, as other characters, including Spyro himself, can do so too.

     Zoe Autumnleaf
Fairies are a mystical and important race in the Dragon World and others of magical nature, as they tend to nature's many elements and control the changes of the seasons, much like how ponies do. Zoe Autumnleaf is a Dragon Fairy, who are considered giants in the fairy world, and whose natural job is to care for dragons and help them magically develop when young; Zoe is Spyro's personal fairy, and thanks to their magical bond she possesses full immunity to all but the most powerful and complex of magical spells and castings, as well as the ability to fuse his essence to 'safe locations' and revive him there should he fall in battle.
  • Checkpoint: As in canon, her magic can function to provide such for Spyro in case he should get killed in a fight.
  • Composite Character: While she shares the abilities of her canon counterpart, she assumes the role that Sparx usually takes in the games, having a magical bond with Spyro and the job of protecting him. She also has the personality of her A Hero's Tail incarnation.
  • Troll: Exaggerated from her A Hero's Tail self, as now she's described as "a cocky smartass who likes to mess with everyone."
  • Our Fairies Are Different: As a dragon fairy, her main purpose in life is to help raise Spyro and protect him from harm. Also, while her kind is descended from the fairies of Pixie Hollow, her character is more in line with traditional fairies.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Dishes out quite a few of these after arriving in Equestria. Most notable cases include her blasting Celestia for hiding in a cave while Twilight and company went to stop Nightmare Moon and her calling Fluttershy a coward when she's unable to overcome her crippling fear of dragons when confronted with Razer.

    Hunter of Avalar
Hailing from the Valley of Avalar, this Cheetah Beastman lives up to his name entirely: a near-otherworldly master of both jungle warfare and wielding all manner of melee weapons, he can easily match the skill and killing potential of a hundred modern warriors. While his greatest abilities are his speed and agility, he is just as strong and durable as he is cunning and instinctive; his body and mind have been honed to physical and mental perfection, making him a living weapon of the deadliest variety, able to stand side by side with the purple dragon.
  • Badass Normal: While he doesn't use magic like his other allies, he makes up for it with his own speed and strength.
  • Panthera Awesome: Averted, as his species is actually belongs to the Acinonyx genus. Nonetheless, he's still a pretty capable fighter.
  • Made of Iron: Despite not having any magical powers, he's able to walk off even the most devastating of injuries, including having a broken ribcage and a punctured lung.

    Moneybags
A greedy yet eloquent Avalarian Bear, Moneybags is (surprisingly) an acquaintance of Spyro and his friends who will gladly join them on their adventures...provided it gives him an opportunity to make a sizable profit. Though he is willing to help the heroes out, he is a business bear first and foremost and will usually only assist if paid with a "reasonable" fee.
  • Non-Action Guy: Among Spyro's comrades, he is the only one who doesn't participate in the same combat the others deal with on their adventures.
  • Opportunistic Bastard: If his sees a situation that has the potential for him to make pretty penny, you can bet he will capitalize on it

Other

    Crash Bandicoot
A friend of Spyro's hailing from another world. While he prefers to a very quiet, laidback life on the Wumpa Islands, he's actually saved the world many times from his nemesis, Dr. Neo Cortex, and a number of assorted villains throughout the years.
  • Composite Character: While he retains his classic design, he speaks gibberish like his later iterations.
  • Odd Friendship: You'd be surprised to find Spyro, a dragon possessing nearly godlike powers, considers Crash, a babbling and cartoonish mutant Bandicoot, one of his closest friends

    Coco Bandicoot
Another of Spyro's comrades from the Wumpa Islands and Crash's younger sister.
  • Magic Versus Science: She has a strong rivalry with Bianca, who prefers to rely on magic rather than technology.
