Main Characters

     Yumi
A young psychic girl, who reawakens Paris and helps him combat the flawed creations.
  • Action Survivor: She's no fighter like Paris, but Yumi does a pretty good job of keeping herself alive against the teddy bear before she wakes the puppet up.
  • Cowardly Lion: She's understandably terrified of the flawed creations, but nonetheless does her best in helping Paris to find and get rid of them.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: She often has prophetic dreams about the flawed creations. It's not an ability she particularly likes, as the things she sees tend to be gruesome.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Has blonde hair and is a very kind and caring person.
  • I See Dead People: In addition to the prophetic dreams, she is also able to see ghosts while awake. Similarly, she also doesn't like such ability.
  • Morality Pet: Serves as one to Paris, as she's one of the few people (if not the only person) he actually cares about and is willing to extend a modicum of care towards.
  • Prone to Sunburn: Due to her albinism, she wears long, dark clothing and dons a pair of sunglasses if she goes out in the daytime.
  • Psychic Nosebleed: After using her powers to help Paris locate Dorothy, a faint nosebleed can be seen on Yumi's face.
  • Raised by Grandparents: Her parents had died in an unspecified accident, leaving Yumi alone to be raised by her grandparents (that is, until her grandmother fell ill and her grandfather passed away).

     Paris
A ventriloquist dummy who was created to capture the flawed creations.
  • Anti-Hero: He exists to keep the flawed creations in line, but he's not especially sympathetic or friendly towards their victims and thoroughly lacking in empathy.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: As a ventriloquist dummy, Paris is dressed in a very nice black suit and regularly kicks major ass in it.
  • Demonic Dummy: A rare heroic example. Paris was made to keep the other flawed creations in line, a purpose he gladly fulfills.
  • The Dreaded: Is this for the other flawed creations, as he's defeated most of them once already, while the remaining ones know him by reputation.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Downplayed, as Paris is more ruthless than evil, but he does have a soft spot for Yumi and grows to genuinely care about her over the course of the story.
  • Lack of Empathy: Paris is capable of putting up a polite front, but is otherwise utterly lacking in empathy. Demonstrated when he reacts to Lily's predicament with the Red Shoes by making a very inappropriate joke about cutting off her feet. In front of her sister.
  • The Resenter: It's implied that he's carrying some sort of grudge against his creator for locking him away and possibly for ordering him to bring the flawed creations in "alive". He doesn't seem particularly sad that the creator died and positively rejoices in finally being allowed to destroy his violent siblings instead of just capturing them.

Flawed Creations

     Teddy Bear
A seemingly normal teddy bear. It turns into a monster once left alone with Yumi
  • Killer Teddy Bear: It starts out as a regular cute toy, then transforms into a vicious, blood-thirsty monster with a large, sharp-teethed maw once it's been alone with Yumi for a while.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: When it changes into its monster form, it's mouth grows a collection of sharp teeth.
  • Starter Villain: It's the very first flawed creation Yumi meets and also the first one Paris destroys, as he implies he previously had to catch it alive.
  • Would Hurt a Child: It immediately goes after Yumi once given the chance.

     The Red Shoes
A pair of corrupted dancing shoes. If they're worn, they'll make the wearer dance until they drop dead.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: The shoes seems to have a will of their own, as they compel anyone who wears them to dance and not stop until they die from exhaustion. They also force their wearer to attack everyone who might try to take them off.
  • Clingy Macguffin: They will latch onto their owner's feet the second they're put on and violently disrupt any attempt to take them off again.
  • Shout-Out: They're an obvious reference to The Red Shoes, a fairytale about a pair of pretty red dancing shoes that possess the wearers feet and make her dance until she maims herself to get rid of them. Paris even sort of references the fairy tale, joking that the easiest way to get them off of Lily would be to chop her feet off.

     The Toy Soldier
A doll made to look like a soldier. It is compelled to torture whoever possesses it.
  • Creepy Doll: A soldier doll who has a penchant for torture.
  • Dumb Muscle: Explicitly stated to lack brains.
  • Eaten Alive: A flashback reveals Polakov ate the Toy Soldier's remains.
  • Never My Fault: When Paris finds it ripped apart in the sewers, the first thing it does is to curse him and claim that its fate is wholly because of him. Paris has no patience for it and simply threatens it into revealing Yumi's location.
  • Ominous Obsidian Ooze: It starts leaking a dark red, almost black, liquid when turning bad.

     The Mirror
A mirror that traps its victims inside it and imitates them to steal their lives.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: Spends its last living moments begging not to be left behind.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: It's implied that it kidnaps children so it won't have to be alone anymore, but it's inherent wrongness causes it to hurt them. It's last words before Paris destroys it are a desperate plea to Yumi not to leave it.
  • The Man Behind the Man: It is actually the one responsible for the toy soldier kidnapping the boy.
  • Mirror Monster: A demonic entity taking the form of a mirror.

     The Camera
A mysterious camera that seems to drain the life from its owner.
  • Magical Camera: It inhabits a parasite-like being that infects anyone who touches it or even comes near it.
  • No-Sell: Paris smashing it does absolutely nothing and almost results in him getting destroyed.

     The Clown
A clown dummy much like Paris. He was supposed to be Paris' partner, but he didn't come out right. His name is revealed to be Polakov.
  • Bad Boss: When the Toy Soldier informs him of Paris' return, the Clown responds by brutalizing the Toy Soldier; so badly that the latter's in pieces when Paris finds it. Later, the Clown is seen callously dragging the Toy Soldier's remains despite its protests, and it's later shown he ate them.
  • Big Bad: Is responsible for the flawed creations going after people, and desires Yumi to consume her soul.
  • Came Back Wrong: Death turned the clown into... something, glued back together with the ectoplasm of gibbering souls.
  • The Dreaded: He's the only creation that frightens Paris.
  • Tautological Templar: He believes that since he was made to be a force for good, anyone standing against him is evil, and sees nothing wrong with kidnapping a child and dragging her across miles of ground in a sack because she didn’t want to lose the creation she’d befriended, let alone why his creator would object.

     The Darling Dolls
Twin dolls who turn humans into plush dolls.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In the remake, the two are forced into turning humans to dolls by Polakov, whereas in the original they did so of their own violation, against Polakov's orders.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Dorothy's right arm is ripped off courtesy knife thrown by Paris.

Side Characters

     Lily
Yumi's babysitter. Gets sucked into the horrifying world of Paris and the flawed creations after he saves her sister from a pair of cursed dancing shoes.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Iris calls her "doppelgänger".
  • Cool Big Sis: She acts like this when babysitting Yumi, watching out for her and caring for her as an older sibling would.
  • Distressed Damsel: She becomes the second victim of the flawed creations and is only barely saved by Paris.
  • Identical Twin ID Tag: Her hair is a bit longer than her sister's, making it easier to tell them apart.

     Iris
Lily's older twin.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Her hair is cropped short, giving her a tomboyish appearance.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: She unknowingly gifts her sister the red shoes, which immediately take control of her. If Yumi's prophetic dream is any indication, had Paris and she not shown up on time, Iris would have been indirectly responsible for Lily's death.

     Yuzo
Yumi's deceased grandfather.
  • Ambiguous Situation: As of now it's unclear what, if any, connection there is between him, Paris and the Toymaker. He seemed to some extent aware of the flawed creations and of Yumi's power to see them in her dreams. There are even some hints that he might have been the Toymaker, but if he was, we are given no explanation why he locked Paris away before his job of capturing all of them was done.
  • Posthumous Character: He has died of old age by the time the comic starts.

     Nora
One of Yumi's adoptive parents who runs an antique store.
  • Parents as People: Adoptive parents in this case, but it's clear Nora earnestly desires to be the parent Yumi needs and constantly worries over whether or not she's doing it wrong.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The more cheery and high-strung Red to Atsuko's Blue.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: In fairness, she couldn't possibly have known that the little teddy bear she bought for Yumi was actually a violent monster.

     Atsuko
One of Yumi's adoptive parents and a teacher.

     Ghosts
The various specters haunting the living world. Yumi's powers allow her to see and communicate with them.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite their terrifying appearance, they're not malicious. In fact, every time Yumi works up the courage to talk to them, they prove themselves to be helpful. One even forms such an attachment to Yumi that she vows to watch over her, taking a more human appearance in the process
  • Invisible to Normals: Regular people can't see them and even Paris only knows they're a thing because Yumi told him.
