The Crystal Gems
Rose Universe
Rose is the older child of Steven and Connie, and older sister of Vihaan.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Arguably the most common perpetrator of this.
- Dead Guy Junior: Named for her grandmother's alter-ego.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The foolish to Vihaan's responsible.
- Gamer Chick: Highly skilled at various arcade games.
- Half-Human Hybrid: A quarter Gem on her father's side.
- Nobody Touches the Hair: Damaging or insulting her hair is not a good idea. In a twist, it's not because she's vain; it’s because she sees it as an insult on her grandmother and family in general.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to her brother's blue.
- Sinister Scythe: Wields one in battle.
- Voluntary Shapeshifter: Inherited this from her father.
Vihaan Universe
Vihaan is the younger child of Steven and Connie, and younger brother of Rose.
- Annoying Younger Sibling: Sometimes seen as this by Rose.
- Battle Bolas: Fights with clackers, which were also used by Joseph Joestar.
- Child Prodigy: Described as one.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The responsible to his sister's foolish.
- Half-Human Hybrid: A quarter Gem on his father's side.
- Otaku: He loves manga, especially JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
- Palette Swap: He's depicted with Steven's general body shape and Connie's hair and skin colors.
- Puppy Love: With Violet.
- Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Mild, but should he really be reading Jojo's Bizarre Adventure at age eight?
Steven Universe
The titular protagonist of Steven Universe, all grown up. He’s married to Connie and has two kids.
- Action Dad: Being a father hasn't impeded on his ability to fight one bit.
- Astral Projection: Increased to the point that he can project himself inside of his gem and talk with his mother, Pink Diamond. He can also take others with him.
- Battle Couple: With Connie.
- Happily Married: To Connie.
- Hidden Depths: Took up geology in the time skip.
- Honorary Uncle: To Celeste.
- Papa Wolf: Went into Super Mode the moment the Slinker hurt Rose.
- Super Mode: He's gained one which allows him to tap into his full power as a Diamond.
- Took a Level in Badass: Besides getting more control over his powers, he's also learned magic from Star.
Connie Maheswaran-Universe
Steven’s wife, and the mother of Rose and Vihaan.
- Action Mom: She's a good mother to her children and a highly skilled swordswoman on the battlefield.
- Battle Couple: With Steven.
- Happily Married: To Steven.
- Honorary Aunt: To Celeste.
- Important Haircut: She cut her hair when she got older because the kids kept pulling on it.
- Mama Bear: Hurting her kids is probably the last mistake you'll ever make.
- Write Who You Know: In-Universe, her novel series is based off of the exploits of the Crystal Gems.
The Butterfly family
Princess Celeste Butterfly
The daughter of Star and Marco, who is currently living with the Crystal Gems to master her magic.
- All of the Other Reindeer: Bullied for her Half-Human Hybrid status when she was younger...until Steven and Connie stepped in.
- Facial Markings: Shooting stars on her cheeks.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Half human, half mewman.
- Holy Halo: Her wand has one of these, as a part of the angel motif.
- How Do I Shot Web?: She's still learning to control her magic, and her spells occasionally tend to backfire — like the time she froze Rose in a block of ice with a spell meant to change her eye color.
- Meaningful Name: "Celeste" means "heavenly", and her wand is based off of angels (which come from…you know).
- Noodle Incident: The reason she hates tangelos is unexplained.
- Our Angels Are Different: What her wand is based off of.
- Precocious Crush: Apparently had one on Steven when she was younger.
- Stellar Name: As is common in the Butterfly family.
Queen Star Butterfly
The queen of Mewni, and a close friend of Steven and Connie’s.
- Happily Married: To Marco.
- Honorary Aunt: To Rose and Vihaan.
- Mama Bear: She explicitly tells Glossaryck that, if he abandons Celeste like he did her, he's in for a world of hurt.
- Older and Wiser: She's matured out of much of her teenage recklessness, though she still has her moments.
King Marco Butterfly
Star’s husband, and a close friend of Steven and Connie’s.
- Happily Married: To Star.
- Honorary Uncle: To Rose and Vihaan.
- Took a Level in Badass: He's now a Keyblade wielder, among other things.
The Pepper family
Violet Pepper
The daughter of Lewis and Vivi, and a friend of Vihaan.
- Dem Bones: Her ghost half prominently displays her skeleton.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Half-ghost, thanks to her father.
- I Just Want to Be Normal: She hates her ghost half, since it’s caused her family to move several times in the past. Vihaan helps her get over this.
- Otaku: Like Vihaan, which helps them befriend each other.
- Playing with Fire: Inherited from her father.
- Puppy Love: With Vihaan.
- Purple Is Powerful: Wears purple and has purple hair and eyes, and is a powerful half-ghost.
- Shrinking Violet: She's a bit shy, but eventually warms up to Vihaan.
Lewis Pepper
Violet's father, a powerful ghost. He runs Mystery Skulls' Tomes and Transcripts with his wife.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Generally a nice guy...until you set off his temper.
- Dem Bones: In ghost mode.
- Happily Married: To Vivi.
- Our Ghosts Are Different: He's a powerful, skeletal spirit.
Vivi Pepper
Lewis' wife, Violet’s mother, and the co-owner of Mystery Skulls' Tomes and Transcripts.
- Happily Married: To Lewis.
- Mystical Pregnancy: When she was pregnant with Violet, she experienced complications such as floating in her sleep and uncontrollable fire breath.
Mystery
The Pepper family's pet kitsune who pretends to be a dog.
- Asian Fox Spirit: What he is.
- Only Sane Man: During the first Halloween special.
- Talking Animal: He can talk in both forms.
Fusions
Crystal
A fusion between every single member of the Crystal Gems.
- Ambiguous Gender: The majority of their components are female, but it goes by they/them pronouns and includes the male Steven.
- Godzilla Threshold: They're only formed in the most extreme of circumstances, like when the cluster creature AU!Yellow Pearl created got loose.
- Light Is Good: A white-colored fusion of all the Crystal Gems.
- The Voiceless: They never speak.
Violhaan
A fusion between Violet and Vihaan. They were first formed during the second Halloween special.
- Ambiguous Gender: Like Stevonnie before them, due to being a fusion between a male and a female.
- Dem Bones: Their half-ghost form has bones formed over their skin.
- Half-Human Hybrid: They're a quarter ghost and one-eighth gem.
- Playing with Fire: Gained from Violet.
- Voluntary Shapeshifter: Gained from Vihaan.

Celeste's friends
Memphis Lucitor
The son of Tom and Janna.- Half-Human Hybrid: A quarter demon and a quarter mewman.
- Straight Gay: Aside from the earring, he doesn't display any obvious signs that he's gay.
Pony Head Jr.
The daughter of Pony Head.- Evil Aunt: All of her aunts seem to qualify as this, considering that they’re still trying to take her mother’s throne.
- Exotic Eye Designs: Her pupils are shaped like stars.
- Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Implied; she's more mature than her mother was at that age, and (like most teenagers) dislikes her mother's attempts at being cool.
Dylan Thomas
The son of Jackie-Lynn Thomas.- Generation Xerox: He's basically a gender-swapped version of his mother, right down to having a princess from another dimension as a friend.
- Parental Abandonment: His deadbeat dad abandoned him and his mom before he was born.
Villains
Steven Diamond
A version of Steven from an alternate dimension where he was Yellow Diamond's son instead of Rose Quartz's, and the main antagonist of the "Through the Prism" arc. Except not really.
- Anti-Villain: The only reason he came to Earth in the first place was to rescue his wife and children from the Crystal Gems, which he believes to be evil. In fact, most of his villainy is a result of AU!Yellow Pearl's manipulations.
- Fangs Are Evil: Sports a pair of sharp teeth, and is an antagonist.
- Heel–Face Turn: At the end of the arc, upon learning the truth behind everything that's been going on.
- Supernatural Gold Eyes: Inherited from his mother.
AU!Yellow Pearl
Formerly belonging to Yellow Diamond, she later became Steven Diamond's caretaker and assistant. She is the true Big Bad of the "Through the Prism" arc, having manipulated Steven Diamond from birth.
- Abusive Parents: She was emotionally abusive towards Steven, trying to instill Homeworld's twisted values in him.
- Big Bad: Of the "Through the Prism" arc.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: She becomes a part of the Cluster that she created.
- Dragon with an Agenda: She's using Steven Diamond to continue Yellow Diamond's legacy.
- Karmic Death: Authorized several unethical fusion experiments, and becomes a victim to one of them in the end.
- Walking Spoiler: Oh yeah.
Xefetof
Celeste’s archnemesis, who is seeking the resurrection of Toffee and destruction of the Butterfly family.
- Ambiguous Situation: Though not outright confirmed by KujaroJotu yet, his name, goals, and the riddle the author leftnote all seem to imply that he's Toffee's Nobody, which only raises further questions.
- Healing Factor: Similar to Toffee's, which is another hint towards Septarian origin.
- Immortality: Said to have this in his profile.
- Lizard Folk: He appears to be one. It's suspected that he's a Septarian like Toffee was.
- Spikes of Villainy: Sports a pair of these on his shoulder pads.
- Villain of Another Story: He's Celeste's archnemesis, and has presumably fought her in the past.
- Winged Humanoid: He has a pair of dragon-esque wings on his back.
- Yellow Eyes of Sneakiness: He sports a pair of these, highlighting his cold and calculating nature.
The Yuki-onna
The main antagonist of the second Halloween special.
- An Ice Person: Being a Yuki-onna.
- Anti-Villain: While she does freeze people to death, she was blackmailed into attacking Grandma Yukino's house, and wants to keep her children safe.
- Half-Human Hybrid: What her children presumably are.
- Yuki-onna: Yep. She's depicted as being fine in non-winter conditions, and kills people by freezing them to death. She also let a man go when she saw how beautiful he was, which is how the whole plot started in the first place.
The businessman
A businessman who wants to tear down Grandma Yukino’s house and build an arcade.
- Blackmail: Threatens to tell the Yuki-onna's children her secret unless she does his dirty work for him.
- Chekhov's Gunman: He's the reason the Yuki-onna attacked the Yukino household.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: Won't take "no" for an answer when he tries to buy Grandma Yukino's house. And that's not getting into what he uses the Yuki-onna for.
- Domestic Abuse: Blackmails his wife.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: Gets his wife's secret wiped from his mind.
- No Name Given: Only referred to as "the businessman".
