"Let's get right to the ass kickin!"
Voiced by Aleks Le
Charged with protecting the Starseed along with his friend Aiko, though he would rather be doing anything else.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Knows he's a badass and most of his combat banter is letting others know it too.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: He's a skilled warrior but he clearly doesn't take his duties seriously and really likes to complain about how over-elaborate the scholars mechanisms are.
  • Fell Asleep Standing Up: Does so in the break area found in the Forgotten City, leaning om his sword to help prop himself up. Aiko comments Its a talent of his.
  • Idiot Hair: He's not one for the academic part of his duties, and his messy hair is kept out of face only by a bandana.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Tetsuo may be lazy, arrogant, rude, and loud, but he does care about Aiko deep down, rushing to jump and catch her in mid-air after she falls from the thief's escape pod. In the credits he even approaches her with flowers behind his back, implying he wasn't as dense to her feelings as she previously believed.
  • Martial Arts Headband: Wears a hachimaki as part of his attire, presumably, like with real life swordsman, to keep his hair out of his face while he fights.
  • Ship Tease: His comrade Aiko huffs that he never takes her anywhere fun in a way that suggests she likes him. It seems it's mutual as he jumps to save her from falling at one point, and in the ending credits he's shown approaching her with a flower behind his back.

    Aiko

"Hardly a challenge."The more dutiful and well read member of the Starseed guardian duo and the younger sister of Bichiko.
  • Badass Bookworm: Is seen reading in the opening animation and is the most knowledgeable of the group.
  • Covert Pervert: Is able to recognize the stolen sign of an establishment called "The Naughty Kitten", and doesn't elaborate on why she can.
  • Dual Wield: A pair of dual-wielded Tantos are her weapons of choice, and she's very good with them. Just ask all the dead bodies of yokai.
  • Ms. Fanservice: While not on the same level of vavoom as her sister, Aiko is still a very attractive woman in her own right.
  • Nature Lover: Really enjoyed the outdoors she experienced while stationed in the mountains to protect the Starseed. Later in the game she's the one to convince the other's to save the Dragonworm being tortured by Yokai.
  • Not So Above It All: Despite her trying to be the more responsible of the duo, she's not above loosing her shit and swearing up a storm in battle just like Tetsuo. Particularly if an enemy has bled on her shoes.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: That's her relationship with Tetsuo, not that he seems to noticed. Until the end credits show otherwise.

     Bichiko

"Elegance, is beauty that never fades."
Voiced by Stephanie Panisello

Captain of the city guards where she, Aiko and Tetsuo live. A city which runs on the essence provided by the Starseed, and so it adamant in getting it back before her city descends into, in her words; "a shitshow" since they'll literally be without a means to power their sewage system.

  • All Amazons Want Hercules: Is a hell of a fighter herself and really wants to bone Wilhelm, but as she mentioned to Aiko, he'll be "Her Greatest Challenge Yet" since he's... well, Wilhelm.
  • Cool Big Sis. While she might tease Aiko she also has her back, once even subtly sabotaging Tetsuo's date with a redhead by advising they go out to a "Bean and Garlic Bonanza", which naturally killed any romantic atmosphere they might've developed. The implication being she arranged it just so he remains available for Aiko.
  • Big Sister Bully: Often playfully chastises Aiko for her lack of a boyfriend.
  • Interplay of Sex and Violence: Let's just say she get's very excited during combat, if her cries of "Oh baby!" whenever she successfully blocks an attack are any clue.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: While very haughty and smug her goals are altruistic, and she's a dedicated town watch captain and sister.
  • Ms. Fanservice: The animated opening shows that even Yokai salivate and tear up at the sight of her.
  • Naginatas Are Feminine: Fitting for one who prides herself on being ladylike, even while slaughtering her foes.
  • Neat Freak: Can't stand dirt, soot, or grime, and is especially uncomfortable while walking through the ash covered ruins of a city long ago destroyed by experimenting with the Starseed.
  • Not So Above It All: While sliding down a crater on a makeshift board, the usually prim and proper Bichiko lets out an exited, "Woohoo! This is awesome!" obviously enjoying herself.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Is the second tallest of the team and quite attractive.
  • The Perfectionist: Follows the teachings of a book called: "The Guide to Perfection" that's entirely dedicated to this, which she frequently quotes, It's apparently a multi tome'd Big Book Of Everything, covering things from etiquette and combat, to hygiene and even effective positions to use when on a toilet. Nothing on how pick up girls though, to Tetsuo's disappointment when he asked.
  • The Tease: Her battle taunts and dialogue are very flirty.
  • The Captain: Run's Coastal City's guard. When the Yokai attack, she's was already busy coordinating the defenses as well as the evacuation of the public, before joining up with Aiko and Tetsuo.
  • Thong of Shielding: As you can probably tell from her artwork, (or happen to glance it when her clothes flap around in combat) she's wearing one.
  • Proud Beauty: Is very confident in her appearance, and It's likely the reason for her Stripperiffic choice in clothes. At one point, she responds to her sister's quary as to why it took her so long to cross the short distance between the bushes to the hot spring they're all in with a; "If you've got it, flaunt it."

    Wilhelm
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anna_kurdziel_h_wilhelm.jpg
"Now you face the fury of Oklenheim!"
Voiced by Jay Simon

A warrior from a far off land, who aided the heroes repel the invasion of Yokai. He's come in search of his own missing MacGuffin "The Worldssprout" and joins them in their quest hoping to find it along the way.

  • Axe-Crazy: Carries a big axe blade into battle, and he really loves battle.
  • Accidental Innuendo: Compliments Tetsuo's sword shape, length, girth and grip, in a manner which makes him very uncomfortable. Not helping is the fact they're all in a hot spring at the time and the younger man is clearly intimidated but Wilhelm's... serpent.
  • Bathos: He makes a long eloquent monologue about eternal struggles while the group is taking a bathroom break.
  • Chaste Hero: Mentions his warriors code leaves no room for companionship. Not that he's able to recognize a ladies interest in the first place, much to Bichiko's dismay.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: The ladies like to call him "Big Willy" and he also fails to pick of on Bichiko's flirtations.
  • Cultural Chop Suey: He has a Germanic name, and a Scottish accent, lives in a giant tree based on the Yggdrasil of Norse mythology, and has dark skin. As you can imagine, he stands out in the far-eastern inspired setting.
  • The Big Guy: Towers over the other player characters.
  • Black Viking: Has a Scottish accent and is dark skinned. Justified as he mentions his ancestors were once nomadic desert wanderers before settling in a giant tree, Glusasil, that sprung out from the dunes after it was created by the Worldssprout which lay within. It eventually turned the land lush and green, allowing them to live among it's branches, with the Worldsprouts disappearance it's begun to wither, revealing it is for his people's sake that Wilhelm must find it.
  • Department of Redundancy Department: Introduced himself as "Wilhelm the white wolf, of the wolf tribe."
  • Establishing Character Moment: Is introduced screaming atop a pile of Yokai he's killed, calling out to the fleeing Yokai that no matter how far they run, he will hunt down and kill them, establishing his Blood Knight status, before stepping down and having a friendly chat with the other three, solidifying him as an Nice Guy as well.
  • Literal-Minded: Doesn't always pick up on what others mean when they're talking. When Tetsuo proudly proclaims "A warrior never turns back." near the finale, Wilhelm says that it would be foolish since "What if an enemy was behind them", nor does he realize that Aiko is referring to him when she says, having met him she now knows what her sister was talking about and instead expresses an interest in fighting the impressive warrior Bichiko met.
  • Manly Facial Hair: Its no coincidence that Wilhelm, the manliest member of the group, who walks around bare-chested and slaughters Yokai by the hundreds with an axe, is also the only one with a beard.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Wilhelm is a tall, muscular, white haired, bronzed skinned man who never wears a shirt.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: At one point Tetsuo tries to make a That's What She Said joke, when Wilhelm says "It looks smaller up close.", when their at the gates of the enemey stronghold. He tells Tetsuo he's sorry to hear that.
  • Younger Than They Look: Possibly, he has white hair but Tetsuo at one point claims their both the same age. Of course that might just be him being insecure over the idea that an older man just might be as badass as him.
