    Violet Lang

Violet Lang

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: Rather than his game counterpart's default brown hair and eyes, he has blonde hair and orange eyes.
  • Adaptational Hairstyle Change: He has his hair in the side part style, with an extra bang dangling down his forehead.
  • Badass Biker: He is a skilled trainer riding Miraidon as a motorcycle and calls himself the "Prince of Speed".
  • Badass Cape: As part of his "prince" look, he wore a cape in his initial appearance, which was taken away from him by Miriam due to it being a bedsheet from her nurse's office.
  • Bavarian Fire Drill: He gets the Pokédex app due to his forceful and haughty personality causing Jacq to think he is descended from royalty.
  • Blood Knight: He admits that he cannot help but pay attention to a battle when one is going on.
  • Breaking Old Trends: Several:
    • He is the first customizable character who does not use his standard design.
    • He is the first Dex Holder based on the male protagonist who is named after the second version of the game.
  • Condescending Compassion: He thinks that making Arven train his Pokémon for him is a kindness since as the "Prince of Speed", he does not need any practice or studying and that Arven needs it more as a commoner.
  • Detrimental Determination: Even though the Quaking Earth Titan is overpowering his team without any effort, he still tries to defeat it and obtain the Herba Mystica.
  • Irony: Despite liking Pokémon battles, he does not take the Gym Challenge and instead searches for the rare Herba Mysticas to feed Miraidon.
  • Literal-Minded: When Arven says he doesn't battle, he thinks that Arven doesn't have any knowledge about Pokémon battling.
  • Non-Uniform Uniform: He wears the standard spring uniform but forgoes the hat while keeping the optional gloves. He initially also wore a bed sheet as a cape and a fake King's Rock as a crown, but both were quickly discarded.
  • Only Six Faces: Word of God states the reason why he doesn't have the default hairstyle is to prevent him from looking too similar to Ortega. For bonus points, they both even come from affluent families.
  • Prone to Tears: He immediately burst into tears when Arven told him that he was not his best friend due to his ego.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Due to his pampered upbringing, he truly believes himself to be royalty and considers himself so talented that he will have Arven train his Pokémon for him.
  • Spoiled Brat: Due to being pampered by his parents, who always called him their "Little Prince" along with forcing everyone near him to call him that, he has a big ego and demands that everyone else also treats him like a prince.
  • To Be a Master: His goal is to gather the Herba Mysticas to feed them to Miraidon and make it the fastest thing alive so that he can truly attain the self-proclaimed title of "Prince of Speed".

Violet's Pokémon

Fuecoco

  • Blood Knight: It likes to battle and was dissatisfied when Violet didn't call him due to being busy training his other Pokémon.
  • Playing with Fire: It's a Fire-Type Pokémon.

Nymble

  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: It's a Bug-Type Pokémon and Terrastalizes with the same type to defeat Giaccomo.

Paldean Wooper

Smoliv

    Scarlet Koito

Scarlet Koito

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: Rather than her game counterpart's default brown hair and eyes, she has black hair and purple eyes.
  • Big Eater: While she was extremely hungry back then due to not having eaten for possibly days, she manages to eat everything inside Katy's bakery with the Gym Leader noting that will have to close the shop the next day due to there being nothing left to sell.
  • Breaking Old Trends: She is the first Dex Holder based on the female player character to be named after the first version of the game.
  • Combat Pragmatist: She has no issue using her Tarountula on humans outside of sanctioned battles, via tripping or restraining them using Tarountula's thread. When she had five Team Star grunts trapped in a giant ball of thread and was about to kick them down a massive flight of stairs, one of them even exclaimed that she had gone too far.
  • Cool Helmet: She initially hid her face with a helmet.
  • Do Well, But Not Perfect: Her status as an honor student was supposed to prevent her from standing out to the staff, but this only made her Nemona's opponent for the day announcing the Treasure Hunt.
  • Exact Words: After saving Penny from being harassed by members of Team Star, she is contacted by Cassiopeia. However, Scarlet would only listen to Cassiopeia's request if they can help her get into Uva Academy. After Cassiopeia fulfills their part of the deal and reveals Operation Starfall to her, she refuses since she only has agreed to listen to her request, but never said anything about actually accepting it.
  • Expy: Her appearance is based on Wednesday Addams from Wednesday mixed with Juliana's appearance from the game.
  • Forgets to Eat: She is so focused on her treasure hunting that she forgets to eat with Team Star having once found her unconscious.
  • Irony: Despite being a Treasure Hunter, she does not partake in the search for the Herba Mystica and instead takes part in the Gym Challenge to obtain information about the Treasures of Ruin.
  • Mysterious Past: The only thing known about her past is that she infiltrated the academy with Cassiopeia helping fake her transcripts after she was found by Team Star while passed out in the middle of nowhere. In the present, her goal is to find the Treasures of Ruin.
  • Mythology Gag: Her Starter Pokémon, black hair, and hairstyle are possibly a reference to the promotional art featuring Juliana facing off against the Stony Cliff Titan.
  • Non-Uniform Uniform: She wears the standard autumn uniform but forgoes the hat while keeping the optional gloves. She also wears black tights like Nemona, and has her Tarountula stuck itself to her back instead of the schoolbag.
  • Not in This for Your Revolution: While she was part of Team Star in the past, she only joined them out of obligation for them helping her when they found her passed out in the middle of nowhere. She ends up ditching them due to disliking their forceful recruitment techniques.
  • Refusal of the Call: She was Cassiopeia's first choice for Operation Starfall, but her refusal caused Cassiopeia to seek out Violet instead.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Her most notable trait is her sharp eyes giving her a fierce appearance.
  • Treasure Hunter: She searches for the Treasures of Ruin and is shown to collect Gimmighoul Coins.
  • The Unreveal: When Nemona Terastallizes her Pawmi into an Electric-Type, she Terastallizes her Pikachu into a Flying-Type, which is weak against the former type, but the battle is interrupted by Violet before it's revealed what her intentions are. Although considering the fact Scarlet didn't want to partake in the exhibition battle, it is rather implied she might have tried to throw the battle.
  • You Dont Look Like Yourself: Goes from looking like this to looking more like Wednesday Addams from her TV series.

Scarlet's Pokémon

Pikachu

Tarountula

  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: It's a Bug-Type Pokémon and its silk is used by Scarlet for various purposes.
  • Mirror Match: It faces off against Katy's Tarountula, but the battle ended up declared a draw due to both of them releasing all their silk on the battlefield, which ended up entangling them both.
  • Mundane Utility: While Tarountula can battle, its main utility is its extremely versatile silk. Scarlet uses it to get to hard to reach areas, make makeshift baskets, and so on.

Sprigatito

    Arven
  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: In the games, Arven always calls the player his best bud, but Violet being such an egomaniac causes him to outright declare that they are not friends.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Unlike the game, he lacks the Skwovet he had in the beginning, which leaves him with no Pokémon when Violet drags him to fight against the Quaking Earth Titan.
  • The Drag-Along: Violet outright drags Arven with him in the hunt for the Herba Mystica.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: He works together with Violet to obtain all five Herba Mysticas, but he can barely stand the spoiled brat's ego and attitude.

    Nemona
  • Affectionate Nickname: She wants Scarlet to become her rival and nicknames her "Letty" after Scarlet says that she doesn't want her name to become public.
  • Blood Knight: Just like in the game, she loves battling and is disappointed over the fact her battle against Scarlet was interrupted by Violet.
  • The Thing That Would Not Leave: She essentially forces herself into Scarlet's search for the Treasures of Ruin.
