     General
  • Adults Are Useless: Are completely incapable of stopping crime in the long run and do little more then ruin poorer communities under the guise of “ridding them of crime”.
  • Allegorical Character: They’re more or less just police but with animal-themed superpowers. They have way more funding then they need, have no ability to de-escalate conflict, exploit prison labor, and only serve to enforce capitalist interests above any citizen welfare.
  • Beware the Superman: As befitting of a Capepunk story as this one.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: Of The Avengers, being led by a billionaire in a high tech suit and a Captain Patriotic. Their individual flaws are explored below.
  • Celebrity Superhero: Z.A.G. has clearly capitalized on them with advertising deals, talk shows, and even creating the Zag Cinematic Universe / ZCU.
  • Corporate-Sponsored Superhero: Are largely sent in to preserve corporate interests such as suppressing protestors to an oil drilling site or raiding nations that go socialist to preserve their oil reserves.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: Eagleman and Peacekeeper show exactly why it's a bad idea to have a billionaire war profiteer and a patriot super-soldier as the world's saviors.
  • Destructive Saviour: Successfully conduct a drug bust... at the cost of burning down the entire neighborhood.
  • Eagleland: Fall several astronomical units into the territory of boorish. One half of the leadership is a mindless, gun-loving patriot and the other is a Corrupt Corporate Executive warmonger.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Were not in the story early on. Word of God says their chapters are to establish a major arc later on.
  • Foil: To Team Arctic. Team Arctic is a teenage, vigilante Ragtag Bunch of Misfits acting outside the law and without supervision fighting more-or-less a personal enemy. The Z-Squadron, OTOH, has oversight albeit a very shitty one. They’re more or less enforcers of the government's status quo.
  • Rabid Cop: See Destructive Savior. Along with that, they have virtually no de-escalation skills and are prioritized to arrest and punish criminals rather than stop violence.
  • Skewed Priorities: Upon finding out about the Phoenix Mage's abominations and Team Arctic fighting them, they're glad they have a new source of propaganda justifying their authority and upset they have competition for title of saviors of America.

    Z.A.G.
Zimmerman Automated Guard, the tech company bankrolling the Z-Squadron.

    Eagleman
The leader of the team using the Eagle Miraculous.

    Peacekeeper
Victor Zimmerman, CEO of Zimmerman Automated Guard and co-captain of the Z-Squadron.

    King Cobra
  • Aloof Ally: Is easily the most quiet and reclusive member of the team.
  • Only in It for the Money: He admits to his teammates that all he cares about is money.
“We need to keep up our image. While our true goal is to crush these cartels, occasionally showing mercy would help with our image as saviors but make no mistake. Our duty is to capital and only capital.”
  • Snakes Are Sinister: Uses the cobra miraculous and is a member of the Z-Squadron.

    Major Canis
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: Given his brutality in the line of duty, he exposes how bad it would be in the long-run of having a hero powered by rage would be in the long run.
  • Expy: Of Edward Blake/The Comedian from Watchmen, being a trigger-happy warmonger who causes enough collateral damage that he becomes a PR nightmare.
  • Persona Non Grata: After footage leaks of his collateral damage, he's exiled from the Z Squadron, for now...
  • Savage Wolves: Uses the wolf miraculous and is one of the more brutal characters seen thus far.
  • Token Evil Teammate: While none of the Members of the Z-Squadron are particularly good, he's especially a piece of work with his brutality.

    Peregrine/Rita

Other Z.A.G. Heroes.

    Red Ranger
The wielder of the Red Panda Miraculous.
