Prologue: Selva Oscura

    Hooligans

Hooligans

The first enemies faced by the Sinners, and the most basic type, being Rats (criminals too low level to be worthy of joining any established gang).

They consist of three basic types: The Number-Nuts Hooligan, the Sharp Hooligan and the Famished Hooligan, being lead by a Head Hooligan. They attack with Pride skills.

  • Achilles' Heel: All four types share a weakness to slashing attacks.
  • The Goomba: They're the most basic enemies in the game with only one single coin attack. The Head Hooligan marginally steps up their game with a guard and a two coin attack, but are essentially just as weak.

Canto I: The Outcast

    G Corp Veterans

G Corp Veterans

Surviving employees of G Corp. They fled to the abandoned branch D-02 of Lobotomy Corp when their Wing fell due to the Smoke War. Initially indifferent, they attack the Sinners after realizing Gregor was among them. They consist of three subtypes, each of which has three ranks of increasing power. They attack with Lust skills.

    Recollected G Corp Soldiers

Recollected G Corp Soldiers

Soldiers formed from Gregor's memories of the Smoke War, they possess far greater mutations than their living counterparts found on the earlier floors of the dungeon. They're similar to the G Corp Veterans, but with different resistances and stronger attacks. They attack with Gluttony skills.

  • Body Horror: On top of their existing mutations, they seem to be infested by some kind of vine-like substance.
  • Elite Mooks: Downplayed. They have better skills, though not by much.

Canto II: The Unloving

    Tingtangers

Tingtangers

Members apart of a Syndicate called the Tingtang Gang that operates in District 10's Backstreets and one of the Syndicates vying for the Golden Bough and plan to use stolen wishpower to do so, something that catch's the Sinners' attention. They attack with Lust and Gluttony skills.
  • Luck Manipulation Mechanic: Wee Wish, their sole Gluttony Skill, ensures that every Coin of the second skill they use lands on heads for the turn it was used. Fittingly, their skills effects only activate when the Coin lands on heads when hitting their target.
  • Tattooed Crook: A gang that uses Wish Stickers for themselves, and its not just to win big in gambling.

    J Corp. Security

J Corp. Security

The security team for J Corp's Branch J-03. The Sinners end up attracting their attention when Dante ends up blowing all of their stolen wishpower onto a roulette and hitting a jackpot, something that should otherwise be impossible. They monitor the various floors as well as look over the Slaves mining away within the underground mines. They use Pride, Sloth, and Wrath skills.

    Los Mariachis

Los Mariachis

Another Syndicate located within District 10's Backstreets hunting for the Golden Bough that's themed after a mariachi band that value raw emotion and expression, only seeing gambling as something purely for fun. They're in control of the second floor of Branch J-03 and come to blows with the Sinners after insulting Ryōshū for her sour looks and Dante' unreadable face. They attack with Sloth, Envy, and Gloom skills.

    Tieqiu Crew

Tieqiu Crew

Yet another Syndicate from the Backstreets of District 10 that's after the Golden Bough and is in control of Branch J-03's third floor. They're a gang of large and muscular men with a crude and vulgar vocabulary that they apparently use to their advantage. They use Gloom, Lust, and Sloth skills.

    Slaves

Slaves

Casino goers who have gambled away everything they have and are forced to work off their astronomically large debts underneath J Corp's casinos. Their time in the mines have taken their tolls on them. They utilize Sloth skills.

Canto III: The Unconfronting

    K Corp. Security

K Corp. Security

K Corp's armed security team. The Sinners end up on the wrong end after Don Quixote causes a scene at a checkpoint. They return in Canto IV as one of the main enemies halfway through albeit through coercion by hacked K Corp drones.

    N Corp. Inquisition

N Corp. Inquisition

Zealous employees of N. Corp serving as the rank and file of the Nagel und Hammer Inquisition. They serve as the main enemies of Canto III.

Canto IV: The Unchanging

    K Corp. Drones

K Corp Drones

Robots utilized by K Corp. The Sinners first encounter filming drones recording footage of the damage wrought by Brazen Bull rampaging in Nest K and are forced to fight through them to suppress it. Later on in the Canto they get hacked by Ran and designates the Sinners as their enemies and causes the Wing's security to turn on them by threatening them to do the same.

The Filming and Arrest Drones use Gluttony, Sloth, Pride, and Envy skills while Hacked Regen Drones use only Gluttony and Lust skills.

    Rosespanner Workshop

Rosespanner Workshop

A workshop office hybrid hired by Shrenne seemingly to fight off against the T.L.A. when in reality they serve as additional muscle for them. Once the jig is up they waste no time on turning against the Sinners.

    T.L.A. Robots

T.L.A. Robots

Large, hulking automatons utilized by the Technology Liberation Alliance to combat K. Corp's security team.

    T.L.A. E.G.O. Users

T.L.A. E.G.O. Users

Members of the Technology Liberation Alliance. While they relied on robots due to possessing no combat capabilities on their own it turns out they are far from helpless. They managed to acquire Lobotomy Corp. E.G.O. from L Corp's Nest K Branch and use it to launch an attack on a K Corp Laboratory.

They come in two types: Lobotomy E.G.O::Sloshing and Lobotomy E.G.O::Red Sheet. The former attacks with Sloth and Gluttony skills while the latter attacks purely with Lust skills.

    T Corp. Collectors

T Corp Collectors

Recollections of T Corp's employees from Yi Sang's psyche, specifically from the memories of them raiding the League of Nine Littérateurs.

They attack with Sloth, Pride, and Envy skills.
  • Powerful Pick: Their main weapons are large mining picks they slam upon their enemies.

Intervallo II: S.E.A.

    Trash Crabs

Trash Crabs

Mutant hermit crabs that make their shells from landfill junk, and serve as the main enemy for Intervallo II.
  • Giant Enemy Crab: The largest of them is about the size of a shipping container.
  • Hyperactive Metabolism: All of them have the ability to heal by eating other trash crabs. The king crab also has the ability to summon smaller crabs, giving it a constant source of healing.
  • Shoulder Cannon: The larger crabs have cannons on their backs, with some also equipping a bayonet.

Canto V: The Evil Defining

    Twinhook Pirates

Twinhook Pirates

A Syndicate native to U Corp. that engages in kidnapping and blackmail along with more reputable public-facing business such as perfume making and dance clubs. They're also affiliated with the Middle, one of the five big Syndicates known together as the Five Fingers.
  • Always a Bigger Fish: Despite being one of the major Syndicates of U Corp, they're fairly low on the totem pole - not only are they a subsidiary of the Middle, but they're just as far on the bottom of the Great Lake food chain as any other human.
  • Hooks and Crooks: Their primary weapons, its even in their name.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Despite being called the Twinhook Pirates, individual members only wield one hook in combat.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Immediately after assaulting one of their bases and barely sparing their First Mate after having her at their mercy, the pirates will still try and get in the Sinners' way out of revenge for their bruised honor. Much like how the Kurokumo Clan takes portions of the Thumb's modus operandi, so too does the Twinhooks with the Middle - no grudge left unsettled, no slight against the "family" left unanswered.
  • Ruthless Modern Pirates: Though they look like 1800s Caribbean pirates, they operate out of dance clubs, regularly kidnap marks off the streets if they think they can get a good ransom for them, and have entire shipping containers full of the corpses they've created.
  • Sword and Gun: As per their pirate aesthetic - however, because of the Head's tax on firearms, only the First Mate is seen using a gun since the bullets are so expensive.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: When the ransom for their kidnapped victims fails to be paid on time (and as they keep demanding more and more after each payment, it will happen eventually), they kill them off.

    Mermaids

Mermaids

Minions of the various Whales that inhabit the Great Lake.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: The battles with them are following the rules against human enemies, which seems odd given their shape and introduction. Only after the second fight against them is it revealed what the mermaids once were.
  • Human Resources: With Ishmael revealing that Mermaids were humans that fell victim to the Whales, all the past mentions of various products made using Mermaids (like perfumes and wine) retroactively become examples of this trope.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: They look freaky and fully fishlike, and the only human component of these Mermaids comes from them all formerly being actual humans.
  • Sanity Slippage: All of the various Mermaids specialise in applying Sinking, befitting how the sight of them is usually enough indication to anyone unlucky enough to not get out of the Waves in time that they're not going to make it out in one piece.
  • Was Once a Man: All Mermaids were originally humans, "parasitized" by the Whales and "devoured" by them, then turned into said Mermaids.

    The Middle

The Middle

Members of one of the Five Fingers of the Backstreets.

To learn more about them, see here.

Intervallo III: Miracle in District 20

    Gnomes

Gnomes

Creatures from the Outskirts who kidnap humans and process them into presents to give to the other creatures of the Outskirts. They attack with Sloth and Gluttony skills, while the big ones attack with Lust skills.
  • Cute Creature, Creepy Mouth: They're small adorable creatures, but whenever they attack or get knocked back they expose their sharp-toothed maws.
  • Our Gnomes Are Weirder: Tiny little creatures who act like Santa's Christmas elves, but make their presents with Human Resources.
  • Verbal Tic: They have a tendency to either begin or end their words with "ome", and occasionally attach the letter "g" to the beginning of words.
    Dodoru: My g'name is Dodoru.

Walpurgis Night II

The Dawn Of Green - Doubt

Dawn Of Green - Doubt

The Green Dawn Ordeal make their return, showing up in a Walpurgis Night-exclusive gamemode where you must defeat a set number of enemies in a set number of turns. They attack with Lust and Wrath skills.
  • Logical Weakness: Magic Bullet Outis is the most equipped to deal with them, with all of her skills being able to exploit their weakness to Blunt and Pierce damage, as well as their weakness to Wrath and Pride damage, Magic Bullet Fire in particular being able to take multiple out in one shot with enough Magic Bullet stacks.

Intervallo IV: Yield My Flesh to Claim Their Bones

    Kurokumo Clan

Kurokumo Clan

Returning from Library of Ruina they are a Yakuza-like Syndicate and a subsidiary to the Thumb. The Sinners intervene in their dispute against their rivals, the Blade Lineage.

To learn more about them, see here.

Canto VI: The Heartbreaking

     T Corp. Gangsters

T Corp . Gangsters

Random thugs roaming the alleys of District 20's Nest. The Sinners notice a group of them mugging a civilian for his time, and intervene.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: They're on the wrong end of this from the Sinners.
  • Joke Character: They're only level 20 in a Canto where the expected limit is 45. Naturally, the two chapters you fight them in are extremely easy.
  • Plot-Irrelevant Villain: They're just random muggers that the Sinners decide to thwart on the way to Wuthering Heights, with their only role being revealing to Heathcliff that the Dead Rabbits gang has been wiped out.
  • The Worf Effect: They get wiped out effortlessly to demonstrate how much stronger the Sinners have gotten since the beginning of the game.

     Dead Rabbits

Dead Rabbits

The Syndicate that Heathcliff used to be a part of, prior to his leaving Wuthering Heights. In the modern day, they've become a subsidiary of the Ring, and have updated their look accordingly.
  • Ambiguously Human: The Dead Rabbits that appear after everyone is randomly sent around the manor have sin-based vulnerabilities like Abnormalities and Peccatulum, rather than damage type vulnerabilities like humans, and don't speak at all. In addition, their skills have names that seem to be stuttered and halting, similar to the Pallidified Things.
  • Dead All Along: Heathcliff is shocked to learn that the original Dead Rabbit gang he was a part of was supposedly wiped out years ago, leaving it a mystery as to who or what exactly the current Dead Rabbits are.
  • Fantasy Counterpart Culture: To the real life gang of the same name, who were a particularly prominent Irish-American gang in New York during the mid 19th century.
  • Malevolent Masked Men: Their updated look, changed at the behest of the Ring. Each member wears a rabbit mask that completely covers their head, with the only thing showing out of their heads being their eyes.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Heathcliff in particular is shocked that the Dead Rabbits aren't carrying pocket watches, which is pretty much a requirement for everybody living in T Corp's Nest since said watches double as both a means of identification as well as tracking how much "time" they have left.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: It's noted that their eyes glow red under their masks.
  • The Reveal: After killing some Dead Rabbits in self defense, the Sinners remove their masks and are shocked to find that they are regular civilians who don't look like they would belong to a Syndicate at all. Furthermore, the original Dead Rabbits gang was wiped out years ago, and these new "Dead Rabbits" are somehow linked to the disappearances near Wuthering Heights..

     Butlers

Butlers

Fixers contracted to a specific manor or family, they serve as housekeepers, cooks, assistants, and security all in one.
  • Amazon Brigade: Wuthering Hieghts Butlers consist of only women. Averted in the case of Edgar Family Butlers, however.
  • Barefisted Monk: Butlers contracted to Wuthering Heights primarily fight with their fists.
  • Battle Butler: Cleaners, cooks, and general aides, they may be, but they're also often high-ranking Fixers dedicated to ensuring the sanctity and security of the house they're sworn to.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Wuthering Heights Butlers incorporate serviettes in their attacks. The female Butlers working under the Edgar Family use brooms in their repertoire.
  • The Jeeves: Their job. Butlers are expected to provide nothing less than perfection to their masters, and anything less is considered a shame.
  • Magically-Binding Contract: For some Butlers, particularly those contracted to estates rather than individuals, their contractual obligations usually pass on to their descendants. However, some families of Butlers have been serving their estate for so long, the exact details of the original contract have been completely forgotten, meaning they have no idea what to do to release themselves from its terms. They also can't just simply quit their positions, otherwise one of the many organizations that enforces contractual obligations will surely arrive to punish them.
  • Maid Corps: There's enough Butlers for Wuthering Heights and the Edgar Family to serve as their personal armies.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Edgar Family Butlers' usage of knives, particularly when the female variants resort using Flechette Storms, is reminiscent of Sakuya Izayoi.
    • The female variant of the Veteran Edgar Butlers bears a striking resemblance to Roberta.
  • Undying Loyalty: Naturally, they're unflinchingly loyal to their masters, even after death.

     Researchers of the Ring

Researchers of the Ring

A group of researchers that originally disguised themselves as members of the Oufi Association there to execute Catherine's last will and testament, their true purpose is far more sinister, using the basement beneath Wuthering Heights as a laboratory to experiment with the Golden Bough, the Mirror, and Peccatulum.
  • Ambiguous Situation: According to the leader of the researchers, they're no longer active members of the Ring, though his head is taken off by Heathcliff before he can say more. Given that Aseah's prior work with the Ring was a result of him being kidnapped away from N Corp and that Yi Sang recognized the experiments beneath the manor using his work, it's possible they were dragged into the employ of the Wing.
  • Covert Group with Mundane Front: Played with. While Associations Fixers are by no means a mundane front, it's much less eyebrow-raising than being members of a Finger.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: The Ring's ambiguous past with Ryoshu is reflected in their Skills sharing or having similar names to her base Identity's skills.
  • Impersonation-Exclusive Character: Those who thought they'll get to know more of the Oufi Association in Canto VI are out of luck for now - as these ones aren't real members, merely former members of the Ring impersonating them.
  • Mad Artist: Naturally, being (former) members of the Ring. Alongside their aforementioned shared skill names with Ryoshu's base Identity, they also use spear-like brushes and are said to follow the Ring's Pointillism movement.

    Wild Hunt

Wild Hunt

An endless army consisting of the undead corpses of every dead Josephine, Hindley, and Linton in every Mirror World, led by Mirror Heathcliff.
  • Degraded Boss: While the reanimated versions of Josephine, Hindley, and Linton (both distorted and non-distorted forms) all retain many of their boss-level passives, they also have much less health and resistances. Which is good, because you'll be fighting multiples of them at the same time for the rest of Canto VI after the Wild Hunt is unleashed.
  • Night of the Living Mooks: They consist of the reanimated corpses of every dead Josephine, Hindley, and Linton across all of the Mirror Worlds.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: A trait shared by every member of the Wild Hunt baring Mirror Heathcliff.
