    Harry Potter and his Pokémon

Harry Potter

The son of James and Lily Potter, Harry was raised on the Pokémon-hating island of Little Surrey until he was 11 years old. Adopted by Remus and later Sirius. Harry is the Heir of Salazar Slytherin and one of the last Scions of The House of AZ and as such he has been targeted by the Spiritomb Voldemort to be his new body. Harry is learning how to master of the Ancient Pokémon Arts so that he might defeat Voldemort. He currently has one Magnus Partner, Hedwig, and one Speaker Partner, Leafeon. After his right hand was cut off by Team Nocturne, Harry had it replaced by a cybernetic replacement. Lugia stated that Harry is destined to become the Master of the Deathly Hollows and defeat Voldemort
  • An Arm and a Leg: Greyback hacks one of his hands during Book 4's climax. Jack helps him to replace it with a special prosthetic.
  • Animorphism: He can merge with Hedwig to become a Noctowl.
  • The Chosen One: Prophesized to be the one that will stop Voldemort once and for all.
  • Guile Hero: Ticks several of its boxes. Best shown when he tricks Lucius Malfoy into accepting a trade of Dobby for Ron's Magikarp.
  • Handicapped Badass: Losing his hand has not stopped him from being a badass.
  • The Hero: He's the hero of the story.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: One of the things many people consider he stands out for. At least twice, people have looked at him and realized he has all the trappings of a Knight of Avalon.
  • Super-Senses: Upon having the Long Talk with Leafeon, his hearing improves quite sharply.

Leafeon "Leon" Charles Potter (Eevee/Leafeon)

Harry's starter, Leafeon is the son of Voldemort's Espeon. He's the first Pokémon Harry has the Long Talk with.
  • Bond Creature: In Book 5, Harry has the Long Talk with Leafeon.
  • 11th-Hour Superpower: He evolves to Leafeon during the Team Nocturne attack at the beginning of Book 4.

Ludwig (Litwick/Lampent/Chandelure)

A gift from Severus Snape, Ludwig is the child of Snape and Lily's Chandelures and possesses the Invisibility Ability. A neat freak and a bit of a mother hen, Ludwig is obsessed with cleaning and watching out for the younger members of the team, including Togepi.
  • Team Mom: Tends to take care of all his fellow Pokémon, particularly Togepi.

Bulma (Togepi/Togetic/Togekiss)

An orphaned Togepi whose parents Voldemort killed, Harry caught her after feeling a bond between the two of them. In her youth she was prone to calling herself the Dark Queen of All and those around her peons (save for Harry, the Provider of Hugs).
  • Cuddle Bug: Especially right after her parents are killed. It leads her to name Harry as "the Provider of Hugs".
  • 11th-Hour Superpower: She evolves from Togepi to Togetic just in time for the Honor Duel between Neville and Harry on one side and Cho Chang and Marietta Edgecombe on the other.
  • Fluffy Tamer: If she asks Zygarde to do something, he will likely follow. She also likes to sit on his head.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Until Harry manages to fight Quirrell off.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Plays this to the max, even after she evolves.

Dobby (Kadabra/Alakazam)

Originally belonging to a trainer who died in the first Civil War, Dobby was claimed by the Malfoys and used as a servant. Harry tricked Lucius into trading Ron's Magikarp for Dobby and now he serves Harry as a valet of sorts.

The Beast of Slytherin (Zygarde 50% Form)

A legendary owned by Salazar Slytherin Sr., Zygarde was tasked with protecting Hogwarts from threats but was forced to do Voldemort's bidding when he managed to gain control of him. Harry was able to defeat and capture him and is now training so he might be able to use him properly.

Hedwig (Hoothoot/Noctowl)

A Avalon Form Hoothoot Harry caught with Remus, Hedwig is Harry's Magnus partner and the two can merge into a Noctowl. Hedwig tends to be snarky but is a loyal battler.
  • Bond Creature: Is Harry's Pokemagnus partner, becoming a Noctowl after a Fusion Dance with him. After the events in the Department of Mysteries, with Hedwig now being a Noctowl, they can Fusion Dance into a Mega Noctowl

Firebolt (Cyndaquil/Quilava/Typlosion)

One of the Potter Family's Exclusive Pokémon, Sirius gave Harry Firebolt as a gift on his third Winter Solstice at Hogwarts. Has a rivalry with Orion.

Orion (Piplup/Prinplup/Empoleon)

One of the Black Family's Exclusive Pokémon Harry received Orion when Sirius officially named him his heir. Orion is named after Sirius' father, the only member of the Black Family to respect Sirius' choices in life. Has a rivalry with Firebolt.

Vegeta (Kommo-O)

A Dragon/Fighting type that Harry caught during his training in the Whirl Islands. Desires to fight a powerful foe to help him remember the thrill of a real fight. While Harry does not want to name Kommo-O Vegeta, Jack and all of Harry's Pokémon think this is the perfect name.

Sid (Toxtricity)

A Pokemon belonging originally to a Nocturne Elite Agent, Harry was forced to use a Capture Ball, which overrides another trainer's Pokeball, in order to stop him. At first fearing Sid would hate him the punk rocker informs Harry that he never liked Nocturne and if Harry is going to go on wild adventures he's more than happy to be part of his team.
  • Dirty Talk: Always refers to Harry as a 'little slut' or 'filthy whore' in a pleased tone, much to Harry's embarassement.

    Ron Weasley and his Pokémon

Ron Weasley

Harry's first friend and the son of Normal Gym Leader Arthur, Ron is a loyal but somewhat lazy trainer, who tries hard to take good care of his Pokémon. He makes up for this by being a prodigy Pokéball maker.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: He's quite smart, and pretty much The Engineer in Harry's group, but there are several times in which he just coasts by.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Is extremely, naturally talented with Pokéball crafting, but isn't very good at explaining just how he crafted them, much to Hermione's frustration.

Scabbers (Raticate)

Ron's original starter. Tended to be lazy and disobedient. Revealed in Book 3 to be Regulus Black in his Pokémagnus form.
  • The Dog Was the Mastermind: He's actually Regulus Black in his Pokémagnus form, being the one who led Voldemort to the Potters, killing Peter Pettigrew and getting Sirius sent to Azkaban.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Kills Neville Longbottom and threatens to kill Ron in the climax of Book 3. It doesn't stick though due to Celebi turning back time to make sure this doesn't happen.

Cubchoo/Beartic

Captured in the Ice Caverns. Due to Ron's poor relationship with Scabbers, he could probably be considered Ron's true starter; the two are even very alike and have a great bond.

Magikarp/Gyarados

Caught on the Forbidden Island, Ron attempted to train Magikarp only to find out that it had Everstones embedded in his body. This caused Magikarp to be suicidal, as it knew it would never grow up to be strong. When traded to the Malfoys, Magikarp used his rage to break through the stones' effect, evolved, and later found Luna in Johto, saving her, Ron, Neville, Clair, and Remus from Team Nocturne. Ron happily recaptured Gyarados and the two are now on great terms.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason Gyarados is so loyal to Ron is that he always took good care of Magikarp, even after he knew he couldn't evolve.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Twice - the first when he finds Luna in Johto, the next when he comes to the aid of the Champions during the third task.
  • Chain of Deals: After Ron accidentally trades him to Harry instead of Cubchoo, Harry tricks Lucius Malfoy into receiving Magikarp instead of Zygarde. Being mistreated by the Malfoys after Ron took care of him, even though he would most likely never evolve, lets him evolve, eventually leading to his first Big Damn Heroes moment.
  • Driven to Suicide: In his Magikarp form, he has a Running Gag of trying to killing himself, because of the Everstones embedded in his body.
  • Undying Loyalty: After getting away from the Malfoys, he traveled the world, trying to look for Ron so he can join him again.

Emolga

A Pokémon Ron has wanted since he was a child, he traded his Magikarp for Harry's Emolga.
  • Chain of Deals: Part of a small, but important one, as the whole thing netted Dobby for Harry, both Emolga and Magikarp evolving into Gyarados for Ron, and a manor demolished from Gyarados's rage for the Malfoys.
  • Shock and Awe

Pigwidgeon (Tepig/Emboar)

A gift from Sirius for helping Harry over the last three school years.

  • Green Thumb: As the heir to the Longbottom Gym, his team is all Grass type (with one slight exception).
  • Mythology Gag: Is very skilled in Professor Sprout's class, despite being clumsy and accident-prone in Professor Snape's. However, it's Pokémon Tracking instead of Herbology.

  • For Want Of A Nail: Despite being part of Harry's group of friends, Ginny will not marry Harry in the future, as Jasmine is his love interest instead.

Luna apparently posses powers that other Veelas do not, such as teleportation.

Mooney (Zorua)

Remus' starter and Magnus partner. Together they can fuse into a powerful Zoroark. Has a Hidden Ability known as Mind Games that lets him disguise himself as a person or Pokémon's worst fear.

Magcargo

Remus' Gryffindor Pokémon. Seems to not be used quite as much as Mooney and Reuniclus, as catching Magcargo was more for following tradition than meeting a new partner.

Reuniclus

One of Remus' Pokémon who is his main mode of teleportation.

Spinarak

A Pokémon Remus caught in an outing to northern Avalon between year 2 and 3. Has a smiley face on his back instead of a Spinarak's normal frown.

Her tearful demand to Jack that he make Kanto "hurt" led to Jack declaring war on Kanto, an act that she has come to regret seeing how the war has weighed on her father's soul. • Happily Adopted: By Jack and Clair. Jasmine has stated that she sees the two as her real parents and loves the life she now leads, stating she is their daughter in everything but blood.
  • Modest Royalty: Somewhat. Her nickname is the Princess of Johto and she can be cocky. But via her bloodline she is also heir to the Crown of AZ but, like her father, refuses the call.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Has come to feel that her childish demand of her adopted father to make Kanto "hurt" for killing her birth parents is the reason why the Johto/Kanto War occurred. Seeing how said war damaged her father mentally and spiritually has broken her heart and caused her to swear to always be there for Jack in his darkest moments.
    • In Book 5, Chapter 41, the aftermath of the attack on Jack causes her to decide to give the Nocturne Agents a taste of their own medicine. So she kills Narcissa Malfoy and fakes her suicide. In the aftermath, she's shaken and terrified of herself for doing it.

Jack found the hideout and for the first time revealed just how violent he was to her... and after the fact broke down sobbing, begging for her forgiveness, fearful she would hate him for what happened. Jack declared war on Kanto and in 1985 traveled to the Whirl Islands to find the legendary Pokémon Lugia, hoping to capture him. Instead Lugia taught Jack the Art of Speaking, making him the Modern Master and in 1987 he returned to Johto and led the Invasion of Kanto; this led to Johto winning the Johto/Kanto War. Afterwards Jack rejected calls for him to declare himself king and instead took the title of Father of Johto and Headmaster of Olivine Point. In 1994 Jack met Harry at the Gauntlet World Cup and in 1995 agreed to train Harry to defeat Voldemort. Jack is one of the descendants of AZ and it is believed by Lugia that Jack is destined to take the Crown of AZ and reforge the royal bloodline.
  • Covered with Scars: While his face looks rather nice and normal whenever he removes his shirt people see that his torso is covered in scars.
  • Modest Royalty: And how. Jack is descended from the Line of AZ and the last kings of the Pokémon world. Johto has several times tried to declare him King. There is even a prophecy that he is destined to be king. Jack refuses because he fought to save Johto from tyranny and fears he would become a tyrant if given that power.
  • Sexual Karma: Jack openly namedrops this trope, stating that Voldemort is evil because he needs to get laid and telling Harry that Jack and Clair have a very active sex life.

  • These Hands Have Killed: Jack is rather blood thirsty, has the highest bodycount in the fanfic and has no problem killing his enemies.
