Go To

Coinin Sidhe

  • Fantastic Racism: Coinin Sidhe are very resentful toward the Cait Sith, as they feel that it's because of the cat fae that the Coinin Sidhe were not chosen to receive Titania's blessing.
  • Little Bit Beastly: As one of the predecessor races to the Cait Sith, Coinin Sidhe have some animal traits. In this case, they are rabbit faeries.

Cu Sidhe

  • Little Bit Beastly: Much like the Cait Sith, the Cu Sidhe are part-animal - in this case, part dog.
  • Might Makes Right: Cu Sidhe live by this methodology.
  • Not Quite Back to Normal: When a Cu Sidhe uses its racial Beast Transformation skill, they retain some of their enhanced strength upon reverting to their natural state, and this stacks with repeated use. This would be a good thing, if their minds didn't degrade closer and closer to a feral state with each use.

Djinn

Small, shapeshifting Mobs that dwell in the desert and caverns surrounding the Salamander territory.
  • Expy: These djinn have more in common with the djinn of Golden Sun fame rather than the ones from Islamic lore.
  • Fusion Dance: Djinn can merge into one another, resulting in a stronger Djinni. When more of them come together, their fused forms change into various Field Bosses of the Desert Zone. Get even more of them together, and you get Solomon. The Djinn then split apart again once there is no further need driving them to stay united.
  • Magikarp Power: A single Djinni is a tiny mob that can fit into your palm, has relatively weak attack spells and dies easily to anything. Get enough of them together though, and they form Solomon, one of the (nigh)unbeatable Border Guard Bosses.
  • Mental Fusion: When Djinni fuse together, each Djinni that joins the union adds to the collective intelligence of the resulting united being, until approximately a couple dozen have joined, at which point their collective mind reaches human-level intellect. After this point, each additional member may add additional memories and power, but each one will give very minimal gain to the collective's aggregate intelligence. Any Djinni that splits off retains the shared information of the collective, but it is likely to be too simple-minded and/or flighty to do much with it. This can be used to share information between Djinn when one lacks either the eloquence or the time to explain something in words. Simply merge with your conversation partner, then split apart, resulting in both Djinn knowing what only one previously knew.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Djinni speech is depicted in this manner, due to the way they emphasize each individual word. This trait vanishes by the time enough of them have fused together to form Solomon.
  • Ugly Cute: They might lose in a beauty contest against an Evil Beast God, but as Asuna declared: “You're adorable!”
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Djinn can shapeshift fairly freely - the one that accompanied Balandene and Asuna was seen turning between its natural form and that of a flying serpent. Other forms that have been taken by a Djinni included a phoenix and a fish.

Feathered Dragon

Pina

(See Halkegenia Online Familiars)

Schwartz

The black-plumed Feathered Dragon that was used as Sayuri's mount during her reign as head of the Pixie Garden near Tarbes.

Kerberus

The Arch Guardian

One of the Border Guardians, who existed as living blockades to prevent access to incomplete regions of ALfheim.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Kerberus was mind-controlled by Julio to keep intruders from interfering with Louise's attempt to bind Yggdrasil, and was killed by Kirito in the process of carrying out said duty.
  • Beat Still, My Heart: Kirito manages to crush Kerberus' heart. Too bad Kerberus has more than one.
  • Born-Again Immortality: [spoiler:Word of God says that Bishop has respawned Kerberus as a puppy, and is raising him.]]
  • Breath Weapon: Each head has a specialty such as fire or poison.
  • Multiple Head Case: The three actually four heads work with flawlessly precision. By rotating like a gun brigade, they could pin down a square mage by denying them the time to counter. Likewise, blinding only one of them is pointless.

Lhamthanc

The Steel-Toothed

A Field Boss that served as Sayuri's weapon against the "Beings" in the Tarbes Garden arc of Halkegenia Online v1.0.

Lily Wing Fish

Eel-like aquatic mobs with dragonfly-esque wings. Many Lily Wing Fish serve as loyal minions of Octavia.

Mutant Frog

Large, three-eyed frog mobs. Many of these mobs serve Octavia.

Nyriad

A race of amphibious, humanoid-type Mobs, normally found in the Undine-associated regions. Many of them seem to have taken to living in and around Ragdorian Lake.

Ianth

A specific Nyriad woman, known even from before the Transition for offering a Quest to find her missing husband.

Octavia

The Abyssal Queen

A gigantic mermaid mob that serves as one of the Border Guardians of ALO, tasked to block players from swimming/flying to the edge of the modeled game world or into regions of unfinished game coding. Post-Transition, Octavia has been lurking the waters of Tristain, including Ragdorian Lake.
  • Achilles' Heel: All of her powers reside in the Abyssal Tiara, which is transformed into the center pearl of her crown. Extract it, and she gradually devolves into a pixie sized mermaid with no power at all. Mind you, reaching said weak point is easier said than done, and taking advantage of it is even harder than that.
  • An Ice Person: Among Octavia's repertoire of magic are powerful ice spells.
  • Bizarre Alien Senses: Octavia seems to be able to sense surroundings through both air and water using echolocation, or "Sound Sight", as she refers to it in her narration. She can also sense electricity, much like sharks can. She refers to the sensations she picks up from this as "Life Flickers".
  • Broken Pedestal: The effect of Sugou's meddling with ALfheim's lore, and the reason she went crazy over Asuna.
  • Field Power Effect: Word of God says that Octavia's base stats while wearing the Abyssal Tiara are only moderately higher than a top-tier Fae. However, she then receives immense stat buffs in proportion to how much water there is in her surroundings. Given that Octavia rarely goes anywhere with less water than a lake, her stats are pretty much constantly buffed to overwhelming levels.
  • Making a Splash: Octavia can spew out water under high pressure with her Hydrocutter attack.
  • Palette Swap: Octavia's imitation of Titania's - that is to say, Asuna's - appearance matches the shape just about perfectly, but has overly pale skin and both blue eyes and hair. As such, when Kirito first gets a good look at her, he initially mistakes her for an Undine LARPer.
  • Parental Abandonment: In the game lore, especially before Sugou's retcons, she is portrayed as a favored pet, almost a child of Queen Titania. Her memories of Titana are essentially a jumbled, contradictory mix of pre and post retcon lore which she has interprated as Titania abandoning her for Oberon.
  • Rapid Aging: Her humanoid form disintegrates in this way when she runs out of mana after being separated from the Abyssal Tiara.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Octavia's face is usually hidden behind her helmet, but when it's removed, one can see that this is the colour of her eyes. Fitting for one as devastatingly dangerous as a Border Boss.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Octavia's true form is that of a pixie-sized fish girl.
  • Seashell Bra: Octavia wears one when imitating Titania's form. Kirito found it a bit unpleasant to be embraced by someone wearing one, and upon actually seeing it, assumed it was some sort of fetish gear.
  • Shapeshifting Seducer: Octavia, upon seeing that "Titania" has a new beau, imitates her appearance to try and seduce Kirito. The attempt fails, mostly due to being unaware that Asuna would not have been in the mindset for lovemaking at the time, which causes Kirito to catch on that the lady embracing him is not Asuna.
  • Shock and Awe: Like an electric eel, Octavia can produce electric discharges from her body to drive off enemies who attempt to grapple her. On top of that, she has a powerful spell that fires a stream of lightning as one of her trump cards.
  • Shout-Out: Her name likely a reference to Oktavia Von Seckendorff, the name of the mermaid-like Witch that Sayaka turns into in Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: When Octavia opens her fight against Asuna, she conjures a spear made of whale bone out of nowhere. She's later shown to be able to conjure replacement ones if she should be disarmed.
  • Strong, but Unskilled: Octavia relies on overwhelming might from her buffs, combined with her size advantage to sweep through her foes (usually Fae). Against someone of similar strength and size, however, Octavia's fighting style proves to be relatively clumsy as she's forced to adapt to a combat situation she's never been put into before.
  • Transformation Horror: When the Abyssal Tiara is removed from her head, Octavia starts convulsing, her skin tightens, her ribs and bones bulge out, and she finally leaves behind only her humanoid form, and a giant mermaid skeleton that quickly turns to dust. After that, her human form ages rapidly, water pouring out of her like blood, and then her dry skin flakes off in the breeze, leaving behind a discarded pile of clothing and Octavia's weakest form, a pixie-sized mermaid.
  • Transformation Trinket: The Abyssal Tiara.

Pixie

(See Halkegenia Online Pixies)

Sea Slug

Giant, pinkish aquatic mobs. A large number of Sea Slugs are among the mobs that serve Octavia.
  • Combat Tentacles: According to Klein, a Sea Slug can pull hard enough with its tentacles to rip limbs off.

Sionnach Sidhe

  • Bandit Mook: They are mobs that are known for their Sticky Fingers. One apparently tried and failed to pull this on Kirito - though Kirito had mistaken the culprit for a Cait Sith at the time.
  • Little Bit Beastly: One of the predecessors to the Cait Sith, the Sionnach Sidhe also have animal traits. The Sionnach Sidhe are fox faeries.

Brenhen

Prince of the Sionnach Sidhe.

Solomon

Solomon the Elemental Lord, Master of Seventy Two Daemons, Tome of One Million Tomes, Solomon the Guide, Lord of the Djinn of the Sand Sea

One of the Guardian Bosses of ALfheim, Solomon is the ultimate manifestation produced by the fusion of at least twelve Djinn. (The current incarnation being made up of a whooping 2,427 djinn.) He has the appearance of an old and wise king, wearing The Ring of Solomon and garbed in a long robe. He is also the only sapient mob to understand Alfhiem's true nature. Most likely because his own alien mindset means that the idea of not being "real" doesn't really bother him.
  • Achilles' Heel: The power of his ring is what binds together his component djinn, but its power can only remain active for a short period of time. Once it fades, or his ring is somehow removed or destroyed, he loses control over the djinn and dissolves as they break free. He can stave this off through willpower and bargaining, but only for a time.
  • Cool Old Guy: Although formally only half a year old, he has the knowledge and wisdom of millennia, and manners to match.
  • Genius Bruiser: Amuses himself by calculating orbital mechanics that could lead to Halkegenia acquiring the second moon.
  • Humanoid Abomination:His own mindset is so fundamentally alien, that he has no problem with the idea that his memories are fake and that he and his world were nothing more than a game until a few months ago.
  • Medium Awareness: Is fully aware that ALfheim was previously just a game, and yet is totally OK with it. Most likely due to the fact that his own makeshift nature as an aggregate being means that he is not quite as attached to his own sense of identity as most beings.
  • Only Mostly Dead: Solomon comes back every time enough Djinn are united by a common purpose, having all of the memories of his previous incarnation.
  • Rapid Aging: After he casts a targeted dispel on himself.
  • Transformation Trinket: The Ring of Solomon.

Sword Crab

Huge crustacean mobs. A single Sword Crab is roughly the size of a small car.
  • Bubble Gun: Sword Crabs can spew a barrage of bubbles as a defensive measure. While it looks like little more than a distraction at first, Argo reveals that if popped, said bubbles burst into an intense fire.
  • Giant Enemy Crab: There is no better definition for this mob than this.
  • Poison Is Corrosive: Sword Crabs have a <Poison Spit> attack. When one shot missed Klein, it audibly sizzled as it ate into the sand.
  • Power Pincers: Being a crab mob, a Sword Crab has a single, large claw. Worse, the outside of the claw has a bladed edge on one side, and a club-like surface on the other. With this, a Sword Crab and bludgeon, crush, or cut as it chooses.

Venus Man Eater

A giant carnivorous flower Field Boss encountered by Princess Henrietta and Eugene in the second chapter of the story. It is as tall as a church tower, its stem is surrounded by long vines, and it has a mouth full of teeth that can extend from the center of its petals.

Water Dragon

Aquatic dragon mobs. They have fins and short tentacles in place of the wings and legs commonly seen on other types of dragons. Many Water Dragons are in service of Octavia.
  • An Ice Person: Water Dragons have access to ice spells.
  • Making a Splash: Water Dragons can spew out high-pressure Hydrocutters to attempt to cut through their enemies.
