Original characters

    Verbalase
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1593710051238_3.png
  • Butt-Monkey: Verbalase is often subjected to abuse by many of the contestants, especially the villains.
  • Red Is Heroic: His main color scheme is red and is the main protagonist of Cartoon Beatbox.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Initially, he was shown as somewhat of a jerk in the first few episodes and was even chuckling at some of the disses more often than not. However, he's become more kind and open-minded as the series has gone on, acting more as an Only Sane Man.

Contestants

    Spongebob
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spongebob_with_spatula.png
First Round: Mickey Mouse vs SpongeBob Squarepants
Status: Round 2 Loser
One of the two original competitors in Cartoon Beatbox Battles alongside Mickey Mouse, the first winner in the series, and the sponge from Nickelodeon's hit television series, SpongeBob SquarePants. He won against Mickey Mouse, but unfortunately for the sponge, lost against Deadpool. SpongeBob stands at 4'1 and weighs in at 35lbs. His expertise is frying up some Krabby Patties and his hobbies include jellyfishing or blowing some bubbles. His signature trait is his optimistic demeanor and occasional hot-blooded competitive-streak.
  • Badass Adorable: Yes, his very adorable exterior with his big ol' buckteeth and nerdy appearance seems rather childish. But when he needs to, he can beatbox with confidence.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's generally kind and polite outside of the battles, but when they begin, he's more than capable of dishing out disses and roasts.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Normally goofy and clumsy, Spongebob is competitive in the arena.
  • Butt-Monkey: Ever since his rather devastating loss against Deadpool, the series tends to make jabs at SpongeBob's downfall or refer to him as Patrick's "girlfriend/boyfriend".
  • Catchphrase: "I'm ready!"
    • Promotion seems to be SpongeBob's most used line.
  • Childish Tooth Gap: Right on his face.
  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: SpongeBob originally had headphones in his earlier appearances.
  • Demoted to Extra: A surprisingly positive example of this. Even after his loss, SpongeBob would still make appearances also regularly. Usually, most losers would make a cameo at best to a complete disappearance at worse.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Some of the interactions between Deadpool and SpongeBob are friendlier than most others. Deadpool seems to casually greet SpongeBob as a friend and outright stated that he watches SpongeBob's show, and unlike other competitors, who would make death threats, jokes about dead relatives, or simply have it out for each other, these two seem to just simply playfully fight. The prime motivation of the rivalry seems to be based on their cooking anyway.
  • Furry Reminder: SpongeBob is constantly mocked by Deadpool for being a sponge, most prominently, how he "poops" out of his pores.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Along with Goofy, he is the only character who isn't cartoonishly exaggerated. Also with Goofy, he already has two prominent teeth, so the series' tendency to draw most characters with two extra teeth doesn't apply to him.
  • Series Mascot: From being the first competitor introduced, to having the remix of his first beatbox as Verbalase's favorite, all to making several cameos throughout the series. Even putting all that aside, his beatbox solo is among the highest-rated beatbox, despite having lost to Deadpool. It's really saying something when he still makes brief appearances even after his loss, compared to other losers, who would usually fade away completely.

    Mickey Mouse
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mickey_mouse_full_pose.png
First Round: Mickey Mouse vs SpongeBob Squarepants
Status: Round 1 Loser
One of the two original competitors in Cartoon Beatbox Battles alongside SpongeBob, Disney's recognizable mascot, and arguably the most iconic cartoon character in the world. Sadly, he lost against SpongeBob, making him the first loser in the series. Mickey is the only character whose's height isn't explained. He is an arrogant mouse who can be rather cocky. As a star of many classic shorts, he has the tendency to brag about his several achievements.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Mickey is one of the few contestants who have not made a single cameo past their debut and, technically speaking (and ignoring the remastered version of his round with Spongebob), is the only one who has yet to appear in the modern designs.
  • Mic Drop: Does this at the end of his beatbox.
  • Mickey Mousing: The ironic Trope Namer.
  • Signature Laugh: Mickey retains his iconic chuckle.
  • Species Surname: Mickey's last name is Mouse.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Gets knocked out in his first appearance in the very first episode.

    Pikachu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pikachu_full_pose.png
  • Badass Adorable: Despite his small size, he's quite the beatboxer.
  • The Cameo: Makes a brief return in Deadpool Vs Deadshot.
  • Furry Confusion: For at least a few instances, contestants have used Pikachu as an insult.
  • Pokémon Speak: As a Pokémon, this is how he delivers his beatbox.

    Groot

    Pennywise
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pennywise_full_shot.png
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: While still a bit of a psycho, Pennywise is much more tame and civil around here.
  • Black Comedy: Engages in this at Groot's expense, mocking the deaths of his friends in Infinity War and then asking if that was "too soon?"
  • Monster Clown: It's not Pennywise without this trope and his being an Eldritch Abomination.

    Joker

    Patrick
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/patrick_transparent_shot.png
  • Ascended Extra: Patrick was originally an ordinary contestant but his popularity has given him the opportunity to compete in many rounds. Barring that, he makes several cameos throughout the entire series.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Despite being the dull-minded starfish he is, he has dissed and bested his combatants, two of which are supreme beings.
  • Big Eater: It's his skill.
  • Breakout Character: Patrick was seemingly just another contestant but, oh man. His votes skyrocketed, besting every other character he has faced. And it's not just that, he has made plenty of cameos in various episodes that have nothing to do with Patrick. Not to mention, having the most appearances out of all contestants. Oh, and the nail in the coffin? He is the winner of Cartoon Beatbox. You could very much argue that he is the main character of the series. Winning the first season, against another fan-favourite character Deadpool no less, helps with that.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Most of his combatants are powerhouses who are not to be messed with. But Patrick proves that it could very well be the other way around.
  • The Ditz: He can be simply described as "the buffoon contestant".
  • Exposed Animal Bellybutton: A trait that is certainly visible.
  • Fat Comic Relief: He's one of the goofier contestants and is quite pudgy.
  • The Fool: Despite his moronic demeanor contestants, Patrick managed to have the straightest highest win-streak and is eventually titled as the winner.
  • Genius Ditz: Patrick is a skilled rapper despite his low intelligence and is noted for how he can show a small sign of intelligence.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Patrick's outfit is just a pair of shorts.
  • Realistic Species, Cartoony Species: Patrick has actually gotten the longest streak out of all the cartoon characters, so his competition has prolonged into him facing characters with a much more human-like anatomy.
  • Mistaken for Gay: Patrick is always roasted for being in quote-unquote, a relationship with SpongeBob, so his constant mistakes of accidentally going along with it can either go with the characters actually thinking like this trope or even make out Patrick as Ambiguously Gay.
  • Toilet Humor: Several gags, be it either roasts or his own volition, involves this trope.

    Goofy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/goofy_pose.png

    Deadpool
  • Ax-Crazy: Beneath his jokey demeanor he is quick to pull the trigger on others when they annoy him.
  • Big Bad: Can be seen as this for the first season. He is one of the more vulgar competitors, is constantly trash-talking everybody relentlessly even outside of his solos, and ends up making to the finals before losing to Patrick.
  • Breakout Character: Alongside Patrick, he is popular enough to stay in the competition longer than many others, even beating SpongeBob, another well-received competitor. Although he doesn't win the first season, he still made it to the finals to square off with Patrick.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Wouldn't be Deadpool without this. He often tells tne viewers to vote for him during his rounds, which works in his favor until he is faced with Patrick in the final round.
  • Deus Exit Machina: Is convinced he won the first season by Verbalase even though Patrick is the true winner, so it's unlikely he'll appear again even as a cameo in season 2.
  • Toilet Humor: Makes these at SpongeBob's expense.

    Deadshot

    Mario
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mario_full_shot.png

    Sonic
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sonic_beatbox_solo_2.png
  • Adaptational Villainy: Though he may talk trash in his home series, here he talks smack about somebody's dead father repeatedly, which is a bit too far. It probably explains why he loses to Black Panther.
  • Anti-Hero: Despite being a hero, his disses against Black Panther are quite harsh, even for the standards of the competition.
  • Blue Is Heroic: A blue heroic hedgehog.
  • Conjoined Eyes: His eyes seem conjoined to make one massive eye that controls two pupils.
  • Golden Super Mode: Enters this during his first solo.
  • Kid Hero: He, along with Groot, is the youngest contestant in the series.
  • The Rival: Sonic and Mario were rivals even outside of the show, so this naturally carries over.
  • Super-Speed: A signature trait.

    Batman

    Black Panther

    Darkseid
  • The Comically Serious: Despite the inherent lighthearted nature of the series, he takes his solos extremely seriously, focusing far more on winning at any cost than enjoying himself.
  • Eye Beams: His Omega Beams.
  • A God Am I: "I was born a god, while you were born a flea!"
  • Playing with Fire: Being able to torch the arena and literally spit fire during your beatbox solos is nothing to scoff at.

    Thanos
  • Badass Fingersnap: Of course, courtesy of his Infinity Gauntlet. He never dusts anybody with it, though.
  • The Comically Serious: Despite the inherent lighthearted nature of the series, he takes his solos extremely seriously, focusing far more on winning at any cost than enjoying himself.
Verbalase: Man, Thanos. Why so serious?
    Thanos: I'm always serious.
  • Purple Is Powerful: One of the more powerful contestants on the show, and is purple. Unfortunately for him, strength doesn't mean much in a beatbox battle.
  • Teleport Spam: During his beatbox against Darkseid.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: His reaction to seeing Patrick as his second opponent.
