The following have their own pages:

Ace Attorney

  • Lana Skye's Parole
    • The evidences that Lana Skye and her team collect, such as the Misham’s involvement in the forged evidence, are what Phoenix will use in the MASON system for trial 4-4.
    • Magnifi Gramarye hired Quercus Alba to smuggle his blind and amnesiac daughter Thalassa out of the country and into Borginia.

Buffyverse

  • Bring Me to Life has a couple of examples:
    • In the Season 9 comics, Pearl and Nash were simply half-demons who were minions of Twilight. Here, they're old enemies of Angel and Spike, who fought them in Las Vegas in the 1950s.
    • In this fic, it's revealed that the First Evil was actually spawned from Jasmine at the dawn of time.

Crossover

  • The Amazing Spider-Luz in: Across the Owl-Verse!:
    • Eda and Lilith created the hidden room in the library that Amity uses in the present.
    • It's implied that Grometheus, or at least similar beings, were used by the Archivists against the Titans, given the carvings on the wall of its prison.
  • The Bridge (MLP): This happens on both sides of the crossover:
    • In the Equestrian side, the Rainbow Power, Elements of Harmony, Crystal Heart, Silver Crystal, Celestia and Luna, and human world Elements are all made by the Nexus of Light Magic, Harmony, given to mortals so they could defend themselves whereas they were unconnected in canon. Additionally Tirek, King Sombra, the Windigos, Queen Chrysalis, and Discord are all pupils or creations of the Nexus of Dark Magic, Grogar.
    • The Sirens are the the result of the Windigos forcing themselves on two mermare princesses.
    • In the Amalgam Universe the kaiju hail from, there is a lot of Canon Welding. For instance the unrelated UltraSeries series is tied in to Gigan's origin when Monster X fought Ultraman Belial and got the latter's Giga Nizer staff away from him. The Xilians and Nebulans reverse engineered the alloy and created the "Giga N." alloy used to create and then dub, Gigan.
  • The Chaotic Masters: When introduced at Roulette's auction of magical artifacts, it's revealed that the Magic Mirror was created by the Collector, as was Lumalee (apparently he thought the idea of a cheerfully nihilistic Luma was hilarious).
  • Defenders of the Universe (Steven Universe & Voltron: Legendary Defender & Sym-Bionic Titan):
    • The Gems and the Galra are familiar with each other due to having had a violent encounter back when Zarkon was still the Black paladin. The Diamond Authority is also aware of Voltron and his capabilities.
    • In the chapter, "Beginnings", it's implied that the Diamonds have similar origins to Voltron as they were born of similar "ores" to the meteorite that was used to create the Legendary Defender. Pink Diamond herself was brought into being by White Diamond using a portion of the exact same meteorite that was used to create the Voltron Lions.
  • The God of Destruction comes to Remnant: In canon, Raven Branwen and Adam Taurus don't interact with each other. Here, Raven was Adam's teacher in swordsmanship.
  • Harbinger (Finmonster) (Danny Phantom & ParaNorman): In canon, Mitch and Courtney meet for the first time. In this story, they are childhood friends.
  • Hero Academia D×D (High School D×D/My Hero Academia/Bungo Stray Dogs/Doctor Strange/Under Night In-Birth) As the Abilities from Bungo Stray Dogs have been reimagined as Sacred Gears, Yosano's Thou Shalt Not Die is the Flawed Prototype to Ibara's Twilight Healing.
  • Justice League of the Rebellion (Code Geass & The DCU):
    • Lelouch and Nunnally, the Batman and Oracle of this story respectively, were trained and raised by their adoptive parents Mister Miracle and Big Barda.
    • Just like Billy Batson, Kallen Kozuki is selected by the wizard to wield the power of Shazam. Unlike Billy, she was recommended to the Wizard by the Spectre, whose current host is her dead brother Naoto.
    • Prior to debuting as Superman, Rivalz was trained to control his Kryptonian powers by the Martian Manhunter.
    • The deaths of Khufu and Chay-ara that lead to their series of resurrection as Hawkman and Hawkwoman were caused when Vadar (who would become Vandal Savage) stabbed them with an Nth Metal Dagger.
    • The Knightmare technology of Britania was developed by Pat Dugan, who was captured and brainwashed by Savage and his men after the death of his partner Sylvester Pemberton.
  • The J-WITCH Series (Jackie Chan Adventures & W.I.T.C.H.): Whereas in canon the Tracker's origins were never explained, in this story it's revealed that Daolon Wong created him from the remains of Meridian's greatest hunters.
  • Kir-Ben 10: Poyo Force (Ben 10 & Kirby): Several elements of the two series connect to one another
    • Azmuth, when making Ascalon, based the design partially on Galaxia, as revealed by Nightmare.
    • Julie is revealed to be connected to the Jambastion religion somehow, being their high priestess.
    • Nightmare was also responsible for the Gourmands (Upchuck's race) needing to evacuate from Peptos III in an invasion attempt, sending them food laced with Pufferzine. Pufferzine was, indeed, meant for species with Hyperactive Metabolism like the aforementioned Gourmands and the Oryctini (Eatle's species).
    • Magolor and Marx held no association to each other, let alone to Nightmare, but here, they're rival servants of Nightmare.
  • Marvel Falls
    • Instead of Dipper, Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland make fun of Kamala/Ms Marvel after her claim that Toby Determined is Wax Stan's murder is proven false.
    • Also it's a wax Yon Rogg who leads the wax statues instead of wax Sherlock Holmes, and he too suffers the same fate of melting in the sunrise.
    • Blendin is an agent of the Time Variance Authority.
    • Mermano the merman knows of the Terrigen Crystals and the Inhumans.
  • Roller Brawl: The Mega Cyborg (Skylanders & Mega Man (Classic)): Several between varying elements of both series.
    • In Mega Man canon, Time Man and Flash Man are simply implied to be related via Flash Man being an improvement on Time Man, since Time Man was retconned in Mega Man Powered Up, years after the release of Flash Man's debut game of Mega Man 2. Here, they're outright confirmed to be related to one another, with Dr. Wily using Time Man's schematics to make Flash Man.
    • The Sky-Eater's origins are also altered. Rather than being made by Kaos alone, he had Dr. Wily plan the idea of the Sky-Eater before giving him large amounts of gold to fund his operations, essentially making him responsible for Roller Brawl needing to become a cyborg.
    • Dr. Wily also based Wood Man directly on the Life Skylander Stump Smash to the point that the two share the same voice in this fanfic.
  • Growth through Chaos: More characters are shown to know one another.
    • Smoker and Bellemere met years ago and the former considered the latter to be an inspiration to all marines on the East Blue, whereas canon had the two never even seem to know one another
    • Crocus and Gin also met one another during the latter's tenure under his old captain Don Krieg, and Crocus is happy to see Gin on a new crew away from the Big Bad Wannabe.
  • Spinel's New Best Friend: In chapter 14, it's revealed that there's an experimental Gem on Equuis that was sent there millenia ago. It's known as the Synthetic Onyx Military Biological Replicant Attacker, or S.O.M.B.R.A..
  • Spy X Son: The Red Ribbon Army was the organization that captured Anya as a child and forcefully gave her the power to read minds.

The DCU

  • New Tamaran:
    • Beast Boy's parents created the serum that gave their son his shapeshifting powers by studying Circe's magical staff.
    • Zauriel aided the priests of Azarath in neutralizing Trigon's mental influence over Raven by linking her mind to that of the purest human - Dick Grayson a.k.a. Robin.
    • Flash and Kid Flash discovered the speed force while studying Amazonian artifacts (namely, the Sandals of Hermes).
    • Bumblebee's great-grandfather created the original size-changing technology for Doll Man and the Atom. Bumblebee outdoes them by splicing the size-changing tech into her DNA.
    • Cheshire was initially recruited by Kobra, which also founded the Brotherhood of Evil, HIVE Academy, and the League of Assassins.
  • In Daughter of Fire and Steel, Doomsday was created by Zor-El while in canon he was Zod's reanimated corpse.

Fairy Tail

  • It Was Like a Little Light: Gildarts magic was destructive and out of control when he was a child, forcing Fairy Tail to leave him on Tenrou Island for his safety and for others. There, he meets a wizard that teaches him how to control his power... Black Wizard Zeref.

Fusion Fic

  • BlazBlue Alternative: Remnant (BlazBlue & RWBY):
    • Penny Polendina is a Murakumo Unit created by Relius Clover and Yuuki Terumi instead of by Pietro.
    • Glynda used to be a member of Sector Seven here and was also friends with Litchi and Roy. Not to mention she has a history with Kokonoe and Relius.
    • The Branwen tribe attacked Luna and Sena's village when they were children, which set them on the path that would lead to them gaining the Muchourin.

Godzilla / King Kong / MonsterVerse

  • Abraxas (Hrodvitnon): In Godzilla vs. Kong, Nathan Lind was only introduced to the Hollow Earth Aerial Vehicles after Apex Cybernetics finalized them. In Abraxas' official post-story timeline on the author's Tumblr, Nathan and his brother David before the latter's death are a direct part of the HEAVs' development.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

  • "Spider-Man: Finding Home" reveals that the White Tiger was originally the second of Wakanda's sacred guardians, but the amulet that imbued the guardians with power was corrupted at some point in the past and it became too dangerous for any to use it. After Kraven the Hunter tries to steal the amulet for himself, it is claimed by Yelena Belova, who is able to purify its power when she dons it solely to help Spider-Man, and is subsequently allowed to keep it.
  • The Sixes and Sevens story Headfirst Slide into Latveria on a Bad Bet puts the origins of Victor von Doom as a teenager in the middle of World War II, and shows him getting his start when he teams up with the Invaders to drive off HYDRA forces.

Mega Man

  • Mega Man: Defender of the Human Race does the "Duo and the Stardroids are enemies" thing as well. But in this story, the Evil Robot is one of the Stardroid's leaders with the name of Luna and the Stardroids are powered by Evil Energy. In another twist, Bass' power source of Bassnium is the Evil Energy used by Luna.

Power Rangers

  • Earning Trust: Kim rescues a young Dana while the latter and her father were visiting Angel Grove. That incident became one of the inspiration for Captain Mitchell to work on Operation: Lightspeed Rescue.
  • Always a Ranger- an AU of the confrontation with Thrax where he attacked the SPD B-Squad rather than the Operation Overdrive team- reveals that Dulcea was responsible for the creation of the Quasar Sabers. It is also revealed that Dulcea was part of a group that were essentially the ancient predecessors of the Power Rangers, whose members included Zordon, Dimitria, Ninjor and the Sentinel Knight.
  • Many of the zords in the post-Zordon Era, including Lightspeed Rescue, Ninja Storm, and presumably Operation Overdrive were produced by Hexagon in dudelove8's ranger series.

RWBY

  • The consistent mythology of Coeur Al'Aran's various RWBY AU fics provide several where Roman Torchwick is concerned:
    • In Roman's backstory, he was present at the fall of Mountain Glenn, and the trauma of the event marked the start of his turn to criminality and villainy, whereas there was no indication in canon that Roman had any connection to Mountain Glenn before setting up shop there for the Breach.
    • Speaking of Roman, he and Bartholomew Oobleck, whom were never seen interacting in any way in canon, were on the same team during their huntsman academy days.
    • Roman is also the one responsible for forging Jaune's transcripts which get him accepted into Beacon.
  • Fixing RWBY:
    • Multiple-fold with Ozpin's original host from Volumes 1-3. In canon, neither Hazel Rainart nor Ozpin's next host Oscar Pines have any direct relation to the host, and the host's backstory before Ozpin possessed him and merged his soul is unknown. In this version, Hazel's reasons for joining Salem's side and perceiving her as the lesser of two evils comparative to Ozpin are because the Volume 1-3 host was originally Hazel's brother Magnus, and Ozpin possessing him and then abandoning his family traumatized Hazel. The Volume 6 rewrite briefly shows a younger Ozpin-possessed Magnus walking out on Hazel and their younger relative Oscar (whose status in the present has yet to be revealed but isn't looking good) when the latter was apparently very ill.
    • Unlike his canon backstory where he was a street urchin in Mistral who had no connection with Brunswick Farms, Roman Torchwick's Start of Darkness in this version is eventually revealed to be directly connected to the fall of Brunswick Farms to the Apathy.
  • Ruby and Nora: The Branwen Tribe are the reason Ren and Nora are orphans.

Spider-Man

  • The Legendary Spider Man: Several of the supervillains have a connection with Kingpin in this story. These include Vulture, Shocker, Sandman, Chameleon and Kraven all get their first crack at Peter on Fisk's behalf.

Static Shock

  • Jimmy's Visit With Dr. Franklin: Ebon and Jimmy don't seem to know each other in canon but here Ebon is the reason why Jimmy committed the shooting in the first place.

Total Drama

  • From CIT to All Star: Fang is revealed here to have previously been Courtney's "animal buddy" from the aforementioned challenge in Action before his mutation into the Scott-hunting Land Shark from Revenge of the Island.
  • In Monster Chronicles Cody, Duncan and Tyler's pasts are all connected through the blood spilled by Cedric. Cody was tricked into letting Cedric possess him as a child, Duncan went to juvie with him, and Tyler's mother and unborn sister were killed by Cedric.

Transformers

Unsorted/Dormant/Dead

  • In Universe Falls, several of the supernatural phenomena encountered by Dipper, Mabel, and Steven are given origins that connect them to the Gems:
    • The wax figures from "Headhunters" are animated by the Gem shards from "Frybo".
    • In "Li'l Gideon", Gideon's telekinetic amulet is a Gem weapon he somehow stole from the Gems.
    • In "Measure Up" the size-altering crystals from "Little Dipper" are discarded Gem technology.
    • "Dipper and Lapis" has an appearance by the Geodites from Gravity Falls: Journal 3, which here are Gem monsters, complete with a "Mother Geodite" much like Centipeedle.
    • In "Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons", the electrified gauntlets Ford uses against an escaped monster were apparently inspired by Garnet's gauntlets.
  • In Neither a Bird nor a Plane, it's Deku!, the Eight Precepts of Death are a faction within the Hasigawa family, a yakuza group that included Eiko Hasigawa, the third Catwoman in the Post-Crisis continuity.
  • Son of the Sannin:
    • In canon, the Hyuga Affair ended up pretty much an Aborted Arc, its only purpose being setting up Neji's hatred of the Hyuga Clan's main family and never explored any further. In this story, however, the mastermind behind the incident is none other than Toneri Otsutsuki and it comes into play again during Part II as a major overarching plot for Hinata.
    • Yakumo Kurama was an anime-only character who used to be Kurenai's student, until her genjutsu abilities became too dangerous to control and were forcibly sealed. Here, she was presumed dead in a fire along with her parents, an event orchestrated by Danzo to take her and be used as one of his Root puppet agents.
  • In the American McGee's Alice/Rise of the Guardians/BioShock Fusion Fic, WonderShock, Bumby is responsible for supplying Tenenbaum with the children needed to create the Little Sisters and Suchong with the materials needed to create the ADAM vaccine. This also makes him responsible for Jack's immunity to the negative effects of Plasmids.
  • Starfire was originally one of Darkseid's slaves in The Virtue of Revenge where as in the comics and show, she had no connection to the New Gods and Apokalips in any capacity.
  • Jimmy Two-Shoes the Movie: Misery Loves Company: In the series proper, Heloise was implied to be a natural resident of Miseryville rather than a Fish out of Water like Jimmy. Here however, it is revealed that Jimmy and Heloise both knew each other before they came to Miseryville, but have simply lost their memories of that time.
  • In Yin-Yang, Adora was sent to Etheria by Skeletor as an act of spite towards her father, rather than being summoned by Light Hope.
  • Alternate Tail Series: Archenemy, Kagura's katana in canon, was created by Roubal of Cait Shelter as a means of protecting the Nirvits. When Kagura joins Cait Shelter, he gives it to her after she completes her training in swordsmanship, a few months before joining the alliance to fight the Oracion Seis.
  • Remnant's Bizarre Adventure
    • Following the destruction of Kuroyuri, Ren and Nora snuck onto a boat to get from Mistral to Vale. On the boat they meet the Crusadersnote , who allow them to accompany them until dropping them at an orphanage for Grimm-attack victims before continuing their hunt for DIO.
    • The corpses Enya used are the victims of Mount Glen fall.
    • Iggy is met in the City of Vale, and he and Jotaro fight (Iggy because Jotaro was invading his territory, Jotaro because he thought Iggy was an agent of Dio) until Nora arrives and glomp the dog in a tight hug. Her kindness wins him over enough that she persuades him to help the Crusaders fight DIO while she and Ren are forced to stay behind.
  • The Myth of Link & Zelda: Breath of the Wildnote
    • When Link finally draws the Master Sword, he receives multiple visions instead of the single memory presented in the game. Fi reveals that the reason Ganon, Link, Zelda, and Impa to a lesser extent always occurred together, and the reason Ganondorf carries the Triforce of Power much of the time, is because Ganondorf is Groose reincarnated. Groose's actions impressed the Goddesses enough for them to choose him as a fourth hero to fight Demise's curse...which subsequently latched itself to Groose's soul and caused Ganondorf to become a recurring villain instead of a hero.
    • During the final battle against Dark Beast Ganon, Zelda returns the sand seal Kali to her true form as Epona, and she says that in a past life, Epona was once a bird. This means that Link's Crimson Loftwing from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is Epona's earliest incarnation, effectively making her one of five characters to reincarnate across time to help her master Link.
