Fanfic / The God of Destruction comes to Remnant

Go To

The God of Destruction comes to Remnant by DragonKingDragneel25 is a crossover between RWBY, Godzilla, Jurassic World, and The Land Before Time.

In 2016 on planet Earth, the humans attempt to get rid of Godzilla (called Gojira here) with a new weapon called the De-Atomizer. When they blast him with it, instead of killing him, it warps him to the world of Remnant and transforms him into a Faunus with his tail and spikes who still has his nuclear powers. He arrives sometime before Volume 1 of RWBY. After realizing what happened, Gojira roams around trying to find a way home and getting into adventures along the way.

In addition to the White Fang, Remnant is also plagued by their polar opposites the Red Suns, a group of human supremacists who attack Faunus and humans who sympathize with them.

Eventually, it is revealed that Rexy and Blue from Jurassic World and the now grown up protagonists of The Land Before Time: Littlefoot (he changed his name to Bron), Cera, Ducky, Petrie, and Spike have also somehow been sent to Remnant and turned into Faunus. Later, Mothra (called Mosura here), her son Leo, and Gojira's sons Minya and Junior have somehow been sent to Remnant and turned into Faunus, then they attempt to find Gojira.

With permission from DragonKingDragneel25, Nicdragon8 has written a loose-canon spinoff called Kaiju Connection, a series of one-shots where more Kaiju come to Remnant and develop romances with RWBY characters, and RWBY reads God of Destruction comes to Remnant, where Team RWBY, Coco Adel, Velvet Scarlatina, Amber, and Azusa Gojo are brought together in the dream world by a being called Circe so they can react to the original fic. Sadly, the second fic was deleted by the admins on FanFiction.Net, but Nicdragon8 put it on Archive of Our Own.

Tropes

  • Accidental Murder: While fighting some White Fang thugs, Yang Xiao Long punches one of them hard enough to break his Aura, but then he lands on a rock and breaks his head open. She ends up traumatized from that kill before Gojira talks her out of it.
  • Adaptation Origin Connection: Raven Branwen is revealed to have been Adam Taurus' sensei in swordsmanship. This change is likely because in canon, their swords and sword styles look similar.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: For all of her flaws and failings as a parent, Raven in canon does genuinely love Yang, even if she's terrible at showing it. Here, she has nothing but contempt for Yang's perceived weakness and only stops Adam from killing her since her death would be an inconvenience in the long run.
  • Anti-Hero: Gojira is murderous, glum, and hostile to humans, but he does occasionally show a sense of morals and honor.
  • Aroused by Their Voice: Rexy is described as having a very sensual voice that makes people attracted to her.
  • Attempted Rape: The Red Suns attack Velvet Scarlatina and Coco Adel with this in mind twice. Gojira saves them both times.
  • Backstab Backfire: Gojira beats up a thug, then orders him to leave. When he starts walking away, the thug draws a knife and tries to stab him in the back. Gojira hits him with an Offhand Backhand so powerful it knocks his head off his shoulders.
  • Badass Creed: When Velvet and Coco attempt their Taking You with Me gambit, they recite a chant from the Great War used by Huntsmen who are about to die.
If we die tonight, then we shall die together as one.
Let our souls be guided to paradise with the Maker on High while our earthly bodies return to the Dust which we came.
And know, my brothers and sisters, I was honored to fight alongside you to war.
But tonight, we bid thee... farewell!
  • Barefoot Captives: All of the Faunus the Red Suns have enslaved are mentioned to have no shoes. They put some on after being freed.
  • Better to Die than Be Killed: After Cobalt Yashi is defeated, he confesses his crimes to the public, then slits his own throat rather than be arrested.
  • Broken Pedestal:
    • Cobalt Yashi was revered as one of the finest Huntsmen in Remnant. A lot of people, especially Coco, are heartbroken to learn he was the founder of the Red Suns.
    • Yang has been searching for her long lost mother Raven for years. She finally finds her with Gojira's help only to learn she is an asshole who dismisses her, her father Taiyang, her uncle Qrow, and her foster mother Summer Rose as weak and naive. Yang declares she hates her.
  • BFS: Rexy's sword, Revenant, is 7 feet long. It can also turn into a Lightning Gun.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Cobalt Yashi confesses he doesn't remember how many Faunus and Faunus sympathizers he enslaved, raped, and killed.
  • Bystander Syndrome:
    • Some White Fang thugs harass Weiss Schnee. Gojira is there, but he walks away saying he doesn't care until the White Fang thugs harass him too, causing him to kick their asses. He later clarifies that he could tell they were so weak that Weiss could have beaten them easily.
    • In general, Gojira is indifferent to the conflict between humans and Faunus because he doesn't see much difference between them and he still thinks of himself as a Kaiju. He doesn't care about the White Fang or the Red Suns unless they cross him or someone he cares about.
  • Child Prodigy: Whitley Schnee is a young boy who figures out how to channel nuclear energy into Dust without it exploding. Even Gojira is impressed by his intelligence.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: When Rexy runs into Mosura and learns that she is looking for Gojira, she becomes jealous and challenges Mosura to a fight.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: Gojira is oblivious to the fact he attracts a lot of women like Velvet, Coco, Rexy, and Yang Xiao Long.
  • Composite Character:
    • According to the author, Gojira's true form is supposed to look like the creature from the MonsterVerse. The snippets of his backstory we get from his flashbacks and thoughts and the fact he has both Minya and Junior as sons indicate he has gone through a blend of the Showa, Heisei, and Millennium eras. He later learns how to use the tail and back lasers of his counterpart from Shin Godzilla.
    • Junior mentions he was the one who fought and killed the two MUTO in San Francisco, aka the events of the 2014 film.
  • Dare to Be Badass: Weiss laments on how her father Jacques has control of the Schnee Dust Company, is running it into the ground with his greed and racism, and she can't stop him. Gojira tells her that instead of standing around moping, if she can't oust him by herself, she should gather allies and then go after him.
  • Dog Pile of Doom: Rexy recalls this was how the Red Suns captured her. They try this on Gojira, but he knocks them away with his Nuclear Pulse, killing and maiming several of them.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Bron prefers to be called that and not Littlefoot. Cera and a few others call him Littlefoot anyway.
  • Do with Him as You Will: After Gojira defeats Cobalt Yashi, he says he's not going to kill him because he needs to take Velvet and Coco to the hospital. Instead, he'll leave Cobalt's fate to Rexy. Rexy chooses to force him to turn himself in to the authorities.
  • Ear Ache: When a mind-controlled Rexy is ordered to attack Velvet and Coco, one of her moves is to throw Velvet to the ground and stomp on one of her rabbit ears.
  • Energy Absorption: Gojira can absorb Dust to replenish his strength.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: The Red Suns members Laal Bloodstone and Tarakona are in love. When Gojira defeats Tarakona and is about to kill him, Laal throws herself over him and begs Gojira to spare him, which he does.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Several characters, male and female, are attracted to Rexy and Mosura.
  • Evil Versus Evil: The White Fang are a group of Faunus who want Faunus superiority so they attack humans and Faunus who sympathize with them, often trying to kill them. They are contrasted by the Red Suns, a group of humans who want human superiority so they attack Faunus and humans who sympathize with them, often trying to enslave them. Though so far in the story, the groups haven't met, they mention hating each other for obvious reasons.
  • Exact Words: Whenever Gojira is asked about his origins, he says he lived on a remote island until some scientists blew it up with a nuclear bomb. The bomb's radiation mutated his father, himself, and a few others and gave them powers. His father was driven insane and went on a killing spree until he was killed. He's telling the truth, but he lets people assume this happened recently on Remnant, instead of several decades ago on Earth.
  • Eye Scream: Tarakona normally conceals his eyes with a blindfold. During his fight with Gojira, he lifts the blindfold to reveal his eyes look like they have been cut in half. Even Gojira is disturbed. Shockingly, he is still able to see.
  • Family of Choice: Rexy, Blue, and The Land Before Time characters decide to stick together and call each other brothers and sisters.
  • Fish out of Water: Gojira doesn't know much about human society, but he is a quick learner and quickly figures out concepts like money. Relationships and emotions, though, are another matter.
  • Fountain of Youth:
    • Gojira is really old, but his new body looks like a teenager.
    • In a way, this happened to Rexy. She was in her twenties which made her elderly by T-Rex standards. Upon turning into a Faunus, she becomes a smoking hot woman. Blue still calls her "Old One", which makes her complain that she isn't old anymore.
    • Leo and Junior should be at least in their twenties, and Minya should be far older than that, but when they arrive in Remnant, they turn into children.
  • Fun with Acronyms: Team FABU (Fabulous): Felicia Charrie, Altair Tyrian, Bonny Mahoney, and Urdin Sizz.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Tarakona has a Semblance that causes the target to lose themselves to their primal instincts and go berserk. Normally, this makes the target easier to defeat as a raving berserker loses skill and becomes predictable. However, since Gojira is quite in tune with his primal instincts and is experienced in going berserk, it just makes Gojira even more dangerous than he already is.
  • Hand Blast:
    • Gojira eventually learns how to fire his nuclear energy from his hands.
    • Mosura can naturally do this.
  • Humanity Ensues: Sort of. All the Kaiju and dinosaurs that arrive in Remnant turn into Faunus.
  • Hypno Trinket: The Red Suns have collars that mind control whoever wears them into serving them.
  • I Call It "Vera": Blue wields bladed tonfas called Echo and Charlie and a tri-barrel pistol called Delta, named after her deceased sisters.
  • Immune to Mind Control: Gojira and Mosura are unaffected by Rexy's Semblance, and Gojira is similarly unaffected by the Red Suns' mind control collars and Laal Bloodstone's telepathy. Gojira indicates that their powers are simply too weak; another telepath named Tarakona is able to force Gojira's primal instincts to the surface and cause him to go berserk.
  • Implacable Man: Gojira doesn't have an awakened Aura, so he is vulnerable to punches and getting stabbed and shot. However, his pain tolerance is so high that he almost never slows down when he takes injuries, then his Healing Factor fixes him up quickly.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: General James Ironwood detains Gojira and asks him to allow his scientists to try to harness his nuclear energy. Since Gojira is completely surrounded by soldiers with guns, he surrenders.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: The Red Suns tends to use mind control collars on Faunus. Shortly after Rexy is freed from them, she uses her mind control Semblance on the Red Suns' leader Cobalt Yashi to keep him from escaping.
  • Laugh Cut: When Adam makes his vow to hunt down Gojira and make him suffer, the next scene shows Gojira burst into laughter that ends up being felt in his home dimension as he is walking out of a cookie shop
  • The Law of Diminishing Defensive Effort: When Gojira gets into a fight with a Red Suns thug, he confidently stands still when the thug throws a punch, thinking he's still invulnerable and the thug will break his hand, only to get hurt and knocked down. He learns his lesson and fights smarter in later fights.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Ruby Rose doesn't know about her sister Yang's biological mother Raven Branwen.
  • Made a Slave: Shortly after Rexy, Blue, and The Land Before Time characters arrived in Remnant, they were captured by the Red Suns and fitted with their mind control collars to be used as slaves. Spike, Blue, and Rexy are freed when they are forced to attack Gojira, only for him to destroy their collars. Later, the three free the others.
  • Mind Manipulation:
    • Rexy's Semblance allows her to control people's minds. Presumably, it only works on one person at a time.
    • Laal Bloodstone can subtly adjust people's minds.
    • Tarakona can bring people's primal instincts to the surface.
  • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: Gojira finds that due to his new body, he's starting to feel physically attracted to human and Faunus women. He hates it with a passion as a result.
  • Missed Him by That Much: Mosura's group often enters an area shortly after Gojira left it.
  • Mugging the Monster: Shortly after Gojira arrives, a racist mocks him for being naked and then attacks him with a knife. Gojira blasts his head off with his atomic breath and then steals his clothes.
  • My Greatest Failure: Blue is still haunted by the deaths of her sisters and regularly has nightmares of them.
  • Naked on Arrival: Gojira, Mosura, and everybody else arrived in Remnant naked and had to acquire clothes.
  • Nonchalant Dodge: Laal ticks off Coco by effortlessly dodging her attacks. Coco only manages to hit her once.
  • The Nose Knows: Gojira's sense of smell is very acute. He is able to track Velvet and Coco when they are captured by the Red Suns, track down the teleporting Raven (though since Yang is her daughter, he briefly mistakes Yang for her because their scents are similar), and can tell Penny Polendina is a robot.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Gojira and his nuclear energy. Remnant has never heard of nuclear energy, a power different from Dust. Gojira's blasts can easily punch through Auras and the Grimm's bodies and either kill people or leave them with severe burns. Yang and Adam's Semblances can absorb it, but not completely and it still burns them. Gojira's energy can also supercharge Dust far beyond its normal limits if it is channeled properly without exploding.
  • Pedestrian Crushes Car: A Red Suns thug knocks Gojira into the street where he gets hit by a car. It knocks him down, but he isn't hurt while the car gets totaled.
  • Pitiful Worms: Gojira tends to call anyone he doesn't respect bugs, calling Jacques Schnee a parasite.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Raven warns the White Fang not to kill Yang, not because she cares about her, but because doing so would bring the wrath of Qrow on their heads.
  • Pretend Prejudice: Despite being the founder of a racist human supremacy group, Cobalt doesn't actually have any personal hatred towards the Faunus. He just saw exploiting racism against Faunus as a convenient means to gain a follower base for his own ambitions.
  • Pretender Diss: Upon fighting and easily defeating the Grimm, Gojira dismisses them as nothing compared to a Kaiju. Gojira often dismisses the White Fang as weaklings whenever they try to get him to join them.
  • Punch Catch:
    • When Gojira insults Yang for freaking out about accidentally killing someone, she loses her temper, charges up on her Semblance, and throws a punch at him. He effortlessly catches her fist and her other fist when she tries to punch him with that too. He holds her in place until she calms down.
    • Tarakona does this to Gojira, impressing him.
  • Related in the Adaptation: The original Godzilla from 1954 was Gojira's father.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: Gojira doesn't see anything wrong with killing, but when he learns the Red Suns plan to rape Velvet and Coco, he becomes completely enraged and comes to their rescue.
  • Secret-Keeper: Gojira decides to trust Penny and her father enough to tell them his true origins. Penny's father admits he has no idea how to open a portal between their worlds, but he'll do his best to try to return him home.
  • Serial Killer: There is one on the loose in Mantle, butchering people like cattle. He is eventually revealed to be none other than Destoroyah, who has also arrived in Remnant as a Faunus.
  • She Is All Grown Up: When Nicolas Schnee wakes up from his coma, he remarks that the last time he saw them, Winter was a little girl and Weiss was a baby, but now they are grown up and beautiful.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Nicolas Schnee is not dead, but has been in a coma for about 17 years after inhaling an unhealthy amount of Dust powder in an accident. Eventually, Gojira absorbs the Dust from his system, allowing him to wake up.
  • Speak Ill of the Dead: Raven mocks the deceased Summer Rose, calling her a naïve fool.
  • Strong and Skilled: Gojira possesses immense power and is an experienced fighter from all the fights he has taken part in, plus he learned martial arts by watching humans do the same. The same can be said for Mosura.
  • Suddenly Speaking: After becoming a Faunus, Spike has become a lot more talkative. Bron comments he liked it better when he didn't talk.
  • Super-Strength: Gojira has insane levels of physical strength, being able to break people's Auras and break Grimm to pieces with one or a few blows and bust through concrete and metal. Rexy is also incredibly strong, able to effortlessly manhandle Coco, who is renowned for her own strength, and send people flying, but she isn't as strong as Gojira. Mosura mostly relies on her energy blasts, but she is able to hurl Rexy through the air. Tarakona is strong enough to fight evenly with Gojira.
  • Taking You with Me: When Velvet and Coco are cornered by the Red Suns in a warehouse full of Dust containers and out of options, they decide to ignite the Dust to blow all of them up. Fortunately, Gojira arrives before that is necessary.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Several of the Remnant characters like Velvet, Coco, and Yang believe in not killing their enemies and are horrified to learn Gojira doesn't abide by it.
  • Throwing the Fight: Mosura joins a tournament in Mistral in the hopes of attracting Gojira's attention. When she gets to the final match against Pyrrha Nikos, she concludes Gojira isn't there and her participation was a waste of time. After a few exchanges of blows, she dejectedly walks off the stage on purpose to lose via Ring Out, much to everybody's shock.
  • Unknown Rival: Gojira defeats Adam Taurus and severely injures him, causing Adam to swear vengeance on him, saying that as soon as his injuries heal, he will hunt him down and make him suffer. Gojira laughs off his threats and does not give him a second thought.
  • Victoria's Secret Compartment: Emerald Sustrai picks Gojira's pocket for his wallet and sticks it in her cleavage. However, Gojira catches her and does not hesitate to reach into her cleavage to get it back, leaving her sputtering in outrage.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: An Atlas officer named Vatista Jazlyn volunteers to channel a piece of Dust that Gojira supercharged. She ends up firing a blast that erases the top of a mountain.
  • We Can Rule Together: The White Fang often tries to recruit Gojira. He usually responds by walking away or kicking their asses.
  • Worf Had the Flu: Velvet and Coco get easily beaten up by Red Suns thugs who should have been cannon fodder to them. Eventually, Cobalt Yashi explains that he had been stalking the two for a while and had an underling named Laal Bloodstone telepathically assault them for weeks so that they would be easily distracted and prone to mistakes, have dulled reflexes, etc. so that they would be weak enough to capture.
  • You Are a Credit to Your Race:
    • Gojira hated humans, but he respected Azusa Gojo for helping raise his son Junior and Nick Tatopoulos for helping raise his friend Zilla. As he spends time in Remnant, he starts adding others to the list like Velvet, Coco, Yang, etc.
    • Since Raven was Adam's sensei, she is one of the only humans he respects.
    • Despite being a member of the Red Suns, Laal and Tarakona are in love even though he is a Faunus.
  • You Remind Me of X: Gojira muses that personality wise, Velvet reminds him of Azusa Gojo and Coco reminds him of Biollante.
