Spinel's New Best Friend

Set at the end of the events of Steven Universe: The Movie, Steven has just stopped Spinel from going through with her plan to kill Earth, and then him. Steven goes to get his friends, and Spinel starts to think she's done too much damage to really deserve their forgiveness. She decides to run away to another planet and start anew there. After taking the warp pad to some random planet, Spinel then decides to use the Rejuvenator on herself, ensuring herself a new beginning.
Meanwhile, in Equestria on the Planet Equis, Rarity, Applejack, and Twilight Sparkle are searching for a jewel to put on Rarity's present for Pinkie Pie's 21st birthday. The trio come across a strange, heart-shaped Spinel in the Everfree Forest. Rarity decides to use it for her dress, not realizing just what the jewel even is.
Naturally, the jewel reveals herself as a rejuvenated Spinel, who instantly declares herself Pinkie Pie's new best friend. Pinkie Pie is delighted by the very special gift her friends got her. Of course, the Mane Six soon discover that Pinkie Pie's new best friend has a bit of emotional baggage from her old life.

- Adaptational Species Change: King Sombra is changed into a gem in this story. He was created by Yellow Diamond and sent to planet Equis to colonize it as a test of his worth.
- Fun with Acronyms: The experimental gem Yellow Diamond sent to Equis is called the Synthetic Onyx Military Biological Replicant Attacker.
- Shipper on Deck: In "Chapter 5", when Pearl accidentally brings up an image of Yellow Pearl and Blue Pearl on the Warp Pad screen, she quickly explains that Pink Diamond saw them laughing over something during Court, and became convinced they'd make a cute couple.
- Shout-Out: In chapter 6, when Spinel is put in the dressing room at Carousel Boutique with a bunch of books to decide on her outfit for the Grand Galloping Gala, she looks at a picture of a frog. She comes out wearing a black top hat and bowtie, holding a cane and singing "Hello my Pinkie, hello my Rarity, hello by two great galllllsssss!".
- Take Our Word for It: In chapter 2, Pinkie Pie suggests she and Spinel entertain each other with a Goof-Off, which Spinel excitedly agrees to. The following sentence is "After an absurd level of goofiness that would be impossible for any mere mortal to describe.".
- You Are Number 6: In chapter 2, Spinel introduces herself to Twilight Sparkle as "Spinel Facet-4G2A Cut-3YT".
