Call My Name (I'll Be There)

Okay, when we last left the blog, we were on the villain’s turf and now we get to see their powers. Villain Episode GO!

On the bottom of page 38 is a picture of the Negaverse’s Quirky Mini Boss Squad, the Shitennou, who are composed of Internet Personality Jedite, Molly’s Boyfriend, Sephiroth, and a He-she. Okay, okay, I kid. Jadeite, Nephrite, Malachite, and Zoycite. Can you blame me for using Fan Nicknames when I don’t know these guys names (save for Jedite)? However, thanks to having them burned in my retina now, I will stick to naming them correctly. Except for Jedite, because it sounds cool. Anyways, why have I mentioned them, well, look at the picture, don’t they fit the Knight description more than “wear formal wear and throw roses at people”? That is what I will be thinking of from now on whenever Knights are mentioned. Also, bonus points for them having no lips.

If I have read this right, you could be both a Sailor Scout/Knight and a villain at the same time. I can see where they can go with that, Stars’ villain was a Sailor Scout herself, and Tuxedo Mask had that whole Brainwashed and Crazy thing in the finale of the first season. This could also explain why the powers could be abused.

The first power these guys can possess is the ability to drain energy from people. Something I have not brought up in the previous part was that using some of the powers requires energy to be spent or “burned” as the book says. So this can act as a Mana Drain of sorts.

The next power is environmental control. As in, you can change up the environment in order to suit your needs. It is not specific what the limit is for each level so I can assume level 6 = kiss your world goodbye. Speaking of Game Breakers...

We can use Lelouch’s Geass! Yes, Mind Control. No wait... It also shares Mao’s Geass (Reading minds) AND Charles’ Geass (Memory alteration), and can give us the ability to pull an Inception (Planting ideas)? SIGN ME UP! THIS IS VERY CRAZY AWESOME. Also, this thing is capable (at higher levels) of MASS MIND CONTROL! I LOVE THIS POWER! Okay. Sorry, I am not really a Code Geass fan, but I know enough to make me want this power. And the bonus of Inception helps sweeten the deal.

Next power is a Negaverse attack. These attacks do damage and can be of any appearance the user wishes. So meaning your attack can be a fire attack that burns a forest down (Great for getting the Marines’ attention) or (and I am hypothesizing here) can be a Mind Rape (Alright! Another power to take, all my attacks will be mind based and will have the Hallelujah Chorus playing every time).

Next is the Item of Power, which is covered in the previous post.

Next are magical spells, which is a fancy way of saying “Any power you saw in Sailor Moon that was used by the bad guys is now a spell.” This is cool. However, I will stick to the Le Ma Cha (LELOUCH! MAO! CHARLES! LE-MA-CHA! LEMACHA LE-MA-CHA!) Inception, thank you very much. The examples of power include teleportation, levitation, etc.

Next is the ability to defend against magical attacks. Wow. Next.

Okay, if I had the power to make slaves by brainwashing random people, why in the Lord’s name do I want to have the power to summon a Monster of the Week? Other than to summon up LUGATA-LUGATA!

Sadly, we are done with the villains. Now on to the neutral powers. Any character can take these powers. However, they are uninteresting so I shall fit most of them into one paragraph and sum them up in one sentence.

First off is acrobatism. This just means how skilled at Ballet Fu you are. The next ability, Appearance is just a good way of saying “Distracted by the Sexy”, especially on later levels as that’s exactly what they do. The next ability is distracting people. The ability after that is combat training, how skilled at kung fu you really are. The next power, Damn Healthy! (that is the name, I am not making this up) which is bonus HP, making you Made of Iron. Divine Relationship is a fancy way of saying Reroll Ability. Energy Bonus is Damn Healthy with Energy instead of health. Extra Attacks has you gain an extra attack each level. Focused Combat increases your power when a certain condition has been met. Fortified Body gives you more Body stat. Heightened Negaverse/Scout/Knight powers means it grants you additional points for your respective power. Heightened Senses = Super-Senses. Next ability has Attack Its Weak Point For Massive Damage. Powerful Mind increases your Mind stat. Special Attack/Defend gives you different powers not shown in the Scout or Negaverse sections that give off a combat advantage. Super-Speed. Strong Soul gives you additional points in the Soul stat.

Now we have an ability that I have to make a new paragraph to explain. Supernatural Training. At Level 1, your character knows about supernatural creatures. At level two, they can detect supernatural presence nearby. At level 3, this power is increased city wide. At level 4, they can exorcise demons and place wards on places, themselves, or other people to prevent any supernatural attacks. Level 5 gives them the power to send those demons back to where they came from, and seal them in. Finally, level six makes them immune from direct supernatural attack. Why do I have Shinkenger in mind? Finally, unique powers that affect the game out of combat. These range from Time Travel to Immortality.

Alright! We are done the attributes. Next we tackle the flaws. We have covered 50 pages so far. We are a quarter of the way done.

Huh, I wonder if this is the same imprint that did a Trigun RPG in the store a couple years back?

Man, I kinda miss Guardians Of Order.
