This won’t be Everything Great about CinemaWins. There are a lot of good things about it sure the idea that every movie is someone’s favourite the refusal to AccentuateTheNegative and the fact it engages in genuine film analysis are all things I like about it. And normally when he Wins something which shouldn’t be a Win it’s justified by the RuleofFunny. That said there flaws with his channel because as Th3Birdman says as his catchphrase there is no channel without sin. In CinemaWins video about the 1984 movie TheKarateKid he criticizes the movie on the grounds that balance with his relationship with his LoveInterest can’t have been that important considering how quickly he got over her in TheKarateKidPartII but that forgets the fact that the movie in question came out before the sequel was written. And it makes no sense to criticize a movie for something that happens in a sequel. His would have been a legitimate critique of the Karate Kid II, it isn’t of the first one. Also in Everything Great AboutX-men he defends the fact that it doesn’t line up perfectly with the timeline of {{Film/X-men:First Class}} even though I don’t see how you can criticize a movie for being inconsistent with a prequel that came out 11 years after it did. If there were a place for him to mention it it would be in his First Class video. As someone whose favourite X-men movie is First Class, I’m glad he didn’t. But the idea that it’s the original that needs to be defended for that is ludicrous. Also in his video about BigHero6 he comments at the end that it’s about granting forgiveness to people who neither request nor deserve it. This might be ValuesDissonance but in my book that’s not a Win. Also in his video about FantasticBeastsAndWhereToFindThem he comments that American magical society is self-contradictory because they have a black female president and practise capital punishment. Even though there is no contradiction between those at all. I would qualify that my frustrations with CinemaWins are the exception rather than the rule. And I generally greatly enjoy watching Cinema Wins videos especially about movies I like especially ones that got panned. And I’m still holding out for Everything Great AboutGreenLantern and Everything Great AboutShrektheThird. So all in all it’s imperfect but it’s good.
