Indeed. While Supes may not have been the first or the most powerful (the idea of Superman being the most powerful superhero is debatable) superhero, he is without a doubt the embodiment of the genre.
The Cinemasins narrator once said that as far as superheroes go, there's Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and everyone else.

I really wish the character would get more exposition lastly; he deserves more. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Batman, but lastly, well... let's just say DC is really pushing it with him. Superman could use some of the spotlight.

Superman: Greatest hero of all time, and inspiration to many
Superman needs no introduction. He is the living embodiment of the good in all of us. He may not be Batman, Wolverine or Spiderman, but without him, those guys wouldn't exist. With his incredible story, his adventures and his amazing abilites and kind heart, Superman is the person we all aspire to be. In short, Superman is the man!
