Justice League cares more about the costumes, colors and number of superheroes than their personalities and unique traits and pits them against a very boring villain who leads an army of bugs. If anything, this movie looks more like a bug spray commercial than a superhero movie. Where's the classic DC villains that actually have personalities and can talk and don't look all the same like Joker, Darkseid and Brainiac? Turns out Warner Bros were saving those for the sequel (which might never happen because this movie bombed so hard at the box office). They should've just stuck with Lex Luthor and Deathstroke as the movie's main villains and not save them for the post-credits scene. They could have made more money that way.
The villain of the movie (Steppenwolf) is SO boring and so cliche. I'd much rather have Doomsday back! The writing and directing for this movie is CRAZY Lazy, as in it's so lazy it's a crazy type of lazy. Both Joss Whedon and Zack Snyder failed at bringing Justice League into their first theatrical film! Seriously, I don't care which director is at bigger fault for the movie's flaws (I suspect it's Snyder), but this is just unacceptable!
There's too much CGI, flying rocks, levitation, electricity, slow-motion scenes, metallic robotic-shifting and water in the movie. Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash aren't really cinematic as superheroes, all they do is make the screen flashy with water waves, metal / CGI and slow-motion blue electricity respectively. This movie will not win very many awards for special effects. The color scheming was too biased in favor of red, the entire sky in the final battle is red. The slow-motion scenes with Flash only make the movie even more boring, and the villains are very generic. All you have are Steppenwolf and a bunch of bugs that all look the same. Steppenwolf's dialogue sucked, "The three are one!" or "For Unity! For Darkseid!" and "The Amazonians and Atlanteans Rise and Fall Alone!" —— uh, why did the writers make Steppenwolf say that they rise? Switch RISE with PERISH or SUFFER or LOSE, that works way better.
I'd say even Suicide Squad was better than Justice League, and "Suicide Squad" was only interested in over-sexualizing Harley Quinn and Enchantress to make them eye candy. The thing was at least Suicide Squad didn't have much over-reliance on CGI as Justice League did.
