Wasted potential or doomed from the start?

When I saw that Nickelodeon would pick T.U.F.F. Puppy (as I liked The Fairly Oddparents, the earlier episodes at least), I decided to give it a try. A few episodes later I regretted that.

Initially I thought that the show would take the Danny Phantom route (like a balance between slapstick and action). To me the earlier episodes seemed okay, but the later excessive amount of slapstick, coupled with very inane plots (although the earlier episodes had those from time to time) turned me away from it.

Don't get me wrong, I liked T.U.F.F. Puppy at first despite that it was like Get Smart with animals, but (as usual with this kind of shows) then Flanderization kicked in, it suffered lack of Character Development and had way too many characters who seemed interesting, but were wasted by getting little to no screentime. Later I thought that they didn't know how to handle it and let it die a slowly and painful death, or they simply didn't care to begin with, and then I didn't even bother watching it.

To be fair, I think that T.U.F.F. Puppy had a lot of wasted potential; sure, it was dumb at first, but the reasons stated doomed it, maybe from the start. Maybe in a few years (if not right now) it will be forgotten like many other Nickelodeon shows that aren't Sponge Bob Squarepants...
