The Rescued from the Scrappy Heap entry about Gilgamesh feels kinda shoehorned to me because Gilgamesh was never a Scrappy. Am I on-base about this?

There are a lot of people who don't play any of the games and only know him from the various animated adaptations. To them, Original Recipe Gilgamesh is an opinion-dividing Hate Sink, and Caster Gilgamesh is the first exposure they've likely had to his less-villainous side outside of purely-humorous spin-offs like Carnival Phantasm. I didn't write that part, but I think it's a defensible take.

That said, it might be worth re-writing that entry to clarify.

That's still more of a Base-Breaking Character than a Scrappy, though, isn't it? I'll admit I might be off base here, but I feel like even his Zero version had a pretty big fanbase, and even at his most villainous people liked him as a villain, right?

Opening up this topic in case an edit war fully breaks out over ED entries

My two cents are I do feel that Siduri getting her own special ending sequence kinda detracts from her point as minor character unexpectedly becoming very popular because it shows the creators were aware of the impact it would have and capitalized on that for maximum emotional effect.

The latest entry on Ensemble Dark Horse feels... flawed to a great extent.

like I can't believe I'm saying this but the declaration that was no porn being made for Tiamat before the anime was made feels like wild hyperbole. I'm almost certain you can find that on pixiv or danbooru without even going into any of the sites where NSFW content is the aggregate content

Thing is, before the anime was even announced Tiamat received next to no love in terms of fanart. I know since I looked on pixiv, gelbooru and exhentai and other sites. It was only after the anime was announced and came out did she start gaining any fanart or porn doujins. But your right though, its not a good reason though I do believe she still deserves the trope.

I disagree. She might’ve got more popular, but she wasn’t unpopular or overlooked. Before Kingprotea, there was enough demand for her to become playable that people saw KP as an inadequate replacement.

And as a major villain, she’d be ineligible anyway.

I've noted on ATT that there's an Edit War over Single-Issue Wonk, but it seems the problem is that "x character is popular and liked" isn't really a trope no matter how many tropes get shoehorned, it's a case of People Sit on Chairs: YMMV edition.

People like Tiamat and make fanart of her. Cool. Is there any reason why this needs to be noted in comparison to any other character who is presumably liked in this anime?
