Uhh, guys, what happened to the Uncanny Valley tag, did it got rewritten or the boys upstairs got possessed by their SJW personas again? I miss my Facial Horror tag about the hilarious and frightening head gore when you dome a human enemy.

When an idea is formed and practiced, learn NOT from the creators but the reputation the public invest in. Website fine, idiot admins bad!

I don't think I agree with the erasing of the Brotherhood's Designated Villain entry. While the trope who did rasie some very good points about how they do want to rule the area, I felt that was also ignoring how their conquest is better than many alternatives and they don't seem hostile to non-Institute settlements or ghouls.

Maybe Designated Villain should be re added but with more neutrality and weighing of the two sides. Since I don't play the games (I just watch some videos of people playing), I don't know if I'm qualified to do such a write up without making mistakes, though.

About Maxon's "Scrappy" entry, is calling him a racist really accurate? Now, I know a lot of people don't like the guy but none of the groups he dislikes really qualify as a race. Mutants and Ghouls are just mutated humans and synths are robots. If I'm wrong feel free to let me know but it seems like calling him a human-centric purist might be more accurate.

"Racist" is commonly-accepted shorthand for prejudice based on appearance or origin. See Fantastic Racism.

EDIT: Or don't because discussion pages are broken and can't link to anything. Guh.

"A general consensus among fans agree that the game is a considerable step up from Bethesda's Fallout 3" Oh really?

This was under Broken Base:

  • There's been some controversy over Good Neighbor shopkeeper KL-E-O's presentation as an apparently transgender Assaultron, with some viewing it as an offensive caricature.

I moved it here for two reasons: 1. there's been a minor Edit War over it, and 2. as written it doesn't qualify for Broken Base. There have to be two distinct sides arguing bitterly over the subject, not just one side that feels fired up over while no one else really has an opinion, no matter how large or passionate that one side is. Since I don't pay attention to the fanbase, can anyone confirm with any authority that there is, in fact, a fan fight on the subject and re-add the entry with more clarity?

(Also, it may count as Unfortunate Implications, but that requires citation. So, that would have be shown if that turns out to be the case.)

Yeah, I haven't seen any mention of this outside of this page. Maybe in some small tumblr circles there's some outrage going on, but when isn't there?

Plus, as previous editors on the subject pointed out, I don't see how KL-E-0 is trans at all. Assaultrons have robo-boobs and speak with female voices for god's sake, how is KL-E-0 calling herself a woman trans?

KL-E-0 does have some elements of her character in line with stereotypes of Trans Women, in particular her voice (especially on the line "I'm a woman baby") is pretty much hitting the nail on the head as to the exact one which exists for the stereotype (Think like the high pitched shrill "gay" voice). But it's not nearly a common enough claim for me to say that it's a base breaker beyond the handful of people who noticed the voice.

I'd say we keep it in. Having playing that part, you have the option to say that KL-E-0's not a woman, despite her insistence. With a persuasion option, you can say that she's a robot.

Wouldn't that be more "It" Is Dehumanizing, though?

So, I'm noticing that often times the full series fallout page for tropes gets ignored or underutilized, when including it in the YMMV would probably mean it's more visible and is updated more. In particular mementic mutation is basically a stub on the specific fallout page and the examples on each individual YMMV page are way longer, but it covers a lot of tropes.

Seems to be a minor Edit War over the Institute's entry under Alternate Character Interpretation. There's nothing glaring so far, but the language seems a bit editorial and is currently two large walls of text. Advise cleanup/editing?
