Okay, I erased Beware the Nice Ones example since acutians and evucs are ALWAYS the ones who killed off your species. Hell, everytime Acutians become spacefaring computer says "Beware, they wiped out your species after all" or something like that
Though trope still exists since andors, peltians and skylaxians are still capable of becoming galactic conquerors, skylaxians espicially seem to do warring rather easily :P And peltians have suicide bombings and their ultimate weapon building drops fricking asteroids on planets.
Also, trailer doesn't show desolution bomb, it shows evucks' weapon draining sea of the planet. Hydrals are apparently somewhat aquatic species so they killed majority of them by beaching/destroying the eco system :P
Okay, now that Evucs have ability to do sabotaging with spy drones... Yeah, the action which killed Hydral's planet is environmental sabotage option. Thats what computer AI says.
So basically, they didn't drop Depopulation Bomb, they destroyed the environment by causing sea to dry up.
