- Cameo of the Deloran in the first test. Its flying mode proves quite useful in a regular race.
- The director's name is also dropped as part of the name of a time-resetting item.
Bill & Ted: Plot Point and reference in how to defeat the first test.
King Kong: Cameo of Kong in the first test, starting off as the iconic building climb, then racing with the players, and ending as an obstacle near the end of it.
Jurassic Park: Cameo of Rexy in the first test, as an behind-the-racer obstacle, referencing the infamous chase scene.

Video Games

The idea of a game developer holding a contest themed around solving a series of puzzles to find an Easter Egg in his games is cited in-universe as being inspired by Swordquest.
Adventure: Plot Point in that the third test is literally finding the first Easter Egg in Video Game History
