Asshole Victims:

I still believe Ginis and Bunglay qualify. Their actions were beyond unforgivable.

Ginis:

  • Destroyed 99 planets (including Kubar's)
  • Killed Naria because she pitied him
  • (for more of his atrocities, look him up in the YMMV's Complete Monster category)

Bunglay:

  • Hunting 99 animals
  • All of his Kick the Dog moments

I know Ginis is a Big Bad, but a lot of other Big Bads of numerous series qualified as Asshole Victims. Look at Embryo of Cross Ange (whose actions are just as atrocious as Ginis' (maybe even worse)), for example. He's the Big Bad of that series, and he qualified as an AV. Why shouldn't Ginis?

If I'm believed to be correct, the main focus on the Asshole Victim trope is the "victim" aspect and does not intend to apply to the villain or Big Bad in general. It could be a Karmic Death for the examples regarding Ginis and Bunglay above since they're villains. But still, maybe we can ask other tropers about their thoughts on it on Ask The Tropers so that there isn't an Edit War?

I've already asked about the entry on the "Is this an example?" page here.

Five-Man Band Tropes:

Should we switch Tusk and Leo's roles around in the Five-Man Band? It seems like Leo is more the Lancer (judging by his hot-blooded contrast to Yamato's The Straight Man attitude), and Tusk's fighting style fits The Big Guy way more than Leo's.

On the contrary, I think Tusk should stay as The Smart Guy. Of all things to consider, he's the most studious and always seen with a book. Might fit as a Genius Bruiser too. Not to mention, of all his Beast Awakening skills, he's the only guy who's technically using a projectile on his stomp, the only long range fighter, the rest just gets up close and personal. Regardless of his more rejecting nature in the beginning, he eventually mingles with the rest.

Leo can still fit on The Big Guy. However, I think Sela fits The Lancer even more now especially after Episode 4. She has a hypercompetitive streak, instigates rivalry with Leo to the point that when the subject is about him, she looked really scornful. This looks like something more 'rebellious' and thus far, she shows nothing about being a Smart Girl. To add this further, amongst all the main Zyumen, she's the only one based on sea creatures. And of the team, she becomes like this once Yamato gets the Zyuoh Gorilla upgrade.

You think?
