Cosmic Horror Story: Checks all of the boxes despite no Eldritch Abomination being involved (yet). There are aliens between the stars, they are incredibly more advanced than we are, they want nothing but destruction, they know where we are, they're already working on bringing about our downfall, and there's pretty much nothing we can do about it. Even disregarding a race of omnicidal galactic conquerors that doesn't like us, just about every other place in the universe seems to try and kill us, too. Horribly. Meanwhile, mankind is still mired in petty internal conflicts that hamper their ability to fight back. Truly, if there is a light at the end of the tunnel, it has yet to show itself.
Because that's not... really cosmic horror so much as "Aliens Are Bastards." The show has none of the hallmarks of cosmic horror like the pointlessness and insignificance of humans, the inevitability of destruction, and especially of hopelessness of the mission. The entry seems to confuse "slightly scary drama with aliens and setbacks for the sake of drama" with Cosmic Horror Story.
