Question: would Some Like It Hot count as a played with variation of this trope? The main characters are witnesses to the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre (well, a version of it with fictional characters) and run away to not be killed by the Mafia, only for the Mafia to figure out who and where they are through whatever few clues the main characters left behind and come gunning for them in the third act. The only true difference is that the characters are not in the Witness Protection Program (it didn’t even existed when the film was made)… maybe that would count as Older Than They Think, then?
