the best part is that applying this fallacy can actually lead to a slippery slope.

I've removed the economist example because it is not a true representation of economics. No economist believes that we can continue to mine resources forever, we don't think that it is a problem because when we have exhausted all the reserves, we will have found a substitute for whatever resource already
