Heh this is the first time I am doing something in a discussion, but I am wanting to suggest making "Designated Unrequited Love" a alternate title to this trope. To me it seems rather fitting for this trope, but I just thought I make a suggestion about this.
Re: Literature-Brienne of Tarth - can someone fix the example explaining why she fits this trope and with whom she is of the incompatible orientation. I am not far enough through the books to find out why but someone had just put her name and a number of sinkholes (to A Song Of Ice And Fire, and Incompatible Orientation) so I extended them out into at least an example which states explicitly in which book she is a character.
