So I'm thinking of a play where this joke happens, but it's with a coded message, not another language. Would that be this trope, and if not, is there a trope for that, and if there's a trope for that, should it be linked to from the description of this trope?

What on earth is going on with the real life examples? They mostly aren't "similar-sounding sentences with drastically different meanings", they're things like "'malo malo malo malo' is a possible sentence in Latin".
I can kind of see how it started, there's one word that can have multiple meanings, but in an ordinary sentence the context would make it obvious.
