Removed from the aticle (reorganization of examples)
- This is parodied in a 30 second summary of Grease, "Now that you're not who you are anymore, I can love you for how I wanted you to be."
It is not clear what medium the parody is. If you know, feel free to put it back.
Does the song 'Brass in Pocket' by the Pretenders count as an example?
Apparently not an example:
- Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist has this.
- Your Mileage May Vary. About the sluttiest thing Norah did was swap out a sports bra for a regular bra. She caught and held Nick's attention by being the Deadpan Snarker music geek she was naturally.
Topic of Discussion: Trope Image
Any particular reason why this image◊ from Naruto is better than this one◊ from Grease? As far as I know (I don't watch Naruto), the Naruto pic isn't an example of the trope— it's just some chick in a skimpy outfit. Grease is the Trope Codifier, and it's a very well-known and memorable scene. It fits the trope.
Thanks for the all fish! Hide / Show RepliesOkay, since I got no reply, I'm just going to take this to Image Pickin' for some insight.
Thanks for the all fish!Just replace the original image. The problem with that Naruto picture is that it's fanart of a character from the series' Fan-Preferred Couple. She doesn't act like that at all and is the polar opposite of this trope.
As per the discussion in Image Pickin', changed the image to a "Before and After" pic from Grease.
Thanks for the all fish!Moving this here for discussion:
- The musical Gigi might be an example.
- That seemed to be less of her dressing as a slut and more of her dressing like an adult. Before that, Gigi dressed like a little girl. It wasn't until she began to dress like a woman that the guy she hooks up with sees her as mature enough to marry.
- Well, she was a little girl.
- It seemed more that this trope was what her aunt, grandmother, and mother all believed in (opting to all be mistresses and more or less hook up with wealthy men for money) and push Gigi towards. The man she loves (and who she is pushed to be the mistress of) ultimately sees her as an adult but they get married respectfully rather than her only sleeping with him for jewelry and a house and money. Of course, that's if you're going off of the literal meaning of "whore", but then it was a different time period...

There's good points on both sides, personally, I'm inclined to go with "not and example" it wasn't that she started dressing sexier, it was the growing up that caused it. And in the time period and place the work is set the mistress of a wealthy man got almost all the benefits of marriage to him, without the responsibilities. About all she missed out on was the formal social status of being Madame Seauetseau.
