Tyrannosaurus Rex: Several pop up, but surprisingly, author refrains from using them too much in favor of other dinosaurs. Their impact on the world is felt, though - the Emperor's personal guard is named the Tyrants after in-universe name for them. There's also a bigger and stronger species of Tyrannosaurus, called Tyrannosaurus imperator ("tyrant reptile emperor").
