All examples listed consisted entirely of physical hand to hand combat against the monsters in question, mainly because Phantoms and Ghouls are Anti-Magic against Pony magic.

I'm still skeptical, since that might be more Fights Like a Normal or Brought Down to Badass.
And does Rainbow Dash still fly?

Well, anyone that can fly is kind of out of the running for being a Badass Normal.
Power Loss Makes You Strong? Drama-Preserving Handicap?
Is there a trope that involves a reduction in power, but not a full-blown De-power? I'll check.

I have not read this fic, but there have been times when people have described a pegasus as a Badass Normal despite the fact that the pegasus is a cloud walking, weather manipulating, flying, magical talking horse, or King Sombra even though he's a magic user.
I want to make sure that this is Badass Normal, and not Brought Down to Badass, or even, Square Peg Round Trope (there is no relatively when it comes to Badass Normal, you being able to throw spells around kinda disqualifies you).
