Another thing: I think Lily being Trans could probably be eased on as spoiler content due to how widespread that information has become.
Character Specific Page cleanupI notice Maimai (from Revenge Episode 7) hasn't been added yet. Would she go under "Zombies" with the other members, or under "Humans"?
EDIT: Never mind, she already got added under "Humans" and I missed her when I first checked.
Edited by F1KrazyI recommend that the revelation of Lily being transgender should be a spoiler. Also please use feminine pronouns for her since she want's to go by them.
Hide / Show RepliesI mean, it is a pretty big revelation, not a huge one but I think it should count. Also Lily's insistence on not being called Masao anymore and the continued use of feminine pronouns by everyone proves that she is trans and not a crossdresser, unlike some people on the internet claim.
Edited by MrFinnishDudeActually a good question to answer because we are risking a edit war here. The show doesn't use the word trans, but to quote what is said above, "Lily insists on not being called Masao anymore and only uses feminine pronouns". For something to be ambiguous there should be more than one possible interpretation to it. If anybody can refute all the evidence pointing to her being trans and offer another interpretation, please do it here. Let's try to put a stop on this discussion now to avoid any edit wars later.
She was assigned male at birth but calls herself "she" and uses female honorifics, a female name, hates and refuses to be called by her old masculine name. That's... that's the exact definition of trans, that's why they say she's trans.
Yeah it's obvious that Lily is trans. Completely feminine preference for gender presentation. Publicly interacting as female. Rejecting their birth name in favor of one that them feel good. Extreme distaste at anyone trying to force her into gender roles, denaming, or misgendering her. Gender-related body issues common of trans juveniles. Using female pronouns and honorifics.
"'Shame?' I left that in my dad's balls." -Chihiro-sensei (The Pet Girl Of Sakurasou)what? she never showed distate for her old name. if anything, i find it offensive that you'd label her for the reason of she doesnt use her old name.
now, why am i still calling Lily by feminine pronouns despite the fact i dont see her as trans? because thats what she wants to be to make others happy, not because she's trans, but it helps her follow her dream. you folks are litterally focusing on the wrong thing regarding ep 8. this guy says it much better than i could, so i'd give it a watch if i were you all. now if you still feel she's transgender, then all power to you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jc4CG_eud0
- edit* i just kinda realized, it might be better to note any reference to her being 'trans' or whatever as YMMV, just in case.
She refers to it as the "name she threw away" in japanese and gets mad at Kotaro when he deliberately invokes that name to make a point to the other girls about her still being Lily. It'd only be offensive to call her trans if, for some reason, her being trans was a bad thing to be.
Plus the fact that the writers have said on multiple occasions that Lily is canonically trans.
On the official Twitter they refer to her specifically in female pronouns. When they find out she was born a boy she insists nothing is different and she's the same e.g. she's the girl they all assumed. But if you need even more evidence, she is shown outside with her dad, at work with him and even at home still dressed girlishly. If this was merely a persona for the public she would could drop it at home. Not to mention she was dressing this way BEFORE she went into showbiz.
I find it hilarious how everyone wants to debate Lily's gender, and no one is asking where Sakura got that giant face scar when we saw her face in the pilot without damage, post truck-kun meeting. Riddle me that one.
I can refute Lily being transgender. The entire narrative framework was not about Lily's gender identity. It was Lily's vanity being at stake. It was stated in the subtitles that Lily was afraid of not being able to be on TV anymore due to "no longer being cute". If Lily were transgender, the entire concept of the concert would not exist. Even the other characters throw the supposed "revelation" aside with a lackadaisical "whatever" response. Well, except that one chick who laughed. The whole narrative framework was FAMILY. In all honesty, the people who think Lily is trans did not pay attention to the episode's narrative thematics. As a person whose own works center around sexuality, such as gender bend tropes and harem dynamics and how sexuality juxtaposes with society, I know my stuff and I generally overanalyze my work and favorite shows and Zombieland Saga and the best part of the show was Yasuharu Takanashi, but back to relevancy. I've been paying attention to Zombieland Saga with a fine tooth comb. The way I see it, people turn their brains off after seeing something that stimulates their own interests. They won't overanalyze the narrative framework. A person can say in the interview that Lily is trans, but Word of God does not exceed legitimate evidence to the contrary. This obsession over Lily is disgraceful towards transfolk, who actually obsess over their own sense of identity and have absolutely no relevance to their family like Lily has. The whole theme of it was the love between father and child. It had nothing to do with transgenderism. Also, in general the face scar can be speculated. My theory? Some rubbish fell out of the truck-kun that hit Sakura, giving that scar.
Yowie Wowee. LET ME IN! #Try Again Hurt #HealAnd what gives you the right to decide what is ‘disgraceful’ towards transgender people. Only actual trans folk can make that judgement, and countless members of the trans community have embraced Lily as one of the first respectful depictions of a transgender person in anime.
Edited by Snowy66I was under the impression Lily wasn't actually transgender but was a male dressing as a girl, from what I heard. Citation needed on the transgender thing?
Just heard that was a thing with the translation and that certain groups took a... political angle on it.
Hide / Show RepliesThis has been repeatedly confirmed via Word of God. Discussion is long over and not being changed.
Word of God is not to be taken lightly over contrasting visual evidence to the contrary. Are you going to define Word of God in PR or Word of God through narrative context clues?
Yowie Wowee. LET ME IN! #Try Again Hurt #HealNonetheless, this issue already caused a lot of editwarring in the past. So an executive decision was made to follow creator statements. If you're willing to reopen the debate on why it should be changed, then we'll need more input.
And it was Word of God through official twitter statements iirc. Done specifically to shut down these debates
Edited by Snowy66Would Yugiri's throat scar when out of human makeup count as an instance of Cool Scars?
WUT? Hide / Show RepliesNo. And the trope you're talking about is Rugged Scar, which is an indicator that a character is tough for surviving an injury that left them with a noticeable scar. Yugiri is an undead.
Edited by AnoBakaDesu "They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom PainSo we've got pictures for the zombies, Romero, and Kotaro. All reasonable, all Main Characters. We've also got pictures for Policeman A and The Mysterious Bartender... which strikes me as odd. Policeman A is a repeating character, but so are the Metalheads who don't have a picture. The Bartender is a one episode entity—two if one counts the finale, which is continuity cavaclade. And he exists primarily to be a cryptic background reference, not have any influence on the episode's plot like other one-shot characters.
Basically: If those two have pictures, shouldn't the other characters here have them as well?
Did you ever consider fiction might be fact? Hide / Show Repliesthey should probably have pictures — i guess it's just a matter of someone putting the effort of finding good pictures of them, cropping them to size, uploading them and then updating the character page with said pictures.
And there is always someone who will take it upon himself. Always. Always. Always. I have become evil, but once I, too, was good...Did they already confirm the VA of Tae Yamada? I have seen some discussions on Episode 3 and they say it is Kotono Mitsuishi, who is commonly known for her role in Sailor Moon
With Great Power, Comes Great Motivation
Does Season 1 still need all of the spoiler tags? I've been going through and tagging everything for revenge just in case, but I feel like most of the season 1 reveals (Save for Kotaro perhaps) should be public info by now.
