Kafei can be considered an example of Clark Kenting. He may be turned into a child, and that Keaton Mask may cover his whole face. But his credibly distinctive hair still makes it obvious who he is as soon as link knows what to look for. Which is why the fact that there are other clues to point link towards the laundry pool is completely forgotten in many walkthroughs and let's plays.

We never really see what Kafei looks like as an adult, so there's way of knowing how weak a disguise it actually is. Not to mention, it's undermined by the fact that no one's expecting him to look like a small child.
