Tomboy with a Girly Streak and Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak are both being misapplied and added to any character that plays outside (when in the past this was common) or wears a dress (when prior to the 1930s, girls weren't allowed to wear pants at all). Some of the characters this was applied to have very loose ties, and Sam and Kit are more Unwillingly Girly Tomboy. I've gone ahead and updated these tropes. This is also being discussed here at Ask The Tropers so that the editing back and forth that keeps removing good-faith edits can come to a close.
I know more about obscure 1990s Middle Grade Literature novels than most people.
These pages (as well as the main article pages) are being straightened up to more align with requirements and fitting tropes on the pages, especially to remove the rash of Zero-Context Example that are being placed as well as forced Square Peg Round Trope. I advise editors to the American Girl pages to look at the administrative pages and start to help get these pages up to good work. Thank you!
